I weep for a world that watches this 2.2 K times in two and a half years. Kids, when your parents say that they got to see all the good bands, just accept it.
Nobody will understand. My punk band opened for Green Day three times. My surf band played with the Makers and Man or Astroman. I saw public enemy and sonic youth in 1990. I saw 108 and Shelter open for 7 seconds. I saw Antioch Arrow, Heroin, Slant 6, JSBX, Elliott smith at a tiny record store in SF. I SAW KARP, BLACK SABBATH TWICE, IGGY, NIRVANA, BUZZCOCKS, RANCID, SUPERCHUNK, SCREAMING TREES, WEEN, L7. Primus played our dorm. I saw ROKY ERICKSON. & SLAYER. That but scratches the surface. Went to Burning Man 98 and saw Goa Gil. You kids have NO IDEA.
I was 17 and there in Adelaide as a punter, Fortunately years later living in Syd I crewed for both Rob Younger New Christs & Chris Masuak in Screaming Tribesmen and Johnny Kannnis and the Hitmen Great times
One of the best live bands I've ever seen. 50th anniversary tour coming up May 2024. Gonna see them at the Manning Bar, Sydney Uni. There's gonna be a new race Kids are gonna start it up We're all gonna mutate Kids are saying yeah hup! Yeah hup! Really gonna punch you out!
At 62 now,I was lucky enough to be a part of all this great, real music. To all millennial, slackers, hipster never pay their college loan back & working as a self proclaimed "chef",I fart in your general direction....
Ok Boomer. Great that you got to go to college for $2000. Gen Xer here. I went to tech school. No debt. ANYWAY - I got a used copy of Radios Appear in PHX AZ in 82. Got to see them live in 2011? Still rocking, but the singer was all high pitch - weird.
the piano at "what gives" is so pippi langstrumpf and really funny. original true rock&roll power, superb musical craftmanship and real entertainment, so in & outta control. ron keeley is helluva cool drummer and this footage is quite much of a proof there has never been any better band..
I was only 2 and a bit years old when this happened- and I’m sure the Marryatville or for that matter any Adelaide clubs or pubs have had so much energy than this!
Magic. Hard and fast free expression with no desire to appease the commercial music industry. I reckon Rob Younger would have been worse for wear after that dive into the crowd towards the end. Never saw him get up and it quickly morphed into break time.
Every one of these guys individually could rip a stage to pieces and leave people unable to talk for possibly day's or week's which means I can't take the risk of going to a show like this LOSSING MY VOICE IS ONE OF MY END OF DAY'S FEARS .... I CAN'T RUN TO GOOD ANYMORE SO I NEED MY VOICE SO I GOT A GOOD HEAD START
Australia blew it's chance to recognise the greatness of RB in it's time. It stands as perennial stuff though. Too bad they weren't supported and made 8 albums.
Just thank God for the ABC, without them this musical genius would have been lost !
except that they recorded albums
@@sexobscura no the fact they had the foresight to film them.

Rob Younger's spine was never the same after this gig.

Screaming Tribesmen and Johnny Kannnis and the Hitmen
Great times
And to think we get the 50th anniversary tour this year. Spoiled. Radio Birdman Forever! ✌🏼❤️🤘🏼
As a bassist, I approve of the mixing of the sound on this amazing video 👍🏾
As a bassist, I appreciates the playing of this bassist in this amazing video

No Shizzz!!
The Aussie band that has adequate enormous influence on today's alternative rock and garage scene. Absolute history!
But they sound like mc5 and stooges so what are we thanking them for shouldn't we thank Detroit at least bands like Ramones changed it up
@@leahflower9924 If you think the two Birdman albumss are simply a copycat sound of those bands then you need your head checked.
This bass player is from another planet

Descent is my fave
The Edgar Allen Poe cstory had my imagination as a young man
How the ocean swallowed men
I have never heard a better version of Descent Into The Maelstorm than this one. Deniz Tek's solo is really enjoyable!!
Fucking brilliant , visceral music . I’d give my spleen to watch a band like this now .
Ohh man you won’t get it. If this sounds classic well the golden age was just that
6:05 The Wayne Kramer riff!
Haha yeah !
Punk rock birdman ❤❤❤
Criatividade. Vocês próprios.
É o que interesse. Super. Genial.
one of my all time favorite bands. amazing high powered rnr
Fabulous hoje amanhã ontem sempre é sério
Verdade.
The keyboard player is switched on and articulate.
medical doctor
@@christianryan1360 But not just any medical doctor, but the Director of Medicine at one of Sydney's most prestigious hospital. Just incredible.

Damn, they rip apart Descent into the Maelstorm! Absolutely AMAZING!
I was there that night @ the Marryatville, they were hardly known in Adelaide then : way ahead of the times
The Marryatville rocked, I lived across the road on Dudley st, and Martini's was best club in Adelaide
I was only 2 and a bit years old when this happened- and I’m sure the Marryatville or for that matter any Adelaide clubs or pubs have had so much energy than this!
Also, there's Australia's latest carriers-of-the-flame AMYL & THE SNIFFERS!
Tight, powerful live sound, sign of a great band.
God, this is special! As good as anything ever done!
What a band.
Early 80s ♥️ Ett!!🤘🥁😀🇦🇺😊
This is excellent,, So many memories,,, XO :-)
Phillip was our wonderful Doctor so caring Truly ??????
what a great document!!
Outstanding ‼️👍🎸🎼🔥😍
The original aus pressing of their first record is one of my prized possessions. Killer band
This band kicks ass !
Decent into the Maelstrom is ridiculously great
Great & Underrated!

This is killer. Thanks for posting it!
One of the great un-catched stage dives :)
Nobody was there to catch him. They all bailed out.
Maybe not enough warning he was going to jump?
And the very straight looking guy with the white shirt and the black tie just kept on clapping!
Cool! I saw them at Taylor Square pub a few months before this, then at Sydney Uni the following year. Great stuff!
Amazing audio and video quality! Perfect! Love the interviews/blurbs/diatribes from the band! 12/10
so good but aw man the slo mo stagedive at the end where nobody caught him goddam
Thought the guitar player was Ron asheton for a second
Never heard of the "WASP" brand of amps and cabinets. Always wondered about that.
Holden amplifiers. Originally made in Christchurch NZ then in Sydney. ACDC used them in the early days.
Just saw bird an at the manning bar Sydney still rockin best night took my two sons they loved it
Just adore them, and NEW CHRISTS, NEW RACE, THE VISITORS etc
Wait, have i just seen Rob Younger slow motion stage dive and just hit the floor?
Stage dives didn't really exist back then. Sure Iggy would do his thing but hmmmm I'm wondering if he was expecting to be caught? ✌🏽
aussie rock and roll at its absolute finest
Thanks Paul..seered
I see some sharpie dancing going on here, totally Oztastic!

Deniz Fuckin Tek
Joel Nelson
Joel Nelson back to. The 70,s bro
If members of the Stooges, MC5 and Dictators jammed together, they might sound like Radio Birdman. Or they would come close. Or not.
...And if you LUV this check out Deniz Tek's newest effort "Two To One" with James Williamson! (Yes, of the Stooges!)
now i know where ROSE TATTOO came from
hang on. so where did that proto crowd surf end? gentle fingers? so as not to let the frontman see his final curtain? (longtaiil) #
