The Emancipation of Mimi was one hell of a comeback.

Ok! All the singles they dropped from that album was on point.

MiMi came back fierce! She had no time with these hoes. Slaying the radio with every single 💅
FUN FACT: WHEN MARIAH CAREY MADE THIS ALBUM SHE MADE THE BIGGEST MUSICAL COMEBACK IN HISTORY, EVERYONE HAD WRITTEN HER OUT BUT THIS ALBUM WAS FULL OF HUGE HITS.
Mariah's feminine energy and lyrics were so on point 2005/2006
That’s it Mariah is the epitome of divine femininity.
I always forget how many hits Jermaine Dupri has had throughout the decades. His work with Mariah is unmatched.

Mariah DID NOT let the girlies breathe during this era!! 👏👏
Alan Castro lol how she didnt?
She had the best selling album of the year and spawned the longest running #1 of the year AND of the 2000s with the song that followed this and then she won 3 Grammys out of 10 nominations amongst countless other awards

Now come on now 💅

(I don't know why the time wasn't included)
The fact that she was struggling with bipolar depression 5 years prior to the release of this but came back ultra STRONG with this insane club hit, "We Belong Together" & "Shake It Off" - goes to show no matter the storms & hurdles you must and will always persevere through the darkest times. And Mariah proved just that. Shutting up critics with her 2005 multi-platinum seller "Emancipation of Mimi" which featured this and the aforementioned award-winning hits. It was def talk of the decade regarding her mega comeback. Like she never left. Love this iconic queen
It was mega fckn huge comeback !!! This is queen Mariah!!

@@ladyindaroom if she had depression for 5 years doesnt that mean she wasnt succeeding for 5 years.
Emancipation of Mimi came out at the beginning of my freshman year of high school and was the first time I remember new music from Mariah. This album is still one of my favorites. I don't think kids these days realize the magnitude of her come back.
You forgot "Don't forget about us".
People just don't know how game changing the Emancipation of Mimi was!
This… I was in the Philippines. Her songs were all over the TV, the clubs… everywhere! The greatest comeback in all of history and not to mention, Wentworth! 😍

Better believe it
If you go back through her catalog it's this, Daydream, and Butterfly that are the most artistically consistent albums. Each of them tell stories and have little nuances to them that make them stand out from her other albums, which at times seem more commercial. The one-two-three punch of this song, We Belong Together, and then Shake It Off was the best album opener of her career in my opinion. Girl came to slay during this era and she more than proved that she was not a gimmick created by her ex husband and Columbia Records to piggyback on Whitney's success, but a true artist with her own style and sound. Her attitude is a little ridiculous but still funny, but her best music moments cannot be diminished. They are stellar and deserve recognition and respect among her peers.
I play those/these three as a single montage---it was a while before I even listened to the rest of the album.
Mariah is the complete package. There are some people too jealous of her and discrediting her talent when they can't even be compared to her legs. Hahaha!!!
@@fhm1330 preach it. Those legs better have been insured during the late 90s/early 2000s. Her and Tina have more famous legs than have the celebrities out there.

She could've easily given up after having two consecutive "flop" albums, yet in this video she looks better than ever, like she never even missed a beat. THIS is how you make a comeback.
***** Exactly! Take a look at EVERYONE popular in music (Taylor Swift included) none of them have diamond albums. Adele does, but she hasn't made anything since. No one else that is so popular with millions and millions of follows on social media and billion views on TH-cam video sell like Mariah did (+ the other greats.. Celine, Whitney, etc.)
***** lol thats why i put the word 'flop' in quotes because not everyone considers it to be a flop.
I don't consider "Glitter" and "Charmbracelet" to be flops.
Glitter peaked at #7 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and produced the hit "Loverboy" witch peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100,
Charmbracelet peaked at #3, also, "Through The Rain" peaked at #5 in the UK and was a top 20 hit in the U.S.

After all these years, I just now realized that's Wentworth Miller in this video and the guy she runs away with in We Belong Together.
It's a two part video with We Belong Together.. Queen really planned her comeback.
@hytt x Lol, I just realized that's Eric Roberts. 😂
@@edwardashleysolares1701 I figured that much. I just never put two and two together until a few months along. 😂

"She really blew people away." - a quote from a TV special regarding Mariah Carey's re-emergence during TEOM era.
And I have to tell you she really did. The first Mariah Carey album that I ever bought was the Rainbow album when I was seven. I remember the Glitter era, and I bought the Charmbracelet album, so I was already a fan of hers.
But I remember one day in early 2005, my mom and I had just got in the car and were going down our street when "It's Like That" came on the radio. We literally said, "This is Mariah Carey?!" We were literally blown away. Soon after this I became a lamb.
I think The Emancipation of Mimi era is the strongest era for a female music artist ever. There was something so innately present and effortless about it. It wasn't based off any gimmicks--fancy dance moves, music trends, overt sex appeal, etc.--but grounded in Mariah Carey's undeniable and divine talents of singing and songwriting, her persona and artistry. It was visionary.
You are so spot on!
Aaron Thompson Well it is looking to be one! I'm beyond excited that she will be releasing an updated version of her #1s album, which is also set to have new music on it!
Hopefully, this new music will be natural, organic, and full of substance and she may go #1! :-*
Matthew Boyd Yes, I really do hope this is a new chapter for her like she said on Ellen.
I'm rooting for her Vegas residency to do really well too.
People need to realise that Mariah is a supreme vocalist.
It doesn't surprise me though, most music topping the charts nowadays sucks soo much.
Aaron Thompson Well, with news reports coming out now that divorce papers were officially filed last month, it really is a new chapter for her and a clean break. Although I know she is heartbroken, as her parents also divorced when she was three, and it does sadden me greatly, divorcing Nick Cannon is truly the best thing she can do at this point in her life, personally and commercially imo.
And judging by her appearance on Ellen, she seems to be in the best spirits she has been in, in a while. Mariah will come out stronger than ever. Mariah Carey is a survivor, in the words of Barbara Walters.
And I love her endlessly for it. #L4L
Aaron Thompson I also believe that signing to Epic like it has been rumoured will help her to get #1s as they hopefully will pick better singles than Island (e=mc2 would have had way more hits if they had picked the right singles and released them in the correct order)...

Children bashing MC singing live on stage, but their favorites could never have the vocal capability of this woman gracing the stage. AFTER 20+ years of performing LIVE. Don't judge people, pay resects, while this legend is still living. Do you see Mariah dancing around on stage with an act? Or in any ridic outfit to keep the audience entertained? Maravilhosa é pouco.
I lived this era close by. I am Brazlian and was in my au pair year in 2005 in the US. I went to the good morning america album release show case in NYC and omg Ill never forget it and later on I went to the recording of DIVAS lives of that year. I had never thought in my life Id see Mariah CArey. this album is so special to me. In times square, after the show, I kept waiting to see if Id see her but only saw Trey Lorenz, who was very nice and let me take a pic with her ( a very bad one by the way, cameras were terrible back then). One of her bodyguards, the one I recognized from the photos and videos, was walking by and I tried to ask about her and omg he was sooooo rude, he was like " I am on my break" and left his hand kinda like stop right there. it broke my heart, I started crying, I was too emotional. After I went to a CD store and bought the album, the seller was so nice, he was like " I can see you are a huge fan" and mine again was playing in the background, oh what a day, what a day. She distributed some posters and the candy hot tamale.she used to say hot tamale a lot when this song came out. I think I still have the poster somewhere. memories, memories.
If there's a Mariah Carey's single that really deserved the #1 spot and a big streaming radio success it's this one.

A New Year Anthem i did not expect ❣️🎶
Years go by and STILL I can't understand why this song never became a # 1 on Billboard🤷🏾♂️
Because the dam music industry is bias asf, look eat they doing to Nicki, and we all see she working hard, but when people don't like you they just don't like you
The song that started a big big super big comeback from Mariah, when all the critics and haters already count her out, she came back swinging, and slayed every one, it's as if she says, the Number 1 hitmaker is still here, hold my tea and i will rule the whole 2005!!!
This is why she's a LEGEND
