As an American I know that Norway does some pretty unique things. Today I am very interested in learning about one of Norway's weirdest and awesome ski events. If you enjoyed the video feel free to leave a comment, like, or subscribe for more!
My daughter is in this video 😂
Yellow mask and cape, nr8 💛
She started doing this when she was only 10 years.❤
Yes, the speed is the ‘secret.’ That’s why so many kids doesn’t make it. They’re too light weight 😂
Everyone was winners 👍
You asked who won? Well, it doesn't matter, the most important thing is to participate, both as a performer and as an audience. The most importen ting is the fun ow it !
Jepp, - that we have fun, also the kids ... its typical us Norwegians 🏂⛷️🌊🙂
This is actually only 400m from where I live, and both my sons have taken part in this several times, I haven't dared. But of course been there to watch many, many times, and it's just as fun every time.
Yes. Here in Norway our children grow up outside. They start kindergarten before they're a year old and spend most days outdoors no matter rain or shine. And we allow our children to be children, to play, climb, ski, swim, run and tumble. You can't wrap you kid in bubblewrap, they learn from falling and getting back up. And btw do americans really think we are a very serious people? We are sooo not! We are so playful! But we have deep respect for one another and strict social decorum. 😄❤️🇧🇻
Americans be like "hope nobody got hurt"...
Norwegians be like "..."...
There was a similar event, many years ago, on Mount Baker in Washington State called the Slush Cup.
9:30 they start splashing and sinking because they don't have enough speed to get over
I think some of them are leaning too far backwards as well. It's like when you waterski, you really feel the resistance before you get up, but then it gets much easier. Keeping the skis as flat as possible seems to be key.
The trick is a combination of angle of your skis - the more plane they are to the water the less energy you lose to friction - and momentum. The heavier you are the more energy your momentum carries and the bigger your energy pool is so you can afford to lose more energy to friction without losing too much speed. Adults have a distinct advantage in the latter regard, which is a major reason why you see more kids lose a lot of speed near the end.
Once upon a time there was a show in Norway called Ta Sjansen...........😂
It’s not on the air anymore?
@@badcryptos2970 Last one was in 2002. It was officially cancelled in 2003 because Skiforeningen got hit with an unrelated loss of 6 million kr.
But still, he should really watch it! It says something about the Norwegian "fun" spirit, aaaand lets not forget "skadefryd". Its a Germanic word for a reason 🙈🤣
What looks like a parasail is a wingfoil sail for foil boards without an electric motor. Used to gain speed when you are wing foiling. You can even wing foil a SUP board.
Watch "Ta sjansen Holmenkollen" It was so much fun 🥳
Thanks again for yet another great reaction video from the humble town of Drammen. ❤ :)
10:17 it's nojt painful, because they have some kind of rubber underneath, its like when you're on a trampoline, you don't land painfully because the ground is very soft, its like having soft pillows underneath all the water. no one got hurt, they just laugh it off
You may want to check out raindeer racing. :)
It has a lot to do with speed, but it also has a lot to do with the angle of the skis vs the water. You have to be a little leaned back, but not too much.
Some of the most legendary snowboarders in the world are from Norway.
12:07 that is just a sweaty contester we call those in norway xD
Love it ❤ Norwegian likes to have fun 😂
I believe it's a case of not leaning too much back. then you start braking instead of moving full speed ahead.
We just took gold in EM 400m hurdles 🎉🇳🇴🇳🇴🎖️🥇number 3 hurrah
It's very cool that you've discovered Parminder's channel! He makes very good videos about various aspects of Norway. His thoroughness and editing is next level! Hopefully you'll react to more of his videos 👍
"Got hurt"? It's snow and water. :D The real danger is that it is in Drammen, what was it Herodes Falsk said? "Drammen is a hole in the asphalt"? :D For the Norwegians here...I'm kidding, Drammen have become a great city.
Don't beat me to death here, but... Isn't Drammen just a part of Oslo? Is it really a separate city?
@@palmarolavlklingholm9684 Drammen is it's own city. About 40 min souyh-west of Oslo.
It must be (lack of) speed ?
Laid-back which Norwegians are and serious are two completely different things…
And people are water skiing around the world, same thing...sort of. :)
0:24 My home town 😊
yo.. with ur kvikk lunnsj episode.. u didnt read the inside of the wrapper.. 5-6 months ago-.- missed alot of the nostalgia.. either a hike giude or a story..
Ooh My town Drammen
@Tyler! Check out Birk Ruud😎
Aaron's Trail is the name in english 😊
Also how can you train for this properly ?
Nike, just do it...
Why are People so mean🤔is life hard?
The face plant at the end worries me (against concrete...).
There is concrete? Looks like a dugout in compacted snow lined with a tarp to make it hold water.
@@jarls5890 You are probably right. I am reassured.
In under 5 minutes, Tyler goes off the rails yet again.
A random town in Florida? No. A random town in Colorado? Yes.
So, Tyler, how do you explain young American children riding bucking broncos & bulls?
The parents must be crazy 🤪
No one gives a fuck about your country. We're here for Norway, not a third world country pretending to be developed.
No, reaching for ear plugs....

- You must be a glutton for punishment...
You clearly hate what Tyler is saying and/or doing in his videos and yet you always keep on coming back over and over again.
I find that really puzzling. I mean, why waste your time watching someone you can't stand?
