And I said of course I don’t see him as having a disability. I fell in love with him because of his heart and his soul. My husband has cerebral palsy. He’s does not need to be in a wheelchair since his younger years. I truly don’t see him as being disabled. We are very much in love and been together for 21 years.

Im 24 and from the UK. I am partially sighted and have a physical disability. I worry about relationships cos I know I can never do things like play footie with my kids, pick them up etc. Ive never been confident about the way I look either. Its weird cos im confident otherwise (i did stand up comedy for a year) im also at uni too. Seeing this couple gives me hope that I can one day make a woman very happy.
so many abled people are surprised or distrustful or disgusted when they find out that people with disabilities are capable AND DESERVING of having relationships. i appreciate these videos for opening a dialogue about ableism, and for giving disabled people control over their own narrative !

I remember an even in my town when these two adults BOTH with Down’s syndrome went out on a date and became a couple a lot of people on the neighborhood group online said it was inappropriate and disgusting. It was beyond rude they both had jobs and lived in an independent living facility (I worked there for a spell) and they were the sweetest couple they held hands and he’d pick flowers for her and walk her home from work (it was on the facility but still sweet gesture) yet old people and other ignorant people like to pick fun or be rude

Luke's company is a brilliant disability service company that gives people independence in seeking their carers rather than going through a typical agency. He works as an advocate for other young people with disabilities and in expanding powerchair sports to young people. Bec was clearly stating that he is an independent adult just as any man his age.

This is a very sweet story. My husband is an able bodied man and I'm a quadriplegic. My husband went through the backlash from my family, his family, and society with questions and statements like "Why would an able bodied man love a disabled woman like you, there must be a dark motive." "He doesn't love you, he loves your money." and many more. We were met 6 years ago, married and now we have a 3 year old son together. Life many be hard in the beginning, as long as you love each other and support each other, it will workout. Wish you too the best.

From my husband's point of view, why an able bodied male is attracted to a disable me... he said he loves my attitude on life, my personality, my smile, my creativity, our things in common, my body is a "fun exploration" and many more. So the short answer is he is attracted to me as a person (like everyone else) and disability is just a way of life. If you are asking me, a woman with a disability is physically attracted to an able bodied man, the answer is simple, cuz I think he is my type "hot" and fun to explore with him. I love this channel because it shows in every video what love is and how unbiased it truly is. In this couple its the same love as any other couple would have. Just because the couple has different challenges doesnt mean its not love and as a disabled person myself I really appreciate seeing this and I think they are a sweet couple.
In the world of disability you attend so many meetings and situations where you are forced to tell your life story over and over again. Shes heard it all before and probably knows every line off by heart. Nature of the beast so to speak.
That was really weird lol. I've spent four years in disability support & attended all the meetings etc & never felt the need to do this. But I suppose she has just heard it that many times, for some reason she's mouthing instead of following along in her head. EDIT: later in the vid she corrects him saying "ammonia" & tells him to say "pneumonia" so I bet she mouths what she is anxiously wanting him to say "correctly". Bit controlling but not to a crazy degree.

I think his family are right to be weary of her. I try not to be judgemental, I really do. But her demeanour has all my spidey senses tingling. She's an intensive care nurse. So she hasn't had to think about it much, because she probably went in knowing mostly about his condition.

I love these stories, because they go beyond the stereotype 'perfect' for each other couple narrative.

I’ve seen shows about interabled relationships where I find the couples cute and genuine so I don’t find her “off” because she’s in an interabled relationship, it’s something else I can’t put my finger on. Also her talking a lot about how sexy he is and how she sees him as “sexy, not disabled” makes me wonder if he’s a fetish to her.

I love this channel because it shows in every video what love is and how unbiased it truly is. In this couple its the same love as any other couple would have. Just because the couple has different challenges doesnt mean its not love and as a disabled person myself I really appreciate seeing this and I think they are a sweet couple.

That was really weird lol. I've spent four years in disability support & attended all the meetings etc & never felt the need to do this. But I suppose she has just heard it that many times, for some reason she's mouthing instead of following along in her head.
EDIT: later in the vid she corrects him saying "ammonia" & tells him to say "pneumonia" so I bet she mouths what she is anxiously wanting him to say "correctly". Bit controlling but not to a crazy degree.
