Foundation is a grid-less, sprawling medieval city building simulation with a heavy focus on organic development, monument construction and resource management.

This is probably true. If i ever get over my current lazynes and continue the game i'm working on.. and should i ever finish, the first thing i'd do for quality-assurance is send free keys to guys like Josh. Normally you have to pay for people to bugtest your software. Which is a tedious and mostly unfun thing to do.
Here you get it for free, nicely wrapped up in a comedy-like presentation of a bugreport. It's also free advertisement.. even tho this can be a good or bad thing due to his ways.

Totally! I think this is an approach that should be used in other fields as well. A product that works while it's abused is better in every single way from a product that's only used the way it's intended to be. Testers like Josh and other destructive youtube gamers are capable of finding flaws the people who designed the game would never find.
But isnt that the whole point of alpha/beta keys? You give keys to people to test your game and find everything wrong with it while also getting feedback and criticism
