    Search and rescue mission and fire fighting also ... And it can operate from a non pavement landing strip and on the ice neither. Outstanding, Embraer!

      who has a higher load capacity? The C-17 can haul almost 3 times as much as a KC-390. I'm guessing you are comparing the KC-390 to a C-130, then it would make sense.

    Em tempos de canalhas e mais canalhas 24h na TV sendo "descobertos" e descobertas mutretas de todos os lados, é excelente ver coisas boas do nosso país.

      G C não importa senhor GC, o importante é que apesar de todos os desafios da ciência e tecnologia no Brasil temos uma empresa fundada e administrada por Brasileiros e que hoje está dando no show, no desenvolvimento de aeronaves civis e militares e que embora tenha tecnologia embarcada de empresas de outros Países ( o que é bastante comum no mundo da aviação) não diminui seu protagonismo empresarial e nem seu visionarismo.

      It's capable of very slow speed as required to REVO helos, around 225km/h (about 120kt)

    Pelo que vi vai ser produzido entre Brasil e Portugal e ambos vao ter estas aeronaves presentes nas suas forcas armadas no caso de Portugal vai substituir os C-130 boa aeronave muito bonita e rápida a agir aos comandos perfeita engenharia de Brasil e Portugal espero que nao seja a ultima se a primeira e assim imaginem as que veem a seguir

    Very ugly plane with a very disproportionate fuselage.The ramp seems to be taking up too much of the fuselage's length. Though not an aero engineer myself, I love this plane as a warhorse. It looks mean and imposing, ready to kick anyone's ass anytime!

      O KC-390 é um projeto brasileiro, mas com parceiros internacionais, quando se tem um projeto desses não se coloca a bandeira do país líder do projeto em destaque no avião, quer só um exemplo, o F-35 é um projeto americano com parceiros internacionais e apesar dos EUA ter pago praticamente todo o projeto não vemos a bandeira americana em destaque nos protótipos do caça, temos a bandeira americana na frente com as bandeiras dos países parceiros vindo logo depois da mesma, ou seja, acontece a mesma coisa no KC-390 temos a bandeira brasileira acima ( país líder do projeto) com as bandeiras dos países parceiros logo abaixo

    This is a nice aircraft but will be of limited use as a tactical transport because of the very high risk of FOD to the engines on unprepared runways. That is the reason that the C-130 and A-400M use turboprops. A tactical transport that can't land won't be of much use to anyone.

      Martin Courtenay-Blake the risk of FOD is minimal, the main landing gear has project to avoid, rocks, sand and others coming to the engines.

      Marcos I can see what you are saying on some photographs. The worst problem is apparently the dust and debris thrown up by the engines on landing on, say, grass strips. Especially if the aircraft has to turn round for take off. This has always been the stated reason why most tactical transport aircraft use propellers, but, I'm sure that Embraer would have done some testing on this.
      It is still a very nice aircraft though and I hope it does well.

      This question has been frequently asked to Embraer, which always disguise the answer with technical arguments. My guess: the KC-390 is not targetting poor or underdeveloped markets. It targets European, North-american and Asian countries as a mid-sized, multi-purpose cargo airplane to fill a gap in the market (there is no airplane with this combination of size, speed, payload and fuel economy). Take a look at the list of actual orders or potential buyers: Germany, United States, Portugal, Sweden, Czech Republic and New Zealand. Embraer recently stated that it chose the V2500 engines for efficiency in ordinary conditions rather than performance in unusual conditions. This is an indication that the airplane was not conceived for poor operational environments
