An Object Lesson on Hope

🏀Bethy offers an object lesson for kids on hope. When people usually say, "I hope..." they are really just talking about a wish, but when we talk about our Hope in the Lord, it's not like vague wish that things will turn out. It is a sure expectation that we have in our unchanging, faithful God.🏀

1) What are the 2 different kids of hope from today's lesson?
2) What is the difference between hope and Hope in the Lord?
3) Why is Hope in the Lord more like gravity?
4) Can we count on God?
5) Are His promises always true?
6) What is our Hope in Christ?
7) Are you putting your hope in Christ? or in something else?
8) Look up Hebrews 6:18-20 with your kids and talk about how God can not lie. His promises are true. We can be certain when we put our hope in him.

Lesson Notes:
Here are the instructions for this lesson so you can reproduce it for your kids or class.
Materials:
-Your Bible bookmarked to Psalm 62:5-6
- Coin
- Ball
Directions:
- Start off flipping a coin. Show how it is an uncertain hope.
-Talk about how Hope in the Lord is much more certain than hope in any other thing or person.
-Throw a ball up and catch it several times.
-Read Psalm 62:5-6 and talk about God being our solid fortress.
-If time permits, Read Hebrews 6:18-20. We can be sure that the promises of God are true because He can not lie! We have hope in Him for eternity.
-Talk about what we are specifically hoping in. Eternal Life with Christ and the fact that in the end, Jesus will make all things on this earth right and that He will have victory.
-Ask the questions from the lesson and get your class to engage by responding to what they learned. Particularly, that they would be able to apply these truths to their lives.
All Scriptures were taken out to the ESV (English Standard Version) of the Bible.
