My father was Coast Guard from just after WWII thru 1974. He was a corpsman and told me stories of weather patrols in the Pacific, being stationed on Kwajalein Atoll at a LORAN station, living in Rhodes, Greece while on the ship that broadcast the Voice of America into eastern Europe, working on the buoy tender during the atomic bomb tests (and everyone getting sick from the fallout, although they didn't know why at the time) and "fishing in each of the Seven Seas!" He's 92 and still going strong here in Central Florida. When the pandemic has passed and I get to see him again, I'll be sure to show him your video.
In case you aren't aware, we helped drydock Taney this past fall. We did a lot of videos on Taney while we were there. Here's one: th-cam.com/video/RTDAzBzMgds/w-d-xo.html
The segment on the 327 cutters was very informative. I would like to see a story about the development and use of the 44’ motor life boat here and other countries around the world.
