oh man this run, so glad its still on TH-cam i somehow deleted my local recording of it this run is so much fun to watch. :) even better it has the link to the archive so I can download it again. Thanks guys, and I'm looking forward to seeing the videos after SGDQ man that's gonna be fun!
Excellent run, dude! I love Megaman's run in this. There's something demented about playing the underpowered character the game obviously wasn't designed for and making him win. I love the King fortress music, too.
This game is overall a lot more fun to play as Bass than Megaman,it's like they designed the game for Bass and realized "wait people will get mad if there is no Megaman" and then copy-pasted Megaman from Megaman 8 and made some platformers all over the place so Megaman can actually beat the game.
oh, well that's cool. I've been watching some of the other runs throughout the weekend off and I thought I saw someone mention something like that. I hope I can catch it this next year and get in on some of the fun.
The bolt discrepancies are hilarious because it wasn't the little clinging robots. He just got charged 1 less bolt than he should have for two different items.
Normal gameplay mechanic. Randomly, Auto will remark "Odd, there seems to be a bolt left over. Still looks fine", or something to that extent, and you'll get a one bolt discount.
Typically between english and japanese versions of games there will be little to no difference in gameplay, so games with scrolling text end up saving seconds to minutes of time in japanese because it requires less characters.
I'm surprised about the things they said about Megaman. As a kid, I could only beat this game with Megaman and the sole reason for that was the platform they give you whe fighting King's giant mech. I had such a hard time hitting it with Bass that I gave up. I was able to get to Wily with Bass once, but I never defeated him.
Love seeing some great games played for a good cause, even more fun to see some people show off some amazing speedrun skills. Got hooked last night watching Super Metroid *holy crap that Kraid* Just one question, I've seen several Speedruns that use Japanese text as default, is there some kind of advantage to setting it to another language?
Many unfortunate deaths (Minus the intentional King Jet shortcut death), but the execution of several neat and difficult tricks more than made up for it (L.Bolt zips/double jump, Insta-kill on Wily Capsule). Previous comment removed due to finding romscout's Forte run.
SDA what's your favourite 'obscure' run of this event. By obscure I simply mean not one of the biggies, like SM64 120, WinWaker etc. Mine I think has to be the MGS3 run by Molotov. To get FoxHound rank on European Extreme in a single-segment marathon run, that's just damn classy!
Any glitch in a game can corrupt the files, so yes. The more you glitch the more likely it is to happen and certain points are more likely to fail than others.
This game really calls into question how Megaman was ever able to beat Bass considering how much crappier he is in comparison to Bass. And I really wish they had chosen to play as Bass.
He has the Counter Attack item which gives him a ton of extra damage but only activates when his health is at 6 or less. He tries to take just enough damage throughout the stage so it's active for the boss.
That's a small pet peeve of mine, but when donators write that they "are short on money so this is all I can spare", that annoys me a bit. Like, who cares about your economy?

The graphics in this game are immensely impressive for being on the SNES. It never fails to impress.

This is the exact game i've been waiting to be played since I first found this channel months ago.
That Wily capsule fight is INCREDIBLY frustrating, especially in a game with no E-Tanks, so seeing that quick kill is amazing.

it still sucks that we play as bass/forte on here but it took them 9-10 games to FINALLY play as protoman

I dunno if PJ will ever see this, but--in Legend of Dragoon, opposing elements are weak to each other. Water Fire, Wind Earth & the like.
