- This was a demonstration I made for a vintage 1903 Singer 17-12 Cylinder Arm Industrial Sewing Machine that I sold on eBay earlier this year.
It was found in a now demolished 3 generation leather shop in Accord, NY. It's believed to have been in the family since it was originally purchased. When I got it, it was covered in decades of dust, sitting in the back repair room completely frozen. With some effort and a lot of cleaning and polishing I got this machine working beautifully again.
This machine was described in the original manual as follows:
"For horse boots and other concave articles in leather. Upper feed across arm only and presser feed point for 1/8 inch "set" stitch."
Leather used for demonstration:
-1 ply 9oz latigo belting leather
Thread used for demonstration:
-Needle Thread (Leather): Tex 135 Bonded Nylon - A&E Anefil
-Bobbin Thread (Leather): Tex 90 Bonded Nylon - A&E Anefil
-Needle Original Singer 16x64 Leather Point - Size 23
