Kyuss! You're entering into the realm of a desert rock (or it is called stoner rock also)! I don't know how progressive they are, but Kyuss is a iconic band from 90's. Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age played in the band, so you might check them also, they are also part stoner rock, but also alternative rock/metal. You can find so many wonderful artists connected to those bands, like Mark Lanegan, a great baritone singer, who also was in QOTSA and Screaming Trees (grunge) before his solo career. Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters also played in QOTSA. Joss Homme made a project with John Paul Jones from Led Zeppelin, called Them Crooked Vultures... Many people had this 'learning curve' who are now in their late 40's or 50's: they started from metal, then discovered grunge, and then progressive rock along with all kinds of alt rock bands... So it is a wonderful pallet of different bands you can explore, if you want to step into these waters...

I was so lucky that I got to see Kyuss live in Bergen in 2010. Hadn’t heard much of them and was completly blown away. One of the most groovy concerts I’ve attended. It’s still among my most cherished concerts to this date. Haven’t heard much on them the last years, so this was just a great reminder that I need to listen more to them🥳 thnx!

Thanks for picking my request first!!! I love Kyuss, this entire album is amazing, you won't be disappointed to hear the rest. They give me early Danzig vibes with their bluesy crooning.

Kyuss used to play shows in the desert with flood lights powered by generators and a bunch of kegs all around. It was awesome!
After I discovered them in the desert/stoner rock scene I found out about SLEEP and the side project OM. SLEEP recorded a song that’s over an hour long called “DOPESMOKER” on the same label the Beatles were on. Haha
So glad you did this reaction! One of my favorites by them. You also reacted to a ton of Mars Volta songs which is how I found you. They were the reason I started a career in music.
P.S. Kyuss makes great driving music. The guitarist Josh Homme made Queens of The Stone Age and their album “Songs For The Deaf” is my favorite driving song. I have a condition called “highway hypnosis”, so I get super sleepy without conversation or the right music.
Thanks for taking the time to do this reaction!!! Loving your music taste once again bro.

Ah a bit of desert rock! This album brilliantly produced by Chris Goss of Masters Of Reality fame. You should check out Masters of Reality, Ginger Baker was with them for a bit. The song "Doraldinas Prophecies" is superb.

MoR is in my opinion one of the most underrated band ever. I'ts a shame that they(or Goss) don't get more attention and appreciation for their solid albums. Goss has a great part in the development of Kyuss and their soundscape.

I like that "react to anything"-idea. As much as I like your dive into the realms of prog, a little change/diversity is always good to have :-)
Kyuss never fully registered with me, but are adored by many as that cult 'desert stoner rock'-act. Famously, of course, the more well-known Queens of the Stone Age developed out of this act...

I listened to some of this stuff in the 90'ies but ultimately found these bands too monotonous and droning for my taste. I know that 420 help the level of appreciation of desert/stoner rock a lot though.
