Confessions on a Dance floor by Madonna, The Emancipation of Mimi by Mariah Carey and Blackout by Britney Spears are the BEST comebacks in pop history of the 2000s in my opinion.
The fact that she was struggling with bipolar depression 5 years prior to the release of this but came back ultra STRONG with this insane club hit, "We Belong Together" & "Shake It Off" - goes to show no matter the storms & hurdles you must and will always persevere through the darkest times. Madonnas 2013 mdna tour was one of the highest grossing ever, madame x was number 1 and her bitch im madonna music video garnered hundreds of million views and she had a superbowl. Kylie isnt popular in the US but she is still having major success in the UK and europe. The other ones would be rock and metal acts such as metallica or nightwish.
@@survivorbest4589 like it matters…she’s a legend and anyone that’s even a good vocal artist(today) and entertainer music artists contributes to her. Only a kid would say she’s irrelevant. She’s a legend singer and song writer… and had her own imprint in music history….so go listen to people who can’t sing or mimic Mariah. 😂🤣
She could've easily given up after having two consecutive "flop" albums, yet in this video she looks better than ever, like she never even missed a beat. THIS is how you make a comeback.
***** Exactly! Take a look at EVERYONE popular in music (Taylor Swift included) none of them have diamond albums. Adele does, but she hasn't made anything since. No one else that is so popular with millions and millions of follows on social media and billion views on TH-cam video sell like Mariah did (+ the other greats.. Celine, Whitney, etc.)
I don't consider "Glitter" and "Charmbracelet" to be flops. Glitter peaked at #7 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and produced the hit "Loverboy" witch peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, Charmbracelet peaked at #3, also, "Through The Rain" peaked at #5 in the UK and was a top 20 hit in the U.S.
This… I was in the Philippines. Her songs were all over the TV, the clubs… everywhere! The greatest comeback in all of history and not to mention, Wentworth! 😍
Man, I remember dancing to this song in the clubs and the extended long version, such a fun song, great party dancing song, her music 🎶 gives me such great memories and feelings of happiness, life was so great back then with this kind of great music that Ms Mariah carey ❤️ gives us, love this woman, she's a queen 👸 ❤️
🤍🕊️RIP, Fatman Scoop! Thank you for hyping up the audience at events, concerts, clubs, parties! Your chorus will brighten and lift us for future celebrations and gatherings to come🕊️🤍 (Reminiscing this special occasion).
Such a solid album. I thoroughly enjoyed The Emancipation of Mimi. In fact, I remember buying the little import version in the digipak from Tower Records a week before it came out as a US release. That little $25 was well spent. This song was nice. Not too much. My favorites were I Wish You Knew, Circles and Your Girl. She pretty much used up the last of her voice on this album.
After reading her new memoir I realised this song is about the night she went to a party without tommy and met the mysterious Derek.... the sequel “we belong together” is about her leaving tommy for Derek and wishing they had worked out. That’s why she wears the ankle bracelet he gave her in “we belong together video”
If you go back through her catalog it's this, Daydream, and Butterfly that are the most artistically consistent albums. Each of them tell stories and have little nuances to them that make them stand out from her other albums, which at times seem more commercial. The one-two-three punch of this song, We Belong Together, and then Shake It Off was the best album opener of her career in my opinion. Girl came to slay during this era and she more than proved that she was not a gimmick created by her ex husband and Columbia Records to piggyback on Whitney's success, but a true artist with her own style and sound. Her attitude is a little ridiculous but still funny, but her best music moments cannot be diminished. They are stellar and deserve recognition and respect among her peers.
Mariah is the complete package. There are some people too jealous of her and discrediting her talent when they can't even be compared to her legs. Hahaha!!!
@@fhm1330 preach it. Those legs better have been insured during the late 90s/early 2000s. Her and Tina have more famous legs than have the celebrities out there.
I have thinking about this for sometime, and I here's what I have to say. The Emancipation of Mimi is a fantastic album, probably one of the best albums released in the 2000's. The album could've spawned 3 or more #1's if Mariah's label just released the right singles at the right time. This should have been the proper order of release 1. It's Like That - great lead single. It should've peaked in the top 10 at least. 2. We Belong Together - hailed as Song of the Decade. A great follow up, I love that the music video of her first two singles are connected to each other 3. Shake It Off - If it was released in a later date, it should reach #1. We Belong Together was too popular back then 4. Don't Forget About Us - another classic!! I love this song. 5. One and Only - this should've been released next. It has a catchy hook, and a unique sound. Very organic and original. Just imagine if Mariah made a video of this song. It would slaaaaay. 6. So Lonely (One and Only Pt. II) - A great follow up. My favorite track off the album. Just like her first two singles, Mariah's label should've made another story based on these two singles. 7. Stay the Night - WHY WASN'T THIS RELEASED???? Everything about this song is fantastic!
The first album that I bought!!! I was so closeted back then and was so shy when I bought it from the store. I even made up a story that it was for my sister even if the lady in the counter didn't ask. 🤣🤣🤣 But I was so happy though when I get to play it in my portable device. 😊 Love you Mariah!!!
I have a closeted Mariah story. Story time.. when I was a young closeted gay boy in High School, we were learning to use Power Point in computer class and we were told to make a Power Point presentation about any famous person we wanted. I chose Mariah Carey and I spent a lot of time researching her works and achievements to make my presentation. When my class mates asked me who I was making my presentation about I told them Mariah Carey and I remember I always got so mad at their reactions. All my classmates were like, "OMG SHE'S SO HOT!! 😍" And just going on and on about how hot and beautiful they think she was and talking about her looks and i was caught so off guard. I always new Mariah was beautiful, but I never thought about her in that way. Her talent was always first and foremost why I loved her so I was low key disappointed that all my classmates could talk about was how "hot" she was. 😡 I was like, she's talented, damn it!! Yall better recognize!! 😂 That's it, that's my story. I think this was one of the moments in my life that profoundly highlighted the rifts and differences between me being a gay boy living among straight friends lol.
"She really blew people away." - a quote from a TV special regarding Mariah Carey's re-emergence during TEOM era. And I have to tell you she really did. The first Mariah Carey album that I ever bought was the Rainbow album when I was seven. I remember the Glitter era, and I bought the Charmbracelet album, so I was already a fan of hers. But I remember one day in early 2005, my mom and I had just got in the car and were going down our street when "It's Like That" came on the radio. We literally said, "This is Mariah Carey?!" We were literally blown away. Soon after this I became a lamb. I think The Emancipation of Mimi era is the strongest era for a female music artist ever. There was something so innately present and effortless about it. It wasn't based off any gimmicks--fancy dance moves, music trends, overt sex appeal, etc.--but grounded in Mariah Carey's undeniable and divine talents of singing and songwriting, her persona and artistry. It was visionary.
Aaron Thompson Well it is looking to be one! I'm beyond excited that she will be releasing an updated version of her #1s album, which is also set to have new music on it! Hopefully, this new music will be natural, organic, and full of substance and she may go #1! :-*
Matthew Boyd Yes, I really do hope this is a new chapter for her like she said on Ellen. I'm rooting for her Vegas residency to do really well too. People need to realise that Mariah is a supreme vocalist. It doesn't surprise me though, most music topping the charts nowadays sucks soo much.
Aaron Thompson Well, with news reports coming out now that divorce papers were officially filed last month, it really is a new chapter for her and a clean break. Although I know she is heartbroken, as her parents also divorced when she was three, and it does sadden me greatly, divorcing Nick Cannon is truly the best thing she can do at this point in her life, personally and commercially imo. And judging by her appearance on Ellen, she seems to be in the best spirits she has been in, in a while. Mariah will come out stronger than ever. Mariah Carey is a survivor, in the words of Barbara Walters. And I love her endlessly for it. #L4L
Aaron Thompson I also believe that signing to Epic like it has been rumoured will help her to get #1s as they hopefully will pick better singles than Island (e=mc2 would have had way more hits if they had picked the right singles and released them in the correct order)...
I always forget how many hits Jermaine Dupri has had throughout the decades. His work with Mariah is unmatched.

No one in the history of the comeback will have like her. She is popular for over 3 decades and she is more relevant than ever before
The greatest
Shes not even near being as revelant as she was in the 90s. Yea she has a famous xmas song but in 2022 shes not relevant outside that one xmas song.

And what a comeback this was in 2005🔥
I've grown to really appreciate Mariah more and more over the years. There's so much to admire about her.
***** lol thats why i put the word 'flop' in quotes because not everyone considers it to be a flop.
I don't consider "Glitter" and "Charmbracelet" to be flops.
Glitter peaked at #7 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and produced the hit "Loverboy" witch peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100,
Charmbracelet peaked at #3, also, "Through The Rain" peaked at #5 in the UK and was a top 20 hit in the U.S.

I dont think I fully appreciated how damn good Mariah looked in this video. Hair, face and body!
This was bomb. When she came out with this i was like Mariah has arrived. That hair dress and wind got me wanting to stand in front my fan.
This… I was in the Philippines. Her songs were all over the TV, the clubs… everywhere! The greatest comeback in all of history and not to mention, Wentworth! 😍
Essa música marcou o início da minha adolescência lá em 2009. Todas as festas que eu ia do pessoal da escola sempre tocava essa música.

Your right
I listened to this album to DEATH. Straight bangers all the way through.
Rest well peacefully, Fatman Scoop! He will always be deeply missed and never forgotten! 😢😢😢😢

I play those/these three as a single montage---it was a while before I even listened to the rest of the album.

This should have been the proper order of release
1. It's Like That - great lead single. It should've peaked in the top 10 at least.
2. We Belong Together - hailed as Song of the Decade. A great follow up, I love that the music video of her first two singles are connected to each other
3. Shake It Off - If it was released in a later date, it should reach #1. We Belong Together was too popular back then
RIP Fatman Scoop 1968-2024

I NEED MORE SONG LIKE THIS, MC! PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE........
You shouldn’t have felt embarrassed for loving a talented and blessed artist I have a couple of her albums myself😊
Omg😂😂😂❤
Good buy!
This is so cute
RIP Fatman Scoop The Legend!!!! 💚
this should be everybody's birthday entrance song!!!!!! loll

She did not come to play games when it came to filming this video. Go head mimi! 👌❤

You are so spot on!
Rip Fatman Scoop!! You gave us the hits!!
Mariah represents her heritage to the fullest. Soulful with a pop sound.
Most of Mariah’s songs from 05 hit hard always brings back memories from that year especially that summer. Life seemed so organic back then
2005 and 2006 good old day's!!! The early and mid 2000s were like the 1990s part 2!!!
I would play this CD every night On my way to work a job I hated! Thanks MiMi it helped 😂
