- In this review, it's another installment of "Macro Monday" here on the channel, and I'm going to take a look at another beer from Anheuser-Busch (@AnheuserBuschUSA), and it's their Budweiser (@budweiser), which is an American Adjunct Lager. Most people watching this review have probably had "The King of Beers" at some point in their lives, but after a couple viewers of the channel suggested I give this one a proper review, here we are. Full disclosure, I've had this beer numerous times before, and I can safely say it's not one of my favorite American Adjunct Lagers. That said, I'm going into this review with an open mind, like I do for all the beers I review on the channel. Will my opinion about this one change? Let's find out!

Thanks for watching!
Still in the top tier in sales all over the world. In it's class, the only beer that rivals it is Coors Banquet. Bud is delicious!!
Thanks for chiming in, Scott! Glad you enjoy the beer. I prefer many others over it, but we all have different palates. That said, Coors Banquet is definitely a tasty one! I appreciate the comment.
Cheers!
THE KING OF BEERS 💪🏼
Glad you like it!
Cheers!
Budweiser to me is great for what it is. It’s not some award winning craft beer, but it’s always been solid when mowing the grass or watching a game or fight. It’s reasonably priced as well. Cheers!
That is why beer is so subjective. We all have different palates and opinions. While I don't care for Budweiser, there are many out there like yourself that enjoys it. Myself, I'd rather have a Miller High Life or Coors Banquet, but my preferred choice of a cheaper macro beer is Genny Cream Ale. I truly appreciate the comment, Joe!
Cheers!
NO.
That about sums it up for me. A firm "NO," indeed!
Cheers, Jeff!
The magic happens after the first one is gone and you become numb to all of the slightly off things about the taste. Then it's smooth sailing from there
LMAO! You ain't wrong. I'm sure that goes for most beers, though. I guess you have to look at the bright side of something if you don't enjoy the taste. Appreciate the comment!
Cheers!
This beer is not cheap. Yes its cheaper than craft beer but its not cheap compared to other American adjunct lagers. So basically if I want a AAL Im not choosing Budweiser in terms of price point. I mean I recently saw a 6 pack of 16 oz cans of Bud for 10.99 and I can get a 6 pack of 16 oz cans of PBR and Rolling Rock and Narragansett all for less than 8 bucks so Im not choosing Budweiser over them.
Btw your prices for Budweiser are very cheap because as you said those are grocery store prices. Liquor store prices are higher and its not worth it at those prices. 12 bucks for a 12 pack is cheap AF but thats grocery store prices. Its not that cheap at any liquor store near me which is the only place where I can buy beer.
Yeah, the value all depends on where you live. Around here, I can get this anywhere from gas stations to grocery stores to beer stores. The prices will vary. I did notice, as I mentioned in the review, that this one seemed more expensive than I remember. I'd much rather have Genny Cream Ale or even Genny Beer over this one if we're taking price point into consideration. I can get a 30 pack of either of those beers for $18-20, so paying $5-7 more for Budweiser? HELL NO! And yeah, I'd take all of those over Budweiser except Rolling Rock, but even the Rolling Rock I might consider because of the price point.
Cheers, Chaz!
@@averagejoe716 LOL I just saw a guy go into a walk in cooler at a liquor store and he came out with a single 12 oz can of Budwesier. I couldnt believe it. Who just buys a 12 oz can of Budwesier ? It made me laugh. At least buy a 24 oz tall can. Very strange.
LOL! Yeah ... not sure. Outside of someone like me, who buys singles for reviews, I don't know. MAYBE HE HAS A TH-cam CHANNEL!
I don't mind a macro lager. Great spacer beers or on the beach. I personally like Old Style and Hamms. PBR is all right too. What about you, Joe?
Same here. There's a time and place for every beer (and style). I've never had Old Style, believe it or not. It's one of those beers that's on my mythical beer bucket list. I think doing a macro beer/lager tier list of the ones I've reviewed would be fun. I haven't reviewed a ton, but enough to do one. Maybe wait until later this year so I get more to add to the list. I think Genny Cream Ale is still above and beyond most, but who knows. PBR is up there, as it Hamm's. Miller High Life. Narragansett, too. So many out there, haha!
Cheers, man!
Cheers!! I love Bud
I'm glad you dig it, Jim! I appreciate the comment, man!
Cheers!
Modelo Negra would be a fun one for a Macro Monday. Probably my favorite macro/import beer. Cheers!
Good call, Cameron! I'll have to add that to the list. I dig me some Modelo Negra. Haven't had it a ton, but always enjoy it when I do.
Cheers, man!
King of beers? It was dethroned long ago.
Agreed. They still use "the King of Beers" tagline, though.
Cheers!
Not really. Still outsells just about all other brands to this day worldwide...
I taste corn flavor in the beer
While they don't use actual corn in the brewing process, they do use corn syrup, I believe, but it usually doesn't impart much of a corn flavor. You taste what you taste, though. The corn and rice flavor can be very similar in macro beers like this, though.
Cheers!
Who needs that much Bud at once? Good lord those cans are huge!
if your trashcan is on fire you could put it out
I certainly didn't want this much Budweiser, but it's better paying $2.50 for a can of this over paying $6-8 for a six pack. The rest of the can definitely met the sink. It's rare I drain-pour a beer, but it wasn't worth the calories nor the alcohol considering my situation.
Cheers, Chris!
Michael, I'm an old beer drinker, I was drinking Budweiser in the early 1970s. Today's Bud tastes NOTHING like the Bud of old, which was a fine beer back then. I think Inbev ruined it. Bud has no flavor, it's like club soda. Flavorless. I hate it. Give me PBR or Miller High Life or Genessee.
I'm not sure who Michael is, but I'll tell him, haha! My name is Joe, but I'm fine with Michael, too. Joey = Mikey. LMAO! Just jokin' around, of course.
As for Budweiser, I'll take your word for it. Every time I've had since I was able to drink (around the year 2000), I've always hated it. Like you said, give me any of the three you mentioned, along with Coors Banquet, Narragansett Lager and Hamm's. Just better beers, as a whole.
I appreciate the comment, man!
Cheers!
I don’t like Budweiser but I actually like Busch beer. But yeah for the most part I stay away.
I would actually agree with that. To me, Busch doesn't have much flavor, but it doesn't have the weird finish that Bud has. Definitely better macro beers out there over these two, though.
Cheers, Joe!
I’m a little confused how is this a micro brew ?
LOL! It's not a micro brew, Frank. It's a series on the channel I call "Macro Monday," where I review some macro beers. Usually happens once per month. It's fun to revisit some of the classic domestic beers, IMO. I'm quickly reminded why I don't drink this one, though.
Cheers, dude!
to think in the 80s is was just Budweiser..... I like bush too.... oh, Busch....nah yo, give me some Private Stock 40s (RIP)
LMAO! I like Bush ... the band. I'd totally drink Busch over this, but I honestly don't want either.
Cheers, dude!
I saw this go for $26 for a 12 pack in Singapore.
I would rather just drink some water at that point, Patrick. I wonder what other macro beers go for in Singapore? Anything cheaper?
Cheers!
now why would you do this to yourself Uce ? Budweiser taste like bar fights and bad decisions.
The sacrifices I make for the channel, haha! It's always fun to revisit beers like this, but then I drink them and ... yeah, bad decisions. At least I don't have to drink it willingly again!
Cheers, dude!
@@averagejoe716 ahah
Ah the King of Beers aka The Diesel as we call it around here. I have a spot for it since it was my first legal beer and beer at a baseball game. 20 years ago this was my go to. But I discovered craft beer and better macro lagers. Also I think since InBev bought AB the beer has changed tremendously and tastes cheap and watery. I think it’s the AB yeast that creates the odd dry finish as I taste it in all their beers. I think I will stick to Miller products for my macros. Cheers 🍻!
LMAO @ The Diesel. Yeah, I think nostalgia is high for beers like this. Heck, it's one of the reasons why I enjoy me some Genesee Cream Ale. I do think that odd finish is probably yeast (or maybe even hop related), but the thing is I don't get it in Busch. I'd take Busch over this any day of the week. I do prefer Miller (and Coors) products over Bud as far as the "big three" go.
Cheers, Dan!
It would be interesting to do a side by side with Busch. Busch uses corn and rice so that might impart a little more character and flavor. One AB product that we get in Minnesota is Michelob Golden it’s a cold filtered beer and my opinion dang delicious. Too bad it’s not found anywhere else besides the Upper Midwest.
For sure! If you don't follow Joe Senigaglia, I'd highly recommend checking out some of his beer battles. He does a ton of macro blind beer battles. Fun to watch. Good dude, as well. I've been considering doing some of those. I think it'd be fun, and Busch vs. Budweiser would definitely be on the list! Don't think I've ever seen Michelob Golden, but that makes sense considering where you said it's found.
Just shy of fifteen minutes on Budweiser? I'm gonna a need you to settle down, son!
Bro, you're lucky it wasn't 20+ minutes. IT'S THE KING OF BEERS, MIKE!
Cheers, buddy!
@@averagejoe716 😂😂😂
I. Am. Here. For. This.
Aren't you supposed to be "enjoying" your Fruited Tree House DIPAs and not viewing macro beer reviews? LMAO! Never thought I'd see the day when Joe becomes the macro king, baby! I've really been enjoying the battle beers. I need to do something like that at some point. Seems like a lot of fun. Just need to leave Bud Heavy out of it, haha!
Cheers, brother!
OE Macro Mondays? 😂
LMAO! I hope that "OE" stands for "original equipment" and we're not talking beer, hahaha!
Cheers, SH!
If you boiled rice...removed the rice leaving the water...added a touch of alcohol and carbonation, you would have Bud Heavy.
I could definitely see that. I like rice, but count me out on the rice water-laden Bud, haha!
Cheers!
What are some of your favorite macros?
Genesee Cream Ale would top the list for me at this point. Outside of that, Narragansett, PBR, Hamm's and Miller High Life would be on the list. Utica Club too, but I guess that's more pseudo-macro since F.X. Matt (Saranac) brews it. How about you?
Cheers, Michael!
@@averagejoe716 I don’t have too much experience with macro lagers, hence why I asked! I have been enjoying miller high life, going to try all of those you listed, with the exclusion of Hamms. Can’t ever seem to find it and I’m about 4hours south of you. I can find Narragansett and PBR easily. Not sure about the Genesee
Yeah, we don't get Hamm's in NY, as far as I know. I had a viewer of the channel send me a can. It's a shame because it's definitely up there within the style, IMO. You should be able to find any of the Genesee products, as you're in NY. The core range is basically the Cream Ale, Beer and Light. Let me know if you do find 'em!
@@averagejoe716 thanks. I sure will! I think I actually saw a 30pk at beer world the other day. Don’t know if I’ll buy that though, lol. What about Coors Banquet?
I do enjoy me some Banquet. It's tough for me to rank them all because they're all very similar with slight differences.
Butwiper 😂 cheers 🍻
LMAO! Appropriate.
Cheers, Billy!
You can’t argue with the #1 best selling beer all around the world! Thats why it’s called the “King of Beers”!
One of the few beers I'd choose a Coke over...Thanks for taking one for the team, lol
I'd drink Coke over a lot of things, and this is definitely one of 'em, haha!
Cheers!
