    I first heard this song on vinyl in 1971 when the album came out. I grabbed my acoustic guitar and tried to play along, but could never get it to sound quite right. Having baby blues myself, the song has haunted me ever since. Now I'm 69 and still picking. Today, while stuck at home during the pandemic, I finally got it down and I'm jamming away on it. BIG thanks to Justin and TH-cam for sharing music and instructional videos. God bless y'all and keep you safe.

    I have bought an electric guitar, been practicing various chords for a week now and added this video (the first few minutes) to my practice. I really love how you break it down, as an absolute beginner it makes it fun to watch and 'easier' to repeat. Thank you so much for this video, I'm sure I'll be watching much more of them!
    My love is Dchord, sus4, that's never Asus2, really made me laugh btw.

    Well, although I'm using Rocksmith to learn this song, this is a great lesson. I just came here for the picking patter, assumed I'd pick it up quicker having it explained than playing through it - didn't even realize it was all the same chord position, so that'll help.
    I just felt compelled to watch the whole video, great lesson.

    Love this song, Justin. I still need to get the hang of the bridge but like you say, listening to the recording should help that out. On a side note, have you ever posted a discussion on fingernails and what do do about reinforcing them and such? I currently get acrylic but I'm open to alternatives if you have any suggestions. Cheers and keep up the great work!

    • @fakemcfaketon249
      @fakemcfaketon249 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The G is 355433 and the D is x57775, but you don’t really have to play the bottom string on the D, think of them as just an E and an A chord moved up some frets

    • @williamb4652
      @williamb4652 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ya like Fake says the G is an E shape barre chord with the barre on the 3rd fret. 3rd fret on the E string is a G, and that’s your root note.
      The D is an A shape barre chord with the barre on the 5th fret. Because it’s an A shape chord, you need to mute the low E string with the tip of your first finger, and take the root note from the A string. 5th fret of the A string as a D, so an A shape barre chord played there is a D.

    You've really made it as simple as possible to get back into guitar. I am getting so confused, for Dsus4 to D I can see those are 1/2 a bar each but what about E to A and G to Gsus4 on the chorus? I'm writing the music down in a way I can read it and I can't get those two transitions.

    Awesome Lesson! I have been trying to get this one down for a long time. You have taught me so much, I can't thank you enough! I did have one question about this video though, at the 14.09 mark you say you strike the fifth string, but you strike the fourth string, I was just wondering which one it was. I'm going with the fourth for now. Just curious.

    Fantastic lesson but I think there's a wrong chord in here somewhere. . . . . "As my conscience seems to be . . . " is followed by an E6sus 4 (042200) and not with that quick 'A' you mention. Sorry to mention it!
    But thanks for the picking at the beginning which I could never get right.
