E-TWOW Booster GT vs Booster V - Is it worth to upgrade?

  • According to our daily user experience we can present the differences between the brand new ETWOW Booster GT vs ETWOW Booster V.
    Autonomy expected @65kg of load, 1m70 (battery down to 20%)
    - Speedlimited @25km/h: 40km+
    - Speedlimit off (over 34km/h): 30km
    Autonomy expected @95kg of load, 1m92 (battery down to 20%):
    - Speedlimited @25km/h: 33-35km
    - Speedlimit off (over 34km/h): 22km
    Conclusion - what we like:
    - The ETWOW GT has much more torque compare to the V. Appreciable when you are an heavy guy, it will cross little slope like bridges almost without efforts.
    - When not speed limited, you'll feel a little "kick" when you pass the 30km/h mark point. Nice!
    - Extra acceleration also brings more safety when you need to accelerate when the lights turn green into traffic. Cars won't take the risk to overtake in the first 20m.
    - Longer deck board gives a more manoeuvrable feeling. Easier to avoid a pothole or such other bad things coming on the road.
    - Autonomy was a kind of a surprise! 20km at max speed (without speed limit) isn't bad at all imo. 30km+ @25km/h is really decent.
    - Speedometer is now more accurate! (but still not perfect)
    - Battery gauge: for previous ETWOW Booster user, we all noticed that the gauge was dropping off to 0% very quick from 50%. Not the case anymore! When showing 50% left, you can trust it (though not recommendend to drive under 20% battery).
    What we regret:
    - Not much actually, already a big fan of the ETWOW Booster for more than a year and half.
    - Optional Cruise control has been removed. Why?
    - No more P3 - max speed 30kmh - was kind of nice to go a bit faster without driving crazy.
    - Still not waterproof.
    - Front light is good to be seen, but not to see.
    Is it worth to upgrade? If you are looking for more torque/acceleration and a bigger autonomy, definitely yes. Other than that? Not really. Just wait for the next generation ;)
    Nota: sorry for the windy conditions, we couldn't do better. Our conclusion was almost inaudible... impossible to add to the video infortunately...
    Thank's for watching, other tests are coming, hopefully soon :)

    Really nice review that made me interested in E-twow. I just recieved my Booster GT 2020 version with a drum brake and a kickstand. I Love it!!! Huge improvement from my Xiaomi M365 of course. So much fun!
    I'm a big guy of 108 kg and I reached 39 km/h (on display) without elevation which I think is really good! I drove for 23 km with 10% to go on the battery. It was 8 degrees outside, so the range will be longer in summer temperatures.

      Hello Erik, I have the GT2020 too, is your throttle lever OK on smaller speeds too? If you want to go for example with 27km steady, you press the lever 100% and when you reach that speed you release the lever a little (to 80% for example), you can maintain that speed. If you want to go with 12km however, the lever at the beginning doesn’t have a way to adjust (for low speeds). If you press the lever at 5% it starts accelerating and when you reach the speed, if you release it to 2% the engine stops and is very hard to find the 3-3.5% needed to keep that speed. Try to maintain a 12km speed with a GT 2020 to check for yourself and let me know.

    Instead of a single 700 watt motor why not have dual 350w motors? It would help balance the weight of the scooter and make it easier to carry. Plus it would provide better speed and braking. I wouldn't mind it being heavier. If it's under 16kg (35lbs) then I would for sure upgrade.

    • @_Digitalguy
      @_Digitalguy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I don't agree. They would be more unbalanced actually. etwow are easy to carry unfolded (e.g. on stairs) because they have the weight in the front, once you put the weight in the back the are only easy to carry folded, which they are already now if you add a handle (and generally sellers bundle the handle with the scooter). I have tried a dual motor etwow and it's much harder to carry. Also the advantage of single motor is that you can add a mechanic break in the back wheel, which is important at this speed. If you want to go dual motor they should put 2 powerful motors (at least 500 or even 700 each) otherwise it's not worth the additional weight and unbalance.

    • @MyMobelity
      @MyMobelity  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      IMO, the big advantage of the etwow compare to competitors is the ration between autonomy/weight. Doing that many km under 12kg, they are the only one. If you want heavier machine, there are some other brands able to do that. I don't say I wouldn"t like to get an etwow with two motors, if ETWOW create another type of scooter with dual motor, 16k, ... great! but I would probably replace it agains the GT cause I love to climb my stairs without any efforts while carrying the scooter :)

    The Booster V is heavy to carry for most people for an extended time like at the metro station or what not. If you're going to add another kilogram with a larger deck WHY ON EARTH did ETOW not design a freakin handle so that riders can drag it on one wheel?! The larger deck makes the scooter taller so the ability to drag makes perfect sense. Otherwise, what I am seeing is a slight improvement in acceleration, a better unfolding mechanism to let the scooter rest, which I always thought was awkward on the Booster V, and a better battery plug which is also horrible on the Booster V. Is that worth $60 if you add in the extra kg?? I don't think so

    guess what, these things break and stop working often. When they break, you have no service options except to ship them back to the company located in california on your dime plus repair costs. My first etwow cost 1000$, i got 1500 miles out of it then it died, the company convinced me to upgrade to a booster v and gave me a discount, another $1000. that one died after 1800 miles, I had to send it back 3 separate times to have it serviced and repaired. It still doesn't work right. All the parts are faulty, the controllers are garbage and made in china, they break often from my experience. I would never buy anything from uscooter / etwow again. Total garbage. Great when and if it works but IMO, too expensive for a disposable scooter. you have been warned. These reviews are nonsense, let's see a review from someone who has traveled over 3000 miles on one of these, you wont find any because they don't exist.
