These old car commercials just give me goosebumps and nostalgia from all the
    memories they bring back.

What I loved so much about that ad campaign was, while they DID show new Buicks going down "The Great American Road", Buick/GM NEVER tried to bullshit us into believing that a Century, Electra, Regal, or LeSabre was anything more than a luxurious cruiser/road car by showing it trying to thread curves at over 100 MPH on a racetrack. No, a nice relaxing cruise down a country back road or main street will do quite nicely, thank you very much.

This is one of the coolest jingles in all of commercials, along with the Regal version. I would get really excited as a little kid whenever these would come on. I remember the Regal commercial the best.

GM had some gorgeous cars back then, especially the Park Avenue, Delta 88, Ninety Eight Regency, and the Cadillac DeVille/Seville/Eldorado. Even the smaller Buick Skylark/Somerset, Olds Calais, and Pontiac Grand Am had nice lines. I miss those car styles.

    I'm from Vietnam.
And Buick cars in my country are very rare. Sometimes I see 1-2 Buick's 80's on the road and I get attracted to my eyes because they are so beautiful and luxurious. Thanks to America for making really meaningful cars. Actually, I really still love the '80s (although I was born in 94), which was called the glory of the American auto industry.
Btw... Now Chevy has "disappeared" from my country too :) (Sorry for my bad English)

such ringing words, and belted with such conviction. I was a teenager then and loved this song, thinking of it as a real and moving piece of Americana. My grandfather, at the time, owned a then 20 year old Buick.(67 Skylark Station Wagon) We -- our family-- had traveled across the country in it.

I was going through my grandparents things and they had a Buick Demo Cassette from 1988 that had this on it. I put it in the glove box of my 2004 Buick Park Avenue Ultra. It was a Dealer Promo Tape that they got when they puurched their red 1988 Buick Electra Park Avenue New and they kept the cassette.

Back when there were still a few cars that didn't all look alike. Look at what we have now. Take your choice of a sedan that looks like every other one, or an SUV that does the same. These cars had character. And they were built better than what we get now. I'm driving a 26 year old Roadmaster that everything on it still works. How many of today's cars will accomplish that at 26?

Someone smashed into my beautiful 1999 LeSabre. I bought a "new" 2001 LeSabre before a week was up. That's how much I liked that car. And it was just a car my mother gave me instead of it going to the junk yard. Fixed it up a little and was going to keep it the rest of my life! (I'm 38.) I still am iffy on an eighth generation, because I think that the seventh generation cars were the best looking Buicks since 1970. (7th- '92-99; 8th- '00-05.) When my '99 was totaled I had only a scratch on one finger, a scratch on my forehead and a broken watch clasp (since repaired!). Airbags and modern safety features are wonderful.

I'm not sure whether you saw an old person at the wheel of a GSX back in the 70s or a GNX back in the 80s. It's pitiful for me that nowadays the Buick core range is made up of SUVs and the company builds its cars in China rather than the USA. I have a feeling America wants its automotive industry back. Come on, GM! Please make it happen!

      "It's the statement you make
      As you travel through life
      Distinctive, decidedly you
The Great American Road belongs to Buick
It's the fast lane of life
      The road to the top
      The road that Buick commands
The Great American Road belongs to Buick
      Substantial and sure
      With power and grace
A spirit as free as your own
      The freedom to climb
Just as high as you choose
On the road that was made just for you
      The Great American Road...
The Great American Road belongs to Buick"
