Very inspiring to hear Vinnie be sincere about his beginnings. It's easy to forget that most of our heroes started out as apprehensive kids. I'm a young guitarist myself and It's reassuring that Vinnie was also nervous going into music.
I watched one of his old lessons in VHS A LOT back in the early 2000's, I was always mesmerized by how incredibly precise his playing is, almost sounded like a keyboard. Fantastic interview, btw! Cheers from Brazil!
Vinnie moore was a huge influence on my guitar playing, Blackmore, Jimmy page, Yngwie malmsteen. Technically, And speed, Vinnie and Malmsteen were the tops.
Listened to "Time Odyssey" while driving today and man have those songs aged well! As Time Slips By actually made me emotional thinking back to the late 80's when it came out and I was in HS. So I get out of my car and when I get back in, the radio is tuned to the local classical station, and "Air On A G String" comes on and I enjoy a synchronicity moment. "Time Odyssey" is still just so good and nostalgic for me. Much love and respect, Maestro VM!
Vin mans music healed me in 1988 after falling on top of a elevator 25 plus feet. After almost 6 months of no healing this cassette (Odyssey) was given to me from a volunteer at the hospital I gave 20 bucks. The doctors said they believe it was the music. I believe it too because it was so uplifting and fluent. The music wove a paragon of excellence in my minds eye. I told Vinnie and he was happy to hear this. I been playing guitar since 1969. Love this album more than all his work but it is all very explorative in musical ways and top notch playing and musicianship. Just like his Live performance. Vinnies music saved my life man..
I want to preface this by saying that I'm a big fan of Vinnie and I respect him a lot. I'm not the typical keyboard warrior who criticizes everyone on TH-cam. However, I was quite disappointed to find out that even this great 80s virtuoso didn't mention Malmsteen among his favorite guitarists. I think it's clear to everyone that Vinnie Moore's first two albums were clearly inspired by Malmsteen's neoclassical virtuosity
Derry Grehan of the Canadian Rock Band Honeymoon Suite was the ‘actor’… they were already very big in Canada with a few big hits like I Got a New Girl Now and Feel it Again
Saw him play a couple of times with UFO totally ripped all night, awesome. Saw UFO with a few different guitar players post Schenker he was my favorite.
Man i just love Vinnie! Like a friend..he s so down to earth but still cool ..and about a playing ..what can you say ..he s just awesome! Amazing guitarist and big inspiration for me ! Marko ,Croatia
I used to play along with some tracks on the Time Odyssee record.. rather religiously haha.. great times.. Besides being an accomplished awesome guitar player, Vinnie Moore is a really nice guy 😀 I can see kindness in his eyes and I think he handled some clumsy interviewing (rather impertinent questions) really well. I think the job of an interviewer should be to make the guest feel comfortable and ready/willing to talk.. instead of this nervous inducing type of cross examination style, because - to me anyway - at times it was slightly uncomfortable to watch and listen to. Having said that, it was informative either way and at least the interviewer showed himself to be knowledgeable on dates/record names etc.
Excuse me Sir, yeah you doing the interview, I'm watching this interview to hear what Vinnie Moore has to say, not your opinion on anything at all, less of you talking and MORE of MOORE.....thank you
I grew up across the street from Vinnie. He was such a friendly and inviting individual and remains so today!

My favorite guitar player
I used to have a poster of Vinnie Moore that came inside of Guitar for the practicing musician

Loved the interview. Vinnie was one of my first major influences. Have never come close to playing like him though. 😆
Derry Grehan of the Canadian Rock Band Honeymoon Suite was the ‘actor’… they were already very big in Canada with a few big hits like I Got a New Girl Now and Feel it Again
I came here to post about that. Derry is a monster player in his own right.
@@lonelydwightfrye Not everyone is a HERO. No everyone is a GOAT. Not everyone is a MONSTER player, including Derry.
