It's Tom!!! Very cool! Always cool to pick up some subs on trail!! ......and the thunder rolls ..you guys got lucky! The crash site is pretty wild. I have drank puddle water on a rock many times! Surprisingly refreshing a few times ....lets get hiking human hahahahaha .........bushwhacking is the best !!! I have done many of them , and have a few good ones planned out ...and a random bar of dial soap....interesting. Looks like you all had a blast out on the trail. I enjoyed this .

The plane wreckage is all over the place up there. Actually, I love bushwhacking. It is my favorite to find different areas off the trail, especially campsites. I was hiking at Hanging Rock and needed to cut across from one trail to another. Bushwhacked across and nearly stepped off a 30 foot cliff that was hidden by the brush🤪. Great video and fun to see Tom and Nancy with you. God bless and stay on the path!

That sure looks like great hiking and a fantastic place to camp. That plane crash is pretty crazy. Very creative source for water in that rock. The long views are amazing. Xander says big 👍 on the cheese snacks and sends tail wags for Dexter. 🐾👍

We had to go bushwacking off trail on our 3rd Ever Backpacking Endeavor a couple times due to SUPER muddy trails... we didn't get lost! :-) About the dial soap, we just did our gallonbagchallenge this weekend and we found LOTS of interesting things!! Rugged Mountain Sister says "Great video Crow" and the face RMmister made when the thunder rolled was hilarious! (He doesn't like T-Storms) Great job and great video! - Rugged Mountain Gang

Tom, Nancy and Dexter hi! Love your captions. They really add to your videos! The storm added excitement to your trip. I've been in my tent holding my poles for fear the tent would collapse during a thunderstorm at night. I hope I get to see Hernandez Peak, plane wreckage and McDill's Point when I'm out there. McDill's Point looks like a great place to camp if you're there in the afternoon. The cool image of you walking out on a triangle rock to a view, you didn't say if that is off the Pinhoti Trail. Appreciate it my friend! Yes, that rock point is around the corner from McDill Point. It is on the same rock face. There is actually a campsite there too. McDill Point is about 1/4 mile off the Pinhoti. Appreciate it my friend. Lots of fun. Crow✌️

🐍 Naked snaked! What a great trip! So glad you guys all got the chance to head out together. Looks like so much fun. And you got to meet Dexter! 😀
I've bushwhacked, but it wasn't not a bit of fun to do. Me and Sweeps wandered off of the AT somehow here in PA. I knew the AT ran the entire ridge, so we bushwhacked up to the top of the mountain. I was crohns-sick at the time, stopping every ten steps trying not to puke. I did end up doing so several times. Nevertheless, we did pick up the AT again on the ridge. I won't forget that bushwhack anytime soon.
Ouch! That is some bushwhacking with a twist. That doesn’t sound fun trying to navigate and throwing up at the same time. Yeah, it was so much fun hiking with Tom and Nancy. Dexter was a great hiker. He is so obedient and stuck right with us the whole time. Thanks for watching Ice Bear! Hope we can hike together again soon. Crow✌️

Those are some views! Love that shot at around 19:30. Listening to rain inside a tent is in my top 5 favorite things for camping….as long as I stay dry. Not a big fan of wet gear. Definitely done my fair share of bushwhacking. The first instance that comes to mind was our trip out in Utah a few years ago. We came out of the canyon and the “trail” was nowhere to be found. My brother shot an azimuth with his compass and off we hiked to the car. Cutting brush in the desert is a little different than the Alabama mountains.
Cool story, yeah, bushwhacking in the desert may have some prickily thorns which may not be too fun, or some rattle snakes... I enjoy the rain while hiking...as long as it is during the night and I never get wet. 🤣✌️. It was a great little weekend trip. Appreciate you watching. Looking forward to the Smokies. Crow✌️

This looked like a great time. That point was amazing when you were standing up there what an amazing view. It always saddens me when I see trash on the trail during my hikes. I have never taken a short cut still learning my ways around and didn't want to get lost. Awesome video!

Cool trip, Brad. I didn't hear you complain about a whippoorwill. The thunder in the night must have scared him away. I liked the sunrise through the trees. That view at 15:04 and 19:37 were awesome. I always bushwack whenever I can. You absolutely are taking a chance on the terrain when you do though. Around here you need to be careful where you do. Sometimes you can get cliffed out or get into a thick mess of deadfalls. Bushwacking isn't for everyone and sometimes is a dumb decision. My neighbor has a saying that holds true most of the time, "If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough". LOL BTW, my son ships out tomorrow for boot camp in SC. For now they have graduation and family days cancelled due to Covid. We have not booked our trip back there yet. If we do I'll let you know we are coming. Thanks and take care.

Amy Outdoors - So, a Whipoorwill is a bird. It makes a crazy sound at night. In the Southeastern US, they are everywhere. I really love their song at night. Great trip video. I love that area but camping near McDill is tough because of the water situation. Your only hope is for the puddles on the rocks like you did or the spring to be running on the Cave Creek Trail.
I’ve bushwhacked before in the Sipsey Wilderness before but for me it’s a great way to get lost😂

Curious, do you pack up things any differently if they're wet? Gnarly the plane wreckage is still there! Magnificent mountain views! We used to take Short cuts back in the day, but tend to stay on the trail now!!😉
Good question Misha. Yes, I pack up my tent differently when it has rained. I usually put it on the outside of my pack to keep it separated from my other gear in the mesh pocket. Then, I usually stop when the rain is done and let it dry out in the sun. But, sometimes, it doesn’t stop raining for a while and I just have to let it be wet...
