    D-1,2,3,N.A.I.A.,J.U.C.O. the players play as hard as they can,work as hard, max effort, desire is the same.Highs of winning the same,lows of defeat the same. No matter what level,game matters the same amount.I played and coached on the J.U.C.O, N.A.I.A, and D-2 and D-3 level.lacrosse and basketball. level never mattered. Money spent, time demanded, are the major difference.I have been to many D-3 football games in Jersey at Rowan U. Enjoyed them lots.Been to Cortland Ithaca game, huge game 10,000 plus fans. Intense,yet not hostile. NOTHING bad about D-3 Football at all. Nothing !

    I played in what is now known as the WIAC and can assure you that players on each team were at a minimum all-conference in high school, many all region, and some all-state. Essentially, they might be a couple inches shorter and/or 10 to 20lbs lighter than their D1 counterparts. Some were late bloomers, some underrecruited, and some were just not quick, fast, or strong enough to play D1.

    Hey, nice video. I take it you are a Bears/Chicago fan. I played at North Central College in 89/90, when the Cardinals were a doormat in the CCIW, nothing like the success they are enjoying now. I was a 5'7" 170lb DB myself. I actually care more about the North Central game as any other college game on a weekly basis, I used to be a part of the Quarterback Club and sat in the tent, but now that I live out of state I watch every week on streaming, part of that is that NCC is a regular D3 playoff team.

    consider transitioning into club rugby after college football. Most large cities have at least one rugby team that's full of other adults looking for a contact sport outlet. All of your work ethic will transfer perfectly. You just need to learn a different set of rules.

    My son was a D3 football player, and I teach at a D2 college. The thing I could see is that everyone on the D3 teams were there because they wanted to be there. No one hanging on just to keep their scholarships. The enthusiasm at the D3 level is the most fun part. They love the game. Go find the video of my son’s team after winning the conference championship.

    The conference he plays in, is commonly called the SEC of D3.. and it's true. I used to cover UW-Whitewater and UW-Platteville when I worked in that state. They are solid, and yes, the guys play hard and love the game as much as anyone. I might even say that many D3 programs are better than a lot of D2 schools.

  • @erics607

    The D3 guys that get drafted, they usually end up at the D3 level for a couple of reason's. Football may have not been their sole focus in high school, and thus they haven't reached their potential yet, and D1 colleges don't scout smaller high school players as much when they aren't playing up to the potential of a low caliber D1 athlete. Another reason for a player like Ryan Ramczyk initially, was he didn't want to be far away from home, and he didn't want to live the D1 lifestyle coming out of high school. The stress and expectations generally aren't as high at the D3 level compared to the D1 level. I know a few guys that play D1 and how the prepare throughout the year is almost like a job. I also see a lot of D3 players (UW-Whitewater), and the whole atmosphere of how they prepare feels more laid back than at the D1 level. I feel like the guys that get drafted from the D3 level don't truly realize their potential until their 3rd year at the college level.

    • @erics607
      @erics607 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That is definitely a yes. UW-Whitewater which is one of the better D3 teams has a lot of DE's for example that weigh 225 - 255 pounds. The guys that would play DT's for them weigh between 260 - 290 pounds which would be the size of a DE and the D1 level. They would get smoked if they played up to the D1 level.

    Your conference is the best,and 4 schools have stadiums with 10,000 and over capacity. Huge facility' I have been to Cortland games,they are 6500 their #1 rival,the best in D-3 and D-2. Itaca seats 5500. When they play each other,13,000 plus are there. They have played in Yankee Stadium,22,606.There was a rumor two yearts aho in the media covering small college sports that the W.I.A.C. was going to move to D-2,was that holding any truth?

    • @erics607
      @erics607 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If they do move to D2, then most of the conference is going to struggle heavily. UW-Whitewater has played D2 schools over the course of the past 10 years and have beaten them or come close to beating them, but IMO only 2-3 of the WIAC teams can hold up to D2 schools right now.

    listen DIII guy here i’m old now but it’s simple all of us who played know the size in athlete is significantly noticeable and it’s cause D1 has all the bells and whistles, nutrition staff/weight room/s&c coaches and just the athletes in general. You’ll see a lot more 5’7-5’10 guys in DIII than you will in D1. Doesn’t mean the players aren’t good just don’t have the measurables to play at the D1 level, we’re not all born equal when it to comes sports and most of us knew this in HS

      UW-Whitewater, UW-LaCrosse, and UW-Platteville are essentially D2 schools depending on the sport. If 1 or multiple teams left to become D2 schools, the whole conference would probably collapse, and realignment would need to occur. There is only one D1 school in Wisconsin that has football, so if a kid doesn't receive a scholarship from there they go and play in the Dakota's, Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa, or at the D3 level.
