The question is if the moment arm is long the greater will torque. But what is in the car or any motor if there will be large moment arm the lesser torque will be produced. So I'm little bit confused about it's mechanics. One more thing why in counter clockwise motion the torque is positive.
for the first question the torque will be greater if you keep force constant in both cases, but it will change if force is changed ( as torque is dependent on Force as well as Moment arm T=F*d) ; Case:-1 Force = 10 N and Moment Arm = 1 m, therefore torque = 10 Nm Case :-2 Force = 5 N and Moment Arm = 2 m, therefore torque = 10 Nm . . For second question, because the direction of the torque by the right-hand rule (hold your right hand in air and directs your thumb towards sky which denotes the axis of rotaion and your fingers in curve which denotes angular motion) is showing upright thumb (towards sky) for anticlockwise motion, where as in clockwise motion it will be downward facing thumb (towards earth) hence the ealier is positive and later is negative. Hope this will clear your doubt.. !!
