No, sir we do not pray to a tree. The bodhi tree is symbolic of Lord Buddha’s enlightenment. The tree gave shade to the bodhisatva (one who is aspiring for enlightenment) Just as the enlightened Buddha did, we express our gratitude for the same reason. Bodhi means enlightenment and is used symbolically to what every truly Buddhist individual aspires towards - Nirvana - a state of not being - without attachment, free from bondage, ending the cycle of births and deaths. We do not believe in a trans migratory soul. Nothing is an entity. All beings ( there are 32 planes of existence - not only the human realm) are an aggregate of material and mental processes that journey through samsara ( existence through continuous births and deaths) accumulating experiences that have the potential to give repercussions through thought. This is just a minute intro into Theravada Buddhism. It’s vast and infinite.
Thank you very much ❤️❤️❤️ this is information is precious

they are not praying for trees ,that tree(bodhi tree) which is in almost every sri lankan temple is the same species that 2 600 years ago buddha sitting under before enlightenment . buddha pay his respect to that tree after enlightened bcz it gave him shade and protection ..so until today sri lankan buddhists also pay respect for that tree following buddha, its for follow the teaching of buddha to love the nature ,respect the nature, pay gratitude for things/people who helped you.
fun fact ;- almost all bodhi trees in sri lankan temples right now is a branch of original bodhi tree which buddha sit under 2600 years ago in india
let me explain , in 500 BCE (2500 years ago) sri lankan king brought a branch from original bodhi tree to lanka from india, months after the arrival of buddhism to the island.
and from then every buddhist temple got branches of that to plant in their temples, then branches of branches to next temples, and branches of those to next temples, so almost every bodhi tree in sri lankan temples are decendents from original tree
another fun fact :- the 1st branch of original bodhi tree brought to Lanka is still surviving on the sacred city of anuradhapura sri lanka , and its nominated as THE OLDEST HUMAN PLANTED TREE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD ,not just in sri lanka, oldest in entire world
Thank You if you read this or Not🙂
Loved this explanation! Thank you so much

Don't be suprised if your channel start to expand exponentially😊. You just now did something great which can not be explained in words😊
😱😱😱😱 we are deeply grateful for those words! We truly want to inspire people to travel and have the opportunity to know about all the cultures in the world ❤️
Buddhism is understood by a simple man with a clear mind. Buddhism is not for people highly educated framed into believing what some one else taught or passed down by generation. Buddhism is seeing and experiencing life by self and realizing that attachment brings the same amount of pain when you lose the thing attached to.
We love to hear these perspectives! Are you a follower of Buddhism?
I just subscribed to your channel and the monk was correct. It would be interesting to show aspects of Sri Lankan culture, temples, foods, markets. Greetings from Argentina
It is really curious to understand this perspectives 😌 there is a lot of cultures around the world

That is so great 😍🫶 we love this culture!
Good video. Thank you sir for introducing our country pride to whole world
Thank you my friend🙏
The Bodhi tree shaded Lord Buddha, enabling him to attain enlightenment (to understand this existence( the cyclic simulation I woud say) and find a path to escape it) and teach the way of enlightenment to everyone. One of the main purposes of revering the Bodhi tree is to show Buddhist gratitude for it. In that sense, the Bodhi tree symbolizes an inner understanding of reality (true intelligence). So ultimately, showing gratitude for the Bodhi tree also means respecting one's own inner intelligence.
This is how I understood this!
incredible 💖 thank you very much for this feedback 😊
Whoaaa I didn't know this! Thank you so much
Welcome to Sri Lanka ❤️🇱🇰 nice video
Thanks my friend

Craving is threefold- this is to do with your consciousness - craving for existence, creature comforts (sensual experience through the six senses) and non-existence. It’s these cravings (desires) that keep you in existence to accumulate experiences for future lives. We are all beings of energy. The alarming thing is, you have the potential to be born in any of the 32 realms (according to your thought processes, especially the last thought at death coz this determines your next birth ) and some are not happy realms at all! That’s why you need to be mindful to have wholesome thoughts at all times. 🙂
This one gave me a lot of goosebumps 🥹
Amazing, right? 🤟
Shake your arms! It also works as invisibility trick!

Thanks brother ❤️ you are the best
This great episode and please follow this gentleman man Sri Lanka, he is doing something great.
As you said devotees doesn't pray to a tree. Boo tree is a symbol.Lord Bhudha was meditating under the BOO Tree, It help to atain the Enlightenment,( buddhahood)
Thats why as a gesture of goodwill and gratitude , Buddha himself respected every single person and objects, help him to find the true Parth to do away from life circle. Thats why you will find a boo tree in every temple. That's teach us the respect and gratitude. Buddhism isn't a religion, its a way of life , philosophy. Don't get mixed up with Sri Lankan culturer and traditions with Buddhism. Every country practice their faith with the traditions and cultures of their own land.
Basic in Buddhism for a laymen
To understand is just to get away from attachments. That will keep tou away from many misdeeds. Also keeping in mind Change is the only thing in this world is permanent but not any others.
Buddhism is a deep philosophy. People need educated brains to understand and practice. Its not a religion, definitely not a blind faith.
Its always goes with sience.
There's no creator or destroyer s in Buddhism. Every single living soul is a creator plus destroyer. Our only deeds will give results what we deserve. Be mindful of things we do always .then troubles will keep away from all.
Have a safe happy and mindful stay in Sri Lanka .
Much ❤
This is really helpful! Thank you very much for the explanation 💖 we definitely have a lot to learn about this way of life 😊
Great vid
This video is my favourite so far 🎉❤
You need to wait for the next one 😱😱😱
Love this video ..❤

We will try my friend 👋

Bodhi tree = it is a Banyan tree symbolism of Lord Buddha. We do not pray to this tree but we show our gratitude to teachings of the Buddha by worshipping it. It doesnt really mean we worship or pray to this tree. Its the eastern way of showing gratitude to the immense service or teachings of the Buddha, which leads to Nirvana.
Story of the Bodhi tree is that Buddha attained Nirvana or Buddhahood under a Banyan tree (Bodhi tree). After attaining the Buddhahood, Buddha himself showed respect to mother nature by standing near the tree, memorising what he achieved as the Buddha (as this is the ultimatum).
So, connecting yourself to nature under a tree and showing respect in different ways. Bodhi tree therefore plays a significant role in the Buddhist culture (not necessarily the core teachings of the Buddhism but the CULTURE)
Btw, your videos are enlightening!
Thank you very much my friend ❤️❤️❤️ this is so precious! Thank you for the information 🙌

suffering arises from craving and attachment. We suffer because we desire things and become attached to them. This includes material possessions, relationships, and even our own identities.
An example of suffering due to craving and attachment to material possessions can be seen in someone who constantly desires the latest gadgets, even when they already have functional devices. This craving for new possessions can lead to financial strain and a sense of dissatisfaction if the desired items are not obtained. To
Consider a person who becomes overly attached to a romantic partner, expecting them to fulfill all their emotional needs. When this attachment becomes too strong, any perceived distance or disagreement in the relationship can cause immense suffering due to the fear of losing that person or not receiving the desired level of attention and affection.
This is the extra context I needed! Thank you so much
So what is the solution? We got the impression that we need to detach from everyone but what happens to family and loved ones?
Keen to learn 😊
@@natachaln the concept of detachment does not imply cutting off all relationships, including family and loved ones. Instead, detachment involves cultivating a mindset where one can appreciate and engage in relationships without being solely dependent on them for happiness and fulfillment. Here's how this principle can be applied to family and loved ones:
@@natachaln Balancing Attachment:** It is essential to strike a balance in relationships with family and loved ones. While it's natural to feel love and care for them, excessive attachment can lead to suffering when expectations are not met. Detachment in this context means appreciating these relationships without clinging to them for one's sense of self-worth or happiness.
2. **Embracing Impermanence:** Buddhist teachings emphasize impermanence, highlighting that all relationships, including those with family and loved ones, are subject to change. Understanding and accepting this impermanence can help in reducing attachment and the associated suffering when circumstances evolve.
@@natachaln 3 Practicing Compassion:** Detachment does not mean indifference or neglect towards family members. Instead, it involves cultivating compassion and understanding in relationships. By approaching interactions with empathy and kindness, individuals can foster healthy connections while detaching from unrealistic expectations and desires.
4. **Communication and Boundaries:**
Setting clear communication and boundaries within family dynamics can aid in maintaining healthy relationships without becoming excessively attached. Open dialogue about needs, expectations, and personal boundaries can foster mutual respect and understanding, reducing the potential for attachment-related suffering..
❤️❤️❤️❤️

4:16 this buddhist monk also attached to the life he is already living .
If we broke all temples then make them labours ,
they became crazy and feel the sufferings cause of their attachments to their monk life ..
Everybody is attached to life, immaterial of being a monk or lay person. When you are a being who has travelled from aeons - from a time even before this planet came into existence, that is not something that you can shed in a single lifetime. Lord Buddha showed us a path that would take you from being attached to the renunciation of worldly things to a state of non- attachment, and thereby you annihilate birth. It’s a vast Dharma, and a gradual process . Monks will speed up this process for themselves because they have already sacrificed a lay life and entered into the path. This does not mean that they have attained the necessary criteria yet, but they have more time to strive for it. Without engaging diligently in this course, nobody would realize anything but continue in the cycle of births and rebirths. So be respectful towards a person who is engaged in a wholesome act, while disseminating the Dharma for others to learn as well. We accumulate karma through thoughts, deeds and speech. Be careful of what you utter.
That monk is not living there for a long time every 6 months the changed their place 🙂
@@Feelings20042 their places are their attachments... And their life is also a attachment to them..
If they have not these attachments they will get instant salvation..

Seriously 😂. Wait a minute, who is this guy.
You can love someone with out attachment.
Good perspective 😊
The this is we have to aware about attachment. One day i have to abandoned all these things. Then, when we fase to that moment , without grief, sorrow tolerate it.
