So one of the SNL writers discovered Derry Girls
BAHAHAAHAHAHAHAH
Molly’s pronunciation of “Lady GaGA” is the low-key champion of this amazing sketch.
Literally just copying from Zach Galifianakis
@@lizardmandx I remember hearing it from Fallon 10+ years ago, curious who did it first
I pronounce it the exact same way and everybody makes fun of me
@@ElishaDavid No one's copying anyone. A lot of people say it that way to be funny. I've said it that way, I've seen many people on TV say it that way. It's just funny to pronounce it like that.
Gu ga
"...and THERAPY AND LASER TAG" caught me off-guard🤣...
I've never been so certain that Colin and Che's replacements should be nuns.
YES
Or, anyone
Now now, we'll have nun of that.
😂😂
Molly was delightfully wacky, and Aubrey was impressively dialed into her character's emotional interiority.
Adderall
It's not every day you die and don't see heaven.
Ooh... Maybe, they'll see this and think you should join the team. SO insightful.
Aubrey is mediocre at best.
@@siaf2398 in this sketch yes, actually her whole performance in this episode she just didn’t click. Besides the material being weak, she just didn’t seem into it and was stuck in one character for multiple sketches. I really respect her body of work though. She’s extremely eclectic and talented. Maybe live tv isn’t her thing. Improve is her element if she’s going to perform live. She’s reading these lines and it shows
It's giving older seasons of SNL... I love it
It really is!
Except not funny
@@optimisticzebra8498 I agree, this sucks.
"Tidy Joes" was especially reminiscent for me.
This definitely did feel like a sketch from pre-Will Ferrell SNL.
1:40 “sorry mom, I mean sister. Noo…” 😅 it took me a second why she was screaming noo! Rofl
Aww I love this skit. Nostalgic, heartwarming, irreverent, hilarious and somehow I could also see Vanessa Bayer and Molly Shannon playing Aubrey’s part. Aubrey was great in this as well as everyone else. Aubrey did a fantastic job as host. So happy for all her success.
The fact that I was wondering which alum had come back for a cameo, means I thought the performance was better than what you see this...sad season.
@@largelingerie So many people take time out of their day to shit on these videos in the comments. Like half the comments. Sure it doesn't make the show seem good, but what does it say about the people?
“When I was dead I didn’t see heaven”
“Maybe it was just closed for Martin Luther King Day!”
"No, it was a Saturday!"
@@richardgadberry8398 one of my favorite moments😂
"when I was dead I didn't see heaven"
--perfect delivery. perfect.
The way Aubrey can put murder and laser tag in the same bucket list is … only Aubrey. 😂💕
Aubrey Plaza is so versatile and doing a great job. It’s hard to make nun humor funny but they did a decent job😎
What are you talking about, theres a billion jokes with nuns and they managed to waste aubrey plaza on this one. I will admit they didnt do a bad job with the sketch it just wasnt good either😒
You should see her as a nun in The Little Hours
I was driving down the road and saw a sign that said church bazaar. I went inside and they had a two-headed nun.
@@DavidLS1 😂😂
Exactly… decent 😅
This concept for a sketch is fantastic. Absolutely hilarious. "THERE WAS NO HEAVEN!"
Hilarious? I mean funny enough you grin in a few places.. not hilarious.
@@wickedfuctup Parts of this sketch made me laugh out loud the first time I seen it, and still does. So, that would qualify as being hilarious.
Of course, there are different senses of humor. To each...etc.
Aubrey is off the charts in every category! She’s so funny in Drunk History
Loved her as Cleopatra lol. She put that Egyptian thing on ‘em.
As a kid in the 70's we lived next door to a group of nuns who taught at the school down the street. One snowy evening we invited them to go sledding with us down the nearby dam on a big toboggan. They were a lot of fun, and it really changed my mind about the wonderful ladies who sacrificed so much to serve the church and teach us ungrateful brats.
Nuns are awesome. Nuns who are teachers are the best of the best.
Nice comment. Yeah like you I always try to find the silver lining for my sake as well as all Im in contact with day to day. Im sorry that you feel that way about religion now but I do understand and see what you're saying, heck I see it a lot with people in the trying times. Not to be pushy but please consider re-opening your heart to Jesus. Someone so nice and caring like you deserves the perfect and eternal prize that is Heaven. Be blessed my friend

@@jaeboogie2786 Let me know once christians of all denominations stop diddling underage boys.
lol at aubrey calling the christopher character andrew 🤣
I actually played laser tag with a nun once. It was red vs blue and no one knew who the hell was the one person on yellow team. We then heard a shout and saw sister in the center of the arena with her hands raised, "I CAN'T DO IT! SHOOT ME, I'M A MARYTR!!!"
😂😂😂
Henceforth Lady G'gah shall be the _only_ way to pronounce it!
Zach Galifianakis pronounced it that way in the The Campaign and so have I, ever since. Welcome to the club.
Hence, 11 years ago, when Zach Galafinakas said it first
@@secularbelt Nobody cares when Zach does it
I've been hearing it said that way for over a decade.
G’gah sounds like one of Lovecraft’s Elder Gods.
Aubrey plaza slayed every skecth. I love her so much. I love her vibe so much
I think Molly just created a new recurring character
Andrew has one of those faces where, he doesn't have to say anything and he'll still get laughs
Big fan of Molly and the use of Andrew's naturally comedic ears
Leave him aloooone
Andrew's ears are actually a huge asset for him in comedy! They make him look young (despite his height) and goofy/approachable/imperfectly likeable.
Them boy's BLOOMIN EARS LOL😂😂
"They're like Sloopy Joes- but less messy!" Omg, writers were on fire tonight 🤣
Glad to see Molly getting more to do, and playing a different type of part. Like a few other people said, this reminds me of something they might have done years ago, back in the '70s or '80s.
Feels more like a mid-to-late 1990s sketch. You know, back when the popular cast members were Will Ferrell, Molly Shannon, Ana Gasteyer, and Darrell Hammond and MADtv was SNL's rival.
@@canaisyoung3601 They did have Mary Katherine Gallagher then, true. I was thinking of all the nuns Mary Gross used to play in the early '80s.
It's nice to see Molly carrying a sketch; they did a great job (I say they because Molly uses they/them pronouns), and Aubrey was funny, too. I'm getting old school SNL vibes with this.
HOW?!
Oddly enough I agree with this... but like older classic sketches...like from the 90s!
Who
@@cmonkey91 like original class.. Gilda Radner- Chevy Chase- Jane Curtain, Bellushi.. this entire episode was epic!
@@jonasosa5126 the WOMAN on the left
Outstanding Sister Clarence!! What a performance! Pure talent on display 👏🏽 👌🏽 🙌
You've done it before, you can do it again
😂😂
Looks like Derry Girls
No it's almost like Rosie's portrayal, but Rosie did a better accent
Except the accents are terrible
@@StueyTheWiz at one point, Molly even gave up trying
I've said this a million times to friends and coworkers as a fellow New Yorker who has been to many SNL tapings: Aubrey is PERFECT for SNL. This was such an amazing episode.
Aubrey Plaza is so good in every role and character. I really hope I see her in movies and shows. She’s very talented.
U watched her in Parks and Recreation right? One of the best shows ever.
The new cast are bringing the heat!! I believe that they know what they're up against. So many strong members of the cast have left and it is time for them to shine!! In my opinion, they are doing just that! 🙂 I hope they keep up the great work...also, Aubrey is killing it!! 😆
"Stealing is okay now. And so is murder and 69ing! I want to try it. And therapy! And lazer tag!"
That nun has many varied goals. May we all live lives that let us experience the joys inherent in all of those pursuits.
This gave me Derry Girl vibes
I need this to be a series. Like the church lady.
Sister Michael vibes
I AM A DERRY GIRL
YES
But they should have just made them American. This attempted accent is awful
Far too much smiling.
yes
Shout out to the band that caught back onto her when she totally missed a cue
where? i didn't notice
@@jacefaulk8792 they did a good job if you didn't notice!
@Jace Faulk right around 3:26 after the line "without god would we exist?"
yo, facts. good ears to you and them.
'sry mom.. I mean sister ' 😃😂
Historians say they were just good friends and roommates.
"what do women be doin'?"
"Dying AND SAYING NOTHIN"
I thought this was what she said at first and laughed my head off but then I looked down at the subtitles and saw that it said “Dying and seeing nothing” and I was in stitches. 🤣🤣
The Irish accent is quite difficult to imitate. Aubrey, especially, embodied it convincingly.
Molly did such a great job!!
Aubrey’s old lady singing 😂😂😂
Anyone else notice that Aubrey called Andrew by his real name after Molly introduced him as Christopher O'Malley? Hilarious!! 😂😂
I’m glad I finally found this comment 😂 she played through it so well tho. I missed it the first time
"lady G'gaa" 😂...Aubrey totally does look like mini Lady Gaga 🤣💋
CLASSIC SNL. More sketches like this
SNL needs to feature Molly Kearney more often. She's obviously got the chops.
Meh
They*
I think they are filling in the gap aidy left
Love how she gave her a intro and her response was “HELLO!”😂🤣😂🤣
fingers crossed this becomes a recurring sketch!!
Did Chris Farley have a secret love child? Lol
I was getting Chris Farley vibes from her as well
What makes this sketch seem so authentic to me is that, like in real life, no matter how desperate someone is to convince you that God exists, the one thing they refuse to do is offer evidence.
Molly reminds so much of Melissa Mccarthy it almost seems like she is channeling her.
Her weight reminds you of Melissa McCarthy because in terms of talent they are nowhere even remotely close to each other.
Not weight… disposition too… except for Melissa it’s way funnier
It's either Chris Farley or Melissa McCarthy I hear.
And Molly uses "they/them", not she. It was explained on the pretaped sketch where the four new cast members talk about what it's like to be on SNL that those are their pronouns.
@@canaisyoung3601 She is not very funny.
@@cactaceous Are you telling me why I think she reminds me of someone. Its not her weight, its her whole persona.
Instant classic.
I’m crying laughing at Aubrey 😂🎉 omfg 🤣 💙
The headphone cable on the end is a nice touch!
Molly is incredible! I hope they get some choice roles when this strike is over!
Writers resolved theirs, actors and actresses haven't.
I've been trying to figure out why this was so good. I think I've put my finger on it. Aubrey is having fun. She's playing. It's like even the weaker jokes are made better by her enthusiasm. Snl should have her back and also just have more enthusiastic hosts in general
The whole cast had to dial up the neurosis for tonight...
To match with Aubrey's or because they're still dealing with the fact that Cecily Strong is gone?
@@canaisyoung3601 Yes.
I enjoyed this so much . Right up my alley of humor
I can't pick my favorite skit...too many good ones. Finally, I remember snl when it always used to be that way. I'm wondering if it has to do with who is hosting. Not since Dan Levy have I been enjoying skit after skit and don't want them to end.
There are a lot of variables that affect the humor of an SNL episode, from choice of host to the quality of the writing, acting, and casting to behind-the-scenes drama to fan favorite cast members leaving and world events and social changes affecting what's funny. It's the reason why SNL's quality is peak and valley rather than "It was good in its early years. Now it's a neverending parade of crap" like what happened with The Simpsons (though there are viewers out there who believe that SNL's humor has gone the way of The Simpsons).
Imo it's partly because they have a lot of new(er) cast finally getting to show their range.
And, y'know, it's Aubrey freaking Plaza so they brought their a-game.
Modern setting version of the little hours
I just love Molly's shocked look
Aubrey really needs to be a part of Wednesday season 2.
Aubrey plaza is brilliant
Molly was sooooo good in this one. More Molly sketches ASAP please!!!!
Yeah
Molly Kearney Should Get A Foot Massage If Molly Kearney Is Going To Play Footsie
This one is my favorite I think, freaking hilarious. Especially growing up catholic, love it.
DIEING AND SAYING NOTHING.😅🤣😂😅🤣😂
"when I died I didn't see heaven"
"Maybe it was closed for martin Luther king day"
"IT WAS A SATURDAY"
Has everyone seen The Little Hours? Aubrey + nuns = gold
THIS WAS TOO FUNNY 😂😂😂
Is it just me or does Aubrey look so much better in dark hair
Yes! She really does.
no one talking about "right away dad- oooo thats worse"
Molly as a nun reminds me of the nun from the 2 Blues Brothers movies.
They probably watched that movie at some point in their life and thought, "Hey, that could be my comic character." Either that or Molly, like most people, was a Catholic school student and went to the one that had nuns for teachers and probably got in trouble for mocking them.
She's more like Rosie O'Donnell nun. But Rosie could do an Irish accent. These 2 can't, don't know why they had to do that
Don’t see how, here she’s playing a “Fun nun” whereas the nun in the Blues Brothers was a real hard liner.
Molly sounded like Rosie O'Donnell in a skit with Molly Shannon as Mary Katherine Gallagher
Best sketch of the night
I love it!❤
America needs to see Sister Clarence again.
idk why but Andrew Dismukes is such a damn cutie to me! his nerdy charm works on me lol
This is amazing.
This episode is killing it
3:20 "wiiithhout God, would we exist? nooo!" cracks me up.
ahh something classic. All the new, new, new, new wave super "with it" and topical stuff is wonderful, but it's truly nice to have a classic sketch with regular characters
In that nun outfit I am surprised her skin doesn't burn. 🤣🤣
She played a nun in The Little Hours
@@tylerd.5694 Again as I said before
That's not a nun outfit, it's a black hoodie. 🤣
This is the first time Molly Kearney has acted rather than done the same old Chris Farley impression. Kearney’s style has its uses but if they don’t do more stuff like this, I think they’re very very limited
It was really refreshing. I hope to see more of their range.
@@JillKnapp *her
painful but i stuck with it and now i'm questioning everything also
🤣🤣🤣 so gooood!!!
Yum! This is shaping up to be a very memorable show! So good all the way around the horn! 🔥
Let's repeat this nun character. I related 😂
this gives me major derry girls vibes I love it so much 😭
I think Aubrey is bound to be 20time host!!! OMG the definition of a stomper!!! The only thing stoping her is that she actually is too good, and makes the cast look weeker then usual.... but still elevating their performances! Incredible!!!
Top 2 episode of the year, because I can't stop laughing at all of scenes 😭
Why does Aubrey make me laugh everytime
It's like a pre school play
Excellent
Wish my nuns were this funny in school
I agree Aubrey is killing it, but I think the lesson here is that nuns definitely need therapy! 🤣🤣
This might be the best thing Ive seen SNL put out in years.
“Maybe it was just uhhh close for MLK day”🤣🤣🤣 she did not😂
this second attempt to replace Aidy B is WAY more successful than the first
Molly Kearney Is The One
