I tried following the instructions for Minio 2.0.2, but the UI for selecting storage is different and I couldn't select a dataset on a different pool. Ended up installing 1.7.24 instead.
Can Minio be used to back up a remote S3 source? For example, I have some Amazon S3 buckets that I back up with a script for long-term archival storage. Would Minio be a better way to do this?
Hi, thanks for video. I wonder if they fixed second main problem /first being certificate not working/ - multiple users in MinIO. In previous Scale versions there was only ONE user so MinIO was practicly unusable with only root user. Is this fixed now ? You briefly mentioned user at the end of the video but didnt explain if its actualy fixed.
I still don't like the concept of an app running on a general purpose NAS... i prefer to keep that box outside virtualization and just run it on bare-metal (node-cluster+truenas+minIO), 3 BOXES comprising of the core infra. with minIO pushing the offsite copy to cloud. Can you tell me why virtualize minIO is better? Am I not seeing something??
Ahahaha... I just did this out of necessity on my TrueNAS Core yesterday! (And then I decided to move it to my Alpine Linux VM because the FreeBSD port of MinIO isn't officially supported, except maybe through IXsystems?)
I am noob so is there video possibility why S3 over NFS, I tried finding video, but no comparision. I think whatever we can do in NFS, we can do in S3 object. I would appreciate video on that. Thanks.
A video on setting up a cluster in minio would be awesome
Great video (as always). I could have used a quick summary diagram of how these services are connected either at the top or end of the video.
Can you do a video on certificates?
I was just in need of this video
Did you read my mind I was thinking about it yesterday? 😂
Every time I try to install the minio app it kills my networking? Do I have to setup a virtual IP for those apps installed in containers?

When i instal the minio, the application not start.
@tom appears that somethings broke with the new 2.0 minIO. selecting the older version 1.7.x works as shown

perfect timing

Running as an APP on the TrueNAS is for people that don't want to run it on a separate system which covers many home lab and smaller environments.
@@LAWRENCESYSTEMS thank you for clarifying!!

S3 and NFS are very different and generally not very interchangeable.
Is immutable working o this MINIO?
I did not test as I prefer ZFS snapshots for data immutability
@@LAWRENCESYSTEMSIs Minio S3 possible to set up with Veeam Backup for immutability?
@@MariousBH According to their documentation it is min.io/docs/minio/linux/integrations/using-minio-with-veeam.html
@@LAWRENCESYSTEMSThank you!
To me S3 is handicapped, as it doesn't get permissions [POSIX, UNIX]. Thus, it is useless to me and my potential uses, unfortunately.
You handle permissions within Minio
lol, aggravation switch
