Please Ray, make some more content. A whole generation hasn't a clue who the great Ray Mears is. My 30yr old sons still remember you with great fondness and they still have a book or two of yours. One is in the army and still views you as the king of survival tactics.
I love that there is no BS in the opening. Most of the TH-cam videos waste around 1 minute to forever on chit chatting bS before getting to their freaking point. Very informative. Thanks for sharing.
Ray Mears, Mors Kochanski, Les Hiddens, Les Stroud and Cody Lundin are all modern day guru's with very likely varying level of guru skill. Besides them anyone else is probably just fooling themselves.
It's so sad that Ray doesn't make Bushcraft films any more. I wonder if he is less interested in Bushcraft as he gets older or if the TV company he works for only wants him to do those nature programms he has been making in the last times because they are more popular.
Maybe, but just last year he made the series "Wild Australia with Ray Mears" He is not inactive it's just that he seems to have become a nature program presenter and not a Bushcrafter any more...
I agree, but in all honesty what more is there to be said? .... I would however love to see Ray do a series or even a follow up series to his book with Lars Falt! The 2 legends!
I think the answers are pretty complicated, some of it is down to what the TV companies want to make, some is down to making something new. I went to see Ray on tour last year, he demonstrated, on stage, in a theatre, many ways to make fire, all of which I had seen before, but to sit 15 feet away, and smell the smoke was just fantastic. Ray is a great communicator and clearly still loves Bushcraft and teaching it. He did hit upon the time constraints on filming in the show, and how hard it can be to get things done in the time and cost allowed by production teams. I have heard rumours about the way this sort of thing is portrayed by gung ho types doesn't sit well with Rays ways and thoughts. He still runs courses of course.
Master Craftsman..... Definitely one of the finest out there when it comes to Bushcrafts....no fancy nonsense made for TV Shite..... KISS (Keep it Simple Stupid) 🙏
At the end, he was inserting the pegs into the edge of the fire to dry and harden the wood. The wood should never burn, it should be a bit toasty looking and will be very hard. Fire hardened wood is very tough.
Triumph Screen Printing He has a lot of great videos, it’s funny where we see each other, I’ve seen you at the regulars but I see you at Dean o Instagram and I think Tony Harding, a knife maker . Cheers. Tony
Did you cut ur tent pegs from green branches, saplings or fallen dead sticks? I’m only seeing super knobby branches where I live or really punky fallen sticks where I’ve tried cutting tent pegs.
Too bad there are no subtitles possible. (Even the automatically generated subtitles are disabled and not availible). Please fix this. I love to be able to pick up the knowledge you and your team share!❤
Random guy on youtube carving a stick: "boring, seen thousand times, nothing new, no skill needed for that.." Ray Mears carving a stick: "what a master, great, big knowledge, awesome to watch..." 😂😂😂
thanks for this, i seldom carry a bushcraft knife as these days get caught with it on your person, of course quite illegal unless you can provide a legal defence on why you are carrying it.
In the UK and Australia camping and hiking are generally seen as a good excuse, just don't get caught out leaving it in your car or taking a major detour from going too camp or home. Kind of sad we live in such a police state that such an essential tool has been branded a weapon.
I have met a few Rangers in my travels, though dispersed camping is sometimes frowned upon depending where you are, most seem fine with my presence after a quick chat they can generally tell if you are their to destroy or simply enjoy the nature.
This sharp end just below your ribs, pointing right your stomach, wasn't the safest practice ;-) I persoanally prefer making points on the sticks as the last operation.
Can somebody help me?! I have a pointed steel butt/pummel on my full tang knife. Can anybody tell me any uses other than beating something or cracking nuts?
Your woodlore knife is a beautiful looking knife & is as functional as well... however $ 450.00 for a semi custom production knife made out of O1 Tool Steel is way way overpriced....

Always happy to see a master at work. Thank you.
Simply the best tutorial despite its age
Great education is timeless.
the videos of that era is the pure, without these days videos full of commercials, ads and all that necessary sh1t 👍
I love that there is no BS in the opening.
Most of the TH-cam videos waste around 1 minute to forever on chit chatting bS before getting to their freaking point.
Very informative.
Thanks for sharing.
Ray is a master in bushcraft.he has done his job.he has forgot more than we will ever learn.#teammears.
Some new footage would be great. Still love these old videos.
Classic info that will never go out of date!
Thats a cracking knife, sharpened to perfection.
SoldierDemps also the most popular knife and most expensive lol
@@americanpatriot3667 what type/brand of knife is it?
Anthony Coleman this knife ? Wood lore/by Allan wood if you can get your hands on an original now
Practical, clear instruction.
Glad to see a video being posted, I hope that means new content is coming soon.
A great re-post...

Bush craft king! The real OG bush man
Thank you very much!!!!!!!
.Have a nice day!!!!
as great as the safety tips at the end of "choosing an axe" video of yours. Really great!!!
This is wonderful; thanks for sharing!
Ray is the real thing in a world full of reality trash tv.
BOB I’m a huge fan of Les, yes, he really was in a class of his own.
Ray Mears, Mors Kochanski, Les Hiddens, Les Stroud and Cody Lundin are all modern day guru's with very likely varying level of guru skill. Besides them anyone else is probably just fooling themselves.
that knife looks wicked sharp
The back hand grip amazes me, I have never need someone to hold a rope or cord for me to cut it.
It's so sad that Ray doesn't make Bushcraft films any more. I wonder if he is less interested in Bushcraft as he gets older or if the TV company he works for only wants him to do those nature programms he has been making in the last times because they are more popular.
I’d say that he is simply done with production and just living
Life is too short to spend it all making a show
Maybe, but just last year he made the series "Wild Australia with Ray Mears" He is not inactive it's just that he seems to have become a nature program presenter and not a Bushcrafter any more...

Bushcraft & Country Skills he is busy with expeditions and stuff
For me he is the king of out doors.
Ray is kind of like Carl sagan in that you could listen to him all day long. Endlessly wise
Cutting with a knife!!!! Christ what will they think of next, Digging with a shovel? I joke, I love Ray.
Dam that’s one sharp knife
Nice to see someone using a knife properly for once. Rare to see both on youtube and IRL.
I want that knife, Ray!
I would totally simp for this guy no hestation.

Fire hardened wood is very tough.
Maybe Ray is cooking the pegs, because he's hungry. Lol
Whenever I can I will try and do this instead of using the tent pegs from my tent for practice sake
Thanks for tutorial
Good stuff eh Tony?! Cheers!
Triumph Screen Printing He has a lot of great videos, it’s funny where we see each other, I’ve seen you at the regulars but I see you at Dean o Instagram and I think Tony Harding, a knife maker . Cheers. Tony
Come back Ray 😢
That Ray disappeared from TH-cam. Haven't seen his new videos in a while.
Did you cut ur tent pegs from green branches, saplings or fallen dead sticks? I’m only seeing super knobby branches where I live or really punky fallen sticks where I’ve tried cutting tent pegs.
Where’s the notch in the tent peg for the cordage?
Good advice

nice reminder
Useful for vampire killers too.
Looks like a good knife, where could I get one, and are they expensive,??
John Waddington he's got his own range of knives and I'm pretty sure that's one of them, they are very expensive but I'm sure are top quality
End of the film?
Ray mears I'm a spoon carving guy I uses them grips a lot awesome video much respect to ya greetings from UK England Essex🐺🐾👌
I use these grips a lot, not uses them...........must be from New York city!
Ray, what is the bevel angle on your knife?
Nice!
Can you make a prop shaft tho
this one goes straight to hevean
Random guy on youtube carving a stick: "boring, seen thousand times, nothing new, no skill needed for that.."
Ray Mears carving a stick: "what a master, great, big knowledge, awesome to watch..."
😂😂😂
How many videos of youtubers "carving with sticks" do you watch exactly to know this?
What knife is that
I'm going to take a wild guess and assume that knife is... Um... Sharp!
Timeless.. But still I was OH! a new video :)
Vampire killing next !!
What knife is that?
Survival in Sweden for the army
That, is a sexy knife..

Haha! Do you have many police officers walking around in your woods?
I have met a few Rangers in my travels, though dispersed camping is sometimes frowned upon depending where you are, most seem fine with my presence after a quick chat they can generally tell if you are their to destroy or simply enjoy the nature.
Camping /hiking would be a reasonable defence
No trees were harmed during this video
This sharp end just below your ribs, pointing right your stomach, wasn't the safest practice ;-)

a good egg
No notch?
Thinly veiled advertising for tent pegs
*grins* That's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick
Step One: have a knife made of good steel, and sharpened properly.
Just when I was getting to the good part it stops 😭😭😭😭
Палочек настрогал,вот это достижение!
“Frank of Ireland” brought me here
Can somebody help me?! I have a pointed steel butt/pummel on my full tang knife. Can anybody tell me any uses other than beating something or cracking nuts?
Is this channel even legit?
love ray but his bushcraft knife is ridiculously over priced
This should be called, Ray Mears goes camping. I love how he calls it survival but has a full tool set.
Your woodlore knife is a beautiful looking knife & is as functional as well... however $ 450.00 for a semi custom production knife made out of O1 Tool Steel is way way overpriced....
same old same old how about some new stuff for a change or has he retired from bushcraft already.
Did he say "Bullet Shape" - He's in England, what does he know about bullets!
Because we do have bullets and guns legally in the UK.
Should be called "ray mears, camping tutorial"
Just when I was getting to the good part it stops 😭😭😭😭
