the problem with your example is that in English, the written world bass can be pronounced as "base" as use in music, or like "bass" as in the fish. and even then, it's not really pronounced "high base" but rather "HIGH-vas" {emph on 1st syllable}. although you are correct in that the name of band is derived from the band's original name High Bass (as in the music bass).
