I've always thought the slow down in fifth round is a bit about respect. Kind if you know you've lost and don't think you've got a ko to go for, it is better for both to stay injury free for the next fight in two weeks. It's kind of like the first round is slow but technical to get the betting going. If you've grown up fighting that way and it stays with you. I know Smilla Sundell used to get in trouble for that when she kept ko-ing people in the first round. I'm pretty sure it's been the same for other teen farangs fighting in the beginning. We're grown up trying to end the fight from it starts.
