This would allow another company to build a previous version of the kite, or get spare parts made or let hobbiests have a go at building a really nice kite. As a company, you'll never go back to a previous version - so there's nothing much to lose. But people may play with the design, tweak it, modify it, make it better -- then you get free ideas and data for any future kites.
