This is my man. My fucking man. He does all my tracks for chorus and damn well. He has saved me so much pain over the years bro you don't even get it, he has done tracks for every song I've ever done for advanced choir
The Chamber choir for my school is doing this piece. And might I say, WOW! Your tone is one of the richest I have ever heard. Not to mention your head voice is just as powerful as your chest. I'm a tenor as well, and this just makes me want to be better.
YES.......Matthew Curtis, Tenor has performed around the world with internationally recognized choral ensemble such as Chanticleer, San Francisco Symphony Chorus, Philharmonia Baroque, American Bach Soloists, and the Rose Ensemble. He founded Choral Tracks in 2012 to provide singers and choirs with the tools to revolutionize the way they learn music. Matthew has also worked with composers from over 20 countries to bring their new music to life
Matthew I really believe that no one knows how really difficult this is to arrange and yet sing. When I was a young boy in 1956, Fr. Cushing headed our boys choir and he accomplished half of what you have done. We were amazed at his octaves not nearly as spot on as you. You are truly blessed, but you already know that.
I'm a neophyte in sacred music, in spite of it this music moves my emotions, transports me, excites me, inspires me and helps me to continue on my way...music the only universal language that surpasses all borders and barriers. Heartfelt thanks Matthew
Used the audio for Tenor and Bass while I was still in Choir during my Junior year (20-21). My Junior year and my most of my classes, of course, including Choir at home on a computer.
I'm obsessed with Ola Gjeilo. This is better than the version on Northern Lights! Please make more practice tracks. Every song that ever existed, if possible. Thank you for your time.
Congrats from the Canary Islands! I´ve rehearsed and performed this piece several times with my actual choir, and it´s one of most moving songs I´ve ever sung. Keep doing this kind of works for us, the real choir music lovers!! Thanks a lot... P.D. I´ll be really pleased if you and everyone who watch this video listen some performances from my choir: Camerata Lacunensis. Thanks
Damn, that vocal leading up to the last part being " . . Voom!" at 1:15 , damn, does that hit a spot in my soul! (I don't speak the language and I don't know what he's singing about there, I wish I did, it sounds like the emotion is joyful or thankful, possibly weary?) That exact combination of those 4 chords playing simultaneously, wow. What IS it about choral music that seems to strikes people universally on so much deeper a level? Man, is it cool!!
it's a song about Love and Charity, you've hit it right on the head. it's Latin, which I don't speak, but we're singing it this autumn in our Chamber Choir, so we have the translation in our sheet music. I totally agree, when we first listened to the recording I listened without looking at the translation because it isn't just the words, it's the voice that makes the song a true piece of music.
+Bee Lovesquads thanks bee! any chance you might post or direct me to that translation? I wish you luck on your performance, break a leg! 😎 Hey B, if you'd like to hear something even more moving, go to youtube & put in Triumph time Canon. I HIGHLY recommend you listen to this with headphones, you'll get the full experience. it's one of the most amazing acapella pieces I've ever had the joy to hear, I promise you'll not regret taking the time, please let me know if you do & what you think! 😀
Thanks so much! and that sounds lovely, I'll take a listen as I finish noting the translation to you! "Ubi caritas et amor, Deus in est." -- "Where charity and love are, God is there." "Congregavit nos in unum Christi amor." -- "Christ's love has gathered us into one." "Exultemus, et in ipso lucundemur." -- "Let us rejoice and be pleased in Him." "Timeamus, et amemus Deum vivum." -- "Let us fear and let us love the living God." "Et ex corde diligamus nos sincero." -- "And may we love each other with a sincere heart."
+Bee Lovesquads wow, your so kind & generous with your time to a total stranger, I'm impressed & flattered by your charity. :-P You have my word you'll be very happy you took the time to find & watch the video (I wish I knew how to include links in these text areas). :-( I want to reiterate honeybee about listening to it with a pair of headphones if your able, it's literally as big a difference as say being asked out to the prom by the homecoming King, or a horny 80 year suffering from incontinence nicknamed 'Spots' because of all the liver spots covering his exterior! Both get you to the prom, but one provides an ENTIRELY different experience & enjoyment than the other! ;-) And please, I'm so intruqued what a younger person like yourself will feel/think about this special & difficult of a performance, & hopefully will be as blown away as I was by its power, so if you could, please let me know what u thought. Rik Emmett has a lifelong background & passion of choir, & indirectly introduced me to it through his music, which has grown to 1 of my greatest passions. B-)
So glad that there are still people like you out there. Who are kind to everyone and just spend a little bit of their time to make someone else a great day. So much love to both of you, you really made my day. (Sorry for the bad english)
This is so lovely. Our tai chi instructor has this in rotation for music during the practice part of our class. Parting the Horse's Mane, Waving hands Like Clouds, Jade Maiden at the Shuttles, all flow beautifully (American style Tai Chi in Portland OR) .
This was too good. I am not joking when I say I was brought to tears. Absolutely beautiful and for a second I thought this was autotuned. The tone and clarity of your voice is astounding and I wish I could sing that beautiful tenor line without having my passaggio get in the way. At any rate, I loved this so much, I cannot wait to see what else you put out!
My choir sang this song for competitions! You did wonderfully! I was singing along with you! Its nice to hear the songs I sang, sung by wonderfully talented people like yourself! Great job!
Being able to blend with yourself makes the harmonies sound especially tight, your sound is incredible! We did this song in my choir as well as Loch Lochmond which you performed. These videos helped us find our sound, thank you!
Mr Curtis.... I would firstly like to take this opportunity to thank you for bringing your gift to this world. May I be so bold as to ask what your vocal classification is and how do you develop it. I am a contra tenor by education but nothing like this. I tip my hat to you, Sir! Thank-you!
Thank you Mat for your version. I found Ubi Caritas by Gjeilo sufing in TH-cam back in january (in my country Argentina is summer) and started performing it with my choir. Listening your performance of this opus, is also a pleasure. Congratulations.
This is absolutely beautiful. What a wonderful rendition of a lovely piece. I look forward to enjoying more of your multitracks in the future. Just enchanting!
It is impressive when someone can not only sing soprano, alto, tenor, and bass, but sing them all well too
The bass in this songs is actually a tenor.
I also can sing all parts....
@@lassebrynildsen7814 as a choral singer, and someone who’s performed this piece, respectfully, it isn’t a tenor part
I'm speechless
This is my man. My fucking man. He does all my tracks for chorus and damn well. He has saved me so much pain over the years bro you don't even get it, he has done tracks for every song I've ever done for advanced choir
What language!
Sublime.
Quand j'écoute, je me dis qu'il existe bien des clés qui ouvrent nos âmes.
I am crying....what gives you the RIGHT to be so EXQUISITE??? 👀
This is nothing short of the most incredible multitrack I've ever heard.
The Chamber choir for my school is doing this piece. And might I say, WOW! Your tone is one of the richest I have ever heard. Not to mention your head voice is just as powerful as your chest. I'm a tenor as well, and this just makes me want to be better.
Bellissimo
This is such a simple video and yet it is part of the best content in the whole youtube world
Spoken from the heart...
Agreed. Exquisite
What a stunning musical tour de force! Thank you Matthew! And thank you to Ola Gjeilo for the music of this old prayer forever modern!
Man, you made distinction between soprano and alto colour (timbre) in these female parts. Outstanding! Gifted guy.
Still the best version I've heard of this piece. Bravo.

Beautiful music four times beautifully sung.
So beautifully sung.
I wish we could watch this and see the music at the same time.
OH! I stumbled upon this quite by accident but I am now a HUGE fan.

He didn’t arrange it. And the sound it mastered quite heavily most likely using Melodyne to correct the pitch.

J'adore toutes les musiques d'Ola gjeilo
