    I think I might have been one of those guys that Alexi described. I'm 50 years old and I've a been a huge Megadeth fan ever since KIMB. Last November my son and I went to see Megadeth, supported by COB, LoG, and Sylosis, at Manchester. What an incredible eye opener. I'd seen some major headliners in the past with some dreadful support acts but the performances at Manchester were outstanding from all. Up until this point I'd never heard anything from COB, LOG, or Sylosis, but now all three are regulars on my play lists. Just goes to show you're never too old to be opened up to new vibrations.
    Regards
    Nidge

      +sputniksam I've learned it's good to keep an open mind too.
      While I have been to shows where the opening acts were horrible (my first time seeing Motörhead was at a mainstream festival and I was dying for the band before to be done and just go away), there have been far more many times when I had such nice surprises from the opening acts.
      At this point, I'm equally happy with an opening act I already know and like or with an unknown band that I wouldn't see otherwise.
      And one more thing to remember... they're people too. I can't help but wonder how it must feel for an opening band when the only people there are those who came early for a spot at the barrier and half of them aren't even paying attention. At the end of the day, I don't go to shows to make anyone feel bad, I go to headbang. It doesn't cost me anything to pay attention to the opening bands and, if I can headbang on their stuff, I will. If I enjoy it, I'll let them know.

      He almost caught him when he said 'Trump sounds like a racist', then he tried to bad wagon him on that later and Alexi put his hand to his face like realizing "oh shit i slipped", but he handled it nicely. Good answer 15 beers deep and never said anything like that. This interviewer doesn't know Europeans, they don't pander to racism so it put him in an uncomfortable position. That's like asking an American guitarist their opinion on the IRA. I've been around drunk Europeans and not one of them said the 'n' word, I've been around sober Americans and, well. But all in all, Black Americans in general real on metal music has racial overtones so the guy actually attempts a publicity favor out of all the people Alexi addresses its worth.

      I never said no such thing. What I DID say is Metal has never been considered "left wing"....ever and that the interviewer shouldn't be asking Alexi questions regarding politics or racism because he's knows he will only receive the "trendy" answers. Luckily Alexi is smart enough to know that and he gave the appropriate answers. Had he publicly agreed that Trump should be president or Phil has the right to show his white pride, then all the progressive pussies would publicly flame him, even though they secretly shared his opinion.

    Phil is NOT a racist. Phil came from a place where he was bullied by racist blacks in bad aread he grew up in. First of all, lets remember that he porusely apologized for what he did at that concert...and sincerely, with tears and honesty and humbleness. That said, what he did that time was wrong..he admits it, he was pissed off at being constantly race shamed for the accident of birth of being born white, Phil is not a supremacist or a racist of any kind, he's an individualist, what he IS is a white/male who is doe snot give into the racist and sexist bullying by regressive leftists and others trying to guilt white people and males simpley for being born that way. That's it. What he did at that concert was just him lashing out in the wrong way cause he is rightly fed up with such b.s. and racial bullying of whites and gender bullying of males..by regressive left radical gender feminist hypocrites.
    Why is this such a big story? If Phil was black and did some black panthers salute or something{like Beyonce did and got away with}..btw, the black panthers are a SUPREMACIST group..look them up...they routinely talk aboit killing white people and even white children at their meetings, if he wa sblack and did that...no one would bat an eye lid over it. This whole controversy just shows how radical gender feminism and regressive leftism and it's orwellian hypocrisies POISONS EVERYTHING..including the metal community.
    Phil is an individualist, but yeah he's also proud of being white..moreso he's proud of the traditioons and heritage of western enlightenment influenced culture, how's that bad? If he wa sblack and proud of it..the same people calling him racist now..would'nt. It's absurd the abuse he has had to put up with. Phil respects INDIVIDUALS of ALL races, genders, and creeds, he made aerror in judgement one time because he got fed up with it all..righyl so{being fed up with it, not the salute thing..which he apologized for several times..in sinserity..and yet he's still geting blasted for it; meanwhile Beyonce has not apologized for her shit...and no one bullies her over it}. --think about it.
    All the values the metal community is about, freedom of thought/concience/opinion and speech/expression, anti-censorship, pro-liberty and indivdualism, liberal demcoracy, pluralism and secularism, reason and science and so on ahnd so forth, these were all born and put forth by the enlightenment..which was first born from European culture{which by chance happens to be white, it was born from white western..mainly males, get sued to it, this doe snot mean we are better than others inherently racially or gender wise, it just so happens this great tradition of enlightenment..the same that produced numerous kind sof diversity and tolerance thereof...was born from western..white culture}. It is ironic to see this..which metal community owes a debt of gratitude too.spat on by metalheads, how ironic

  • @20quid
    @20quid 8 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    It really does piss me off just how much racism and homophobia there is in rock and metal nowadays. It really does feel like the community has lost touch with its roots. This scene was always home for the misfits, for the non-conformists, for those who felt like the world didn't have a place for them. It didn't matter where you came from, where you were going, what shit you had to put up with, there was a home for you here because all anyone cared about was the music. Nowadays it feels like that's just increasingly not true, and that's really pathetic.
    Where are all of the black rock and metal artists? It's pretty disgraceful how rarely they make it to the top considering they basically invented the genre. Rock music grew out of blues and the big band scene. When Elvis was first played on the radio, everyone thought he was black. From those early days, rock music has been innovated upon and forwarded by many LGBT and BAME artists, James Brown, Joan Jett, Jimi Hendrix, Pete Townshend, David Bowie, Rob Halford, Slash. Rock and metal would not be where they are today without their contribution.
    When did the community become so conservative? Rock and metal always belonged to the liberals. We used to rebel against the status quo, conservatives used to hate us and think we were corrupting their children. Now it seems as though too many people want us to go back to that repressive "white is right" society the community was born to fight.

      20quid you're confusing the Christian-Right, and Right-Wing, which are 2 very different things.
      True, metal has been a place for non-conformists - but don't get it twisted - metal has always been far from the left of politics. Government interference, pc bullshit, it's all progressive, far-left shit.
      Most of my metalhead friends growing up, and now - are ALL center-right politically. We left the urban blight, and all of its lies about multiculturalism
      Make no mistake. I ain't no racist. But the truth & reality comes across as racist when you're not PC. That is the problem. The liberals are about mind control. So, fuck them. Tom Araya, Blitz from Overkill, James Hetfield, Phil, Alice Cooper, Dave Mustaine...ALL center-right metal icons. And the list is growing. Keep up the insanity liberals.

      Not literally of course, but borders prevent an influx of migrants who can disrupt the cultural values, economic status, and the standard of living in a country. Want proof? Take a look at the Syrian "refugees" who are flooding into Europe and imposing their oppressive ways on the native population.

      +gounderus course not, just Trump has a bigger stature than Phil, Trump will affect more people than Phil ever will because more people know about him. Think About the Average group of American people, how many know about Phil compare to how many know about Trump, so it makes sense more people would criticize Trump.

    • @gounderusbyMichaelTomlins
      @gounderusbyMichaelTomlins 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +V10 FSI Perhaps. It's a good point. Trump does have more exposure; however, when it comes to the focus of influence, politicians, teachers, pastors,advertisers parents, etc focus on the youth demographic. I would suggest the youth demo know Phil over Trump.

    • @shethinksimironman
      @shethinksimironman 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +gounderus very true, but sadly not too many people know about Phil, if it was someone like James Hetfield doing that, everyone would be after him just like Trump because Hetfield's stature. To be honest, Pantera or anything else Phil has been up to ever got to household name level, where anyone would know him. Phil's just buried in the Metal heap. Only people in the Metal community would really know of Phil's existence. Again, But if it was James Hetfield... (Side note, Pantera is famous because of Dime, not Phil)
