Love this idea but I think a smooth, round globe would look nice, too.i wonder if I could cover an old metal world globe with tiles??
Thanks for watching. I am sure you could use a metal globe. 🙂
OMG id been struggling with thinking of a different way to mosiac & have been doing mexi'can tin art for a while..... but like an idiot had not realise that combining the 2 was my solution to finding cheap n easy colour range. An outdoor version would be interesting..maybe stapling to wood base shape or i wonder if grout would grab Ali!? No more nails or resin covered. Anyway thanks for inspiration
Hi I am so happy you are inspired. Soda and beer cans do provide a wide color pallet particularly when they are cut into these small tiles. Have fun with your project. 🙂
This is Beautiful! I made some butterflies out of cans last summer and put them on a flower arrangement. The flower arrangement was put on my in-laws grave. As the summer went on, I noticed that the sun had completely bleached the color from the butterflies. Do you have any suggestions for what might help preserve the color on the cans?
Hi that is an interesting question. I have several aluminum can projects that have lasted outside but I have painted all of them. I did seal them with the DuraClear gloss varnish that I used on this project so hopefully it will help with the bleaching out of the color. Wish I had a better answer for you but I guess time will tell. Thanks for watching. 🙂
Actually if you use outdoor silicone caulking in clear. To the base of your project it will withstand any moisture and weather conditions
I used to silicone caulking for my dish art projects. Every other kind of glue and epoxy was not strong enough in the direction sunlight. Especially in the summer sun.
Thanks for the tip and for watching. Cheers 🙂
I’d be very interested in how it does in the weather.
Me too. 🙂 It has only been outside for a month but it has already survived one of the worst hail storms I can remember. It came through without any damage. Our roof and cars did not fare nearly as well. Thanks for watching.
I never thought of cans I use old gift cards though
That's a fun idea. Thanks for watching and sharing your ideas. 🙂
