Since Rin can't control Three Tails, she can feel the power overflowing in her. She knew what was going on so that's why she went in front of Kakashi's Chidori to kill herself when he was going to attack the Mist Ninjas during their escape. Where did I get this info? Well Obito said it himself while he was talking with Kakashi during their battle. Obito is sure of it since he already the Sharingan at that point of time.
