Looks like fun, but Six Flags really needs to get a few dark rides into this park.
Not that its a dark ride but Gotham City Gauntlet was originally supposed to be a dark ride coaster all indoors with effects and such. They even built the structure and they somehow fumbled the permits and Massachusetts forced them to take it down and now its your standard outdoor mouse
Years ago when it was Riverside Park they had a great walk through haunted house. Unfortunately one year one of the guests lit a lighter inside and caught a drape on fire and it burned down causing several deaths. It was horrible.

I use to buy my season pass at Great Escape because the season pass was only $59. And got you into all the parks. It was a really good deal before Covid.
This is my original hometown park. I use to go all the time when I was young and it was called Riverside Park. Was glad Six Flags purchased it and made a lot of great changes. It’s a fun park but they need to extend it and put more rides.

Judging by Six Flags Darien Lake, which is "my" (sort of) local amusement Park, the Six Flags people do a good job on the upkeep on the interior of their parks. But they are shysters! How do they justify $20 to park in a lot that is not paved and full of potholes? (Note: that was the parking fee in 2019, last time I set foot on their grounds. Inflation has hit since then. Now, yeah, it's probably $40. For all the potholes your car can eat. And I didn't even mention all the other stuff they rape your wallet for. Like food.)
So I forewent Six Flags last time I got bitten by the amusement park bug and I went to Kennywood and Midway State Park last year. Worth the trips.

Hybrid coaster is actually the correct term for either a wooden coaster with steel supports or, as in this case, a steel coaster with wooden supports. I believe the one in this video is an RMC (Rocky Mountain Construction), a company mostly known for converting old wooden coasters that are at the end of their life to steel hybrid coasters.

I remember going there when it was still Riverside Park. When my dad was young, he used to work on an auto racing team that regularly raced on the tiny track that used to be in the park. Unfortunately, the race track is no longer there. I believe the Superman ride was built in its place.
When I was a teenager and twenty-something, back in the 80's and early 90's, me and my friends would go to this place every week during the summer. It's only a 45 minute drive from where I live. I live about fifteen minutes from Lake Compounce in Ct. This park was called Riverside Park back then and it was different. It was long before Six Flags swooped in and scooped it up. The place is still "Riverside Park" in my head and I still remember my way around it and where all the rides were. The park looks completely alien to me right now, and it's lost quite a bit of the charm it had when it was Riverside Park. There's very little I recognize. The Thunderbolt is still there, but a lot of the rides we used to enjoy are gone. One of our favorite rides was on the roof of the building right next to the entrance to the Thunderbolt entrance. It was a ride called "The Rotor". You would go into this cylindrical room, and you would all stand against the wall. the room would spin and you would stick to the wall, and then the floor would drop out from under you leaving you about 8 feet up above it stuck to the wall.
In my area , but this 6 Flags will always be Riverside to me .

Jacob, come to The Big E in West Springfield, MA. It's THE State Fair shared by all the New England states, most of which don't have their own. It runs from September 15 to October 1.
I was shocked when you mentioned that they charge for parking. When that place was Riverside Park, there was no charge for parking at all. You only had to pay the entrance fee. And Six Flags charging what you said, $40 for parking? That's just insane. When I was a teenager, we used to go to that park every week during the summer. We would NEVER have been able to afford $40 parking plus whatever entrance fee they would charge on top of it.
Those parks gotta realize that at a certain point people will just stop coming if they're priced out. (Though in this case it's almost definitely an effort to make people get the season pass system)

Oh so that is what happened to Riverside!!! We went there as s kid when I lived in CT in the 80s.
Thunderbolt is really the only remaining aspect from Riverside...unless you count Wicked Cyclone....which was originally Cyclone until 2015 whennit got the RMC conversion to Wicked Cyclone

I love all the Carousels 🎠
I grew up in Enfield CT, just a short 15 minute drive away on the other side of the Connecticut River. As such, I've been visiting Six Flags New England since the early 1970s, when it was Riverside Park. That carousel and the roller-coaster, The Thunderbolt predate me, and so I've been seeing them for more than 50 years.
I used to go there every weekend. We ran a stock car at the track on Saturday night. Early 90s

I did not go to the races at Riverside Speedway, though indeed I remembered them, but back in June of 1996 I did go to a concert at the race track. They had a few bands, and I recall two of them. One was DC TALK, and the other was AUDIO ADRENALINE.
Did you win any races, and did you travel to other racetracks?
Was in victory lane guite a few times. Ran Stafford and Tompson Speedway too.

The figures on the carousel were carved by Marcus Illions (not pronounced or spelled like the state of Illinois). Illions carved the figures but the W.F. Mangels company made the machine. They both had work shops at Coney Island and collaborated on many carousels. Mangels designed and patented the overhead crank system that makes the horses gallop; he also designed and manufactured the whip ride.
That was my childhood theme park RIVERSIDE!!!! Aka 6 Flags New England!!!❤❤❤
For Six Flags Great Adventure, my computer class went there in 10th grade (06/07), but, I didn't go. I didn't know my classmates that well and I was afraid they would drag me onto a ride that I don't like.

Local here. Thanks for showing this Jacob. Riverside Park was really ahead of it's time building the mind eraser which six flags kept (riddlers revenge). Six flags kept a lot of the themes around the park. When they built superman in 2001 it was the place to be. Then the batman ride. After that it really slowed, probably money issues.
I really enjoyed your pretend coaster ride. I imagined people walking by giving you "the eye". Maybe add in one of your maniacal cackles next time too. So good.

I've been on that Carousel many times along with the Thunder⚡Bolt.
The Houdini ride scared the LIFE out of me when I was like 12 lmao, neat concept for a ride. was here in '04 when the big new england blackout happened, was like 4 loads out from loading on the superman lmao.
I would love to have the maps from the parks I've been too..those would be fun to collect.

Riddler Revenge is much better than it was when it was Mind Eraser. Got new trains when they changed the name and theming. It doesnt bash your head in anymore cuz it has vest restraints now. Still a janky ridr but I dont mind riding it now. Id never ride it if it was still in its Mind Eraser form
They should do a walk-through dark ride called Wayne Manor and have it where the villains have taken it over you could have real people has jump scares .

If you are still in MA, there are 2 carousels in Boston proper. I think one of them is fully hand carved. You know if you find a carousel with a camel, you gotta ride it.
They probably overhaul the annual passes every time they figure out that this Jacob character is costing them money.

I spent a little longer with Jacob and my fellow CB fans today. Jacob, I'm always glad you're here but today and tomorrow are now/are going to be harsh. I have a baby parakeet who was bleeding from a wound on her back yesterday. Upon investigation, I found a big yellow tumor showing through her skin on her back. I'm not looking forward to what I'm going to have to ask the vet to do tomorrow. So spending extra time with you was a good form of escapism for a little while. I'm sitting here laughing and sniffling by turns. But I'm glad your vlogs are here. You have no idea how much they help people sometimes.
Call it what you will. It will always be Riverside, to us oldies. We remember the good old days. The racetrack - watching future NASCAR drivers.

There were more than one Brown Derby in the Hollywood area--it was a chain. And one of the buildings still exists, but, not surprisingly, repurposed and renovated beyond recognition.
I grew up in SE Massachusetts, and Riverside Park was a yearly event. It was about a 2 hour drive from where I lived.

Hybrid roller coaster are usually made by RMC rocky mountain construction. Great coaster company that's good at doing that, Transform old wooden coasters turn them into amazing Hybrid coasters

Jacob, if you're still in New England, you need to go to the carousel at Slater Park in Pawtucket, RI and the carousel in Riverside, RI. There's one in Fall River, MA you should visit, if it's open

Demonia or Tasmanian She-Devil is her name. She's Taz's wife and appears when he does, but she's the dominant and is seen hitting him a few times with her rolling pin. She appeared in "Devil May Hare" then "Bedeviled Rabbit". She also appears briefly in "In the Looney Tunes Back in Action" disguised as Mr Smith.

Jacob, have you tried dramamine to prevent motion sickness? They have normal and non-drowsy. It might help you ride those spinning rides without getting nauseous
I been to six flags new england ever since 2010 i haven't been able to go for 3 years bc of covid and next year I'll be going to six flags again and I'm excited
I went to this amusement park at least two times back when it was Riverside Park. I remember getting a tissue paper carnation during the last visit before it became Six Flags. I went after the Six Flags takeover at least twice in the early 2000's ... so it has to be about 20 years ago or so when I was last there. There were a lot of things I didn't recognize in the video. I loved going on both the Tomahawk and the Houdini seance ride, it's a bummer both of them weren't available to ride while you were there. The main shops are different now than they were about 20 years ago. I remember the Six Flags Emporium sold Beanie Babies back then, and I bought one from there. I also remember getting cinnamon-coated roasted almonds from a cart near the stairs (which, by the way, I remember humming the Rocky theme song while climbing up, and trying to hum that tune in reverse while heading down the stairs). The Looney Tunes area changed quite a bit, it wasn't that exciting-looking back then. I don't remember Batman having his own Gotham area; back then, it was mainly just DC-themed, and the Joker ride was an indoor Scrambler with projections and sounds, just like that other indoor Scrambler you were on. I went on Superman the Ride twice. My picture was taken both times. There was also a DC Superheroes stunt show, not sure if that's still there now. The roller coaster that goes backward after a loop reminds me of one that was at Six Flags Great Adventure (another theme park of my past, along with Rye Playland, and Quassy) called Lightning Loops, which I think is no longer there - that one had two loops, on right after the other. That dino ride is new, it looks to be a re-theming of old-timey vehicles.

That Wild Mousey type coaster, SFOT and SFFT (both Texas SF parks) have this. Both named Pandemonium. Previously called Tony Hawk's Big Spin.
