Glad the network gave it a chance and it is now looked back as one of the best shows of the last decade.

I wish the incredible Alison Wright was on this panel to talk about her character Martha which she made mesmerizing.

So sad what happened to Nina. I felt she had enough of a story with Oleg to go on. Great acting from the whole cast. Binge watched every episode!

I am binge-watching this fantastic show @ S5, E2 and enjoying the series more now than ever.
The outstanding cast and the story line truly make this show television at its best.
Keri Russell is clearly one of the most underrated actresses in the industry. She should have been bestowed an Emmy Award in the same breadth as Matthew Rhys because a lead cast member is only as good as the other - they bring the best in each other’s performance.

If you have liked the show The Americans as much as I did, this panel (recorded right after Season 4) is a gem. This is by far the best material you can find (written or taped) on all aspects of the characters and the writers. I have read and admired all LeCarre novels, Kim Philby's autobiography, The Third Man, most Graham Green and other classic spy genre books. Yet...
I bet, The Americans will become a classic and will be watched in the future just as we listen to classical music from the Barok times. This TV show gives the essence of the Cold War as real as it was circa 80s and nowhere has it been depicted as good as here. Not even in LeCarre's Smiley series! The writers have managed to create a classical work of art and all the actors were way above standard. The two main characters Misha and Nadhezda (Philip and Elizabeth) played by Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys were very realistic. (Ah, only If Keri could have pronounced Russian better, but still they are all super).
The writer duo are masters of their art. Their use of 80s music, movies (like Blade Runner, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Wall Street, The Day After etc) hair styles, events and all the Cold War backdrop, i.e. projection of actual events to the show's timeline is superbly built: It is a monumental piece of writing that Gorbachev's future is determined by this couple in the end. As a person who lived those times live, I am ready to believe that such a forking of fate actually might have happened during the peace talks in Washington DC.
I love "The Americans" and big big big congratulations for all the contributors and the FX channel for producing it.

I've watched a few panels. Usually Matthew doesn't talk much. Happy to hear him talk more on this one. His thoughts on possible endings are great!

Thanks for making a video in 720p, at least! Too many other videos out there are in 360p or worse! Surprising in this day of 4K & 1080p TV's.

The scene in which the Russian female spy was executed by the KGB stayed with me a long time.

To me, the fascinating part about it was that the Russians felt that making someone wait for their execution was inhumane. At the same time they had no problem working people to death in labor camps. Complicated people those Russians.

This was a great event, and Keri Russell is fabulous. But did she understand that she was in public, and being recorded on camera? Look at what she does at 1:01:11. Odd to do with your hands right while you are the one on the panel talking, that everyone is looking at!
