You know, while I usually get vibes of Villain Protagonist from Gordon, for the most part I think of Adrian as a Heroic Protagonist. He´s definitely saner than Gordon and is not quite as psychotic. I´m not saying one is better than the other, I´m merely comparing their alignment.
Yeah i'm pretty sure in the "Mind universe" the rolls are essentially reversed. Adrians more heroic and well adjusted to his situation and Freeman is selfish and at times almost outright psychotic.
the GEARBOX button is red and the Valve button is blue. so if I choose GEARBOX the game ends and I can go outside, make friends and get a girlfriend I choose VALVE and I sit on my couch where I die waiting for HL3.
"I should have gone to Afghanistan!" Best. Line. Ever. It truly encompasses how one should feel when faced with an alien invasion. By the by, loved you in Barney's Mind, dude. Fantastic. The only disappointment in that series was the abbreviated length. Let us hope that Shephard's Mind lasts much, much longer, because people need to be exposed to this kind of awesomeness more often of late....and because I will miss it terribly when it's over....

@PowerfullPC No. Its in the 90's. It says so in the gamesmaster mag. In one issue, it has a half life and portal time line and it says that the black mesa incedent is in the 90's
The echo's not for him thinking, it's for being in the vent. And you have to mess around with audacity's echo effect. Try setting the Delay time to 0.05 and setting the Decay Factor to 0.4
When the Opposing Force 2 mod comes out (an independent thing), he's probably gonna do a second season for Shephard. VALVe isn't going to do anything Shephard-related for a while with HL:2E3 and Portal 2 and L4D DLC and all that jazz on their proverbial plate, but the mod looks awesome.
Correction: the game was released in 1998. The setting is a brand new term called "present day", which is subject to whatever year you happen to be playing.
Well, Blast Pit was the original idea, and the Pit Worm was an attempt at another puzzle boss. It might not have been as 'good', but it's still a very clever thing.
I like how you added story element stuff. Like figuring out that the GMan was some kind of spy, and that stuff about the Black Ops. Serious scenes like that really pull through for this series. Keep up the good work! This is friggin' awesome!
3:49 "Hey, next eye! Bet you got a real good looking at me shooting you!" - Shephard "Yeah that fancy scope of yours, bet you got a real good view of me killing ya!" - Scout Love the references! :D
Yeah, I figure Shephard has been running on mostly adrenaline this whole time. He went in expecting a fight, and even though it turned out to be aliens, he's still pretty determined to kick some ass, so it's not a huge change for him. It'll eventually settle in that he's being attacked by beings from another dimension, and he'll lose his last vestiges of rage-fueled courage, resulting in his going totally batshit and start chewing on the walls or something.
It's actually both. Shephard is the only protagonist in any Half-life game that wears a mask AND Opposing Force has no console code that removes the HUD, unlike the other games.
I love the audio. You're easily as much fun as the other "Mind" video makers, and you're all my heroes. Some of us need all the help we can get to stay in a happy place. I'm sure you've done all you can about the lighting in the video. I'm sure you know the video is often so dark that we can't see what Adrian sees. I don' t think it's my monitor, as only Half-Life "Mind" videos are ever too dark. It's sad, because the rest is so, so good. Thanks for all your work.
It takes place somewhere between 2000 and 2010. So it could be in '08 or '09. Also, this series (along with most of the game) isn't part of the HL canon so that doesn't really matter anyway.
Okay one It's not certain when the games take place, officially it's 199X but it could just as easily be present day Two The expansions are semi-canon according to word of God. Yes "semi-canon" Now shut up and laugh
I think the reason why the laser didn't hurt alot was because it caused nigh instant 3rd degree burns thus burning the nerves so it's possible that you lost most of them a while before he even woke up he was also probably under some drugs I mean he was a in a "serious accident"
I guess either one of the aliens bumped into it or G-man is having Shephard on yet again. I had to give Adrian a good Star Wars Trash Compactor scene though, so I pressed the button myself and noclipped back into the room.
IRobot quote! "Whatever happened to the good old days when it was only humans killing other humans?" Haha the very very end was funny too and Star Wars "I've got a bad feeling about this" & Trash compactor room
His episoad has a couple easter eggs: (on the control panel for the toxic fluid) gear box and valve (on the switch in the room with the giant centaped) steam.
@GothicSatnist666 Consider the game. In the tutorial, it's implied that Adrian's military training is as a sniper, given that you're shown how to shoot a pistol and use a bolt-action. Given that, and what happened earlier on, it's understandable that he'd prefer something a little less jumpy than the MP-5.
I think "temee" is also appropriate in this situation. As is "kisama" and "shimeruzo" and "keri tobashite yaru, kono doaho." ...all in a Yakuza accent. Nihongo banzai!

4:56 Valve and Gearbox...Amazing... To be honest though, that has got to be one of the best and most cleverly placed easter eggs (for lack of better terms) I've ever seen.
Yeah, I'll try and extend it a little where I can. The behind the scenes areas feel longer than the testing areas, though. I'm shooting for about 15, but I'd be ecstatic with 20.
Great to see I'm not the only teenager with a brain cell or two. I respect you at the highest point that I can possibly award you. I wish I could get a chance to make him embarrassed too, but he took down the comment.

The term you're searching for is "anti-hero".
A Movie Character Gordon’s no anti hero. If he had the chance, he would definitely be in breen’s position.
Freeman, Barney, Adrian
in all the mind episodes they all said "Why does everyone die but me"

gearbox valve and steam
nice one gearbox
Steam didn't exist by then, maybe Valve took the idea from this.

Nathaniel Rincon if you choose gearbox you’re forced to play aliens colonial marines and duke nukem forever.
That was a really trippy move in the trash compacter room... You tricky noclipper.

He probably played a DnD videogame
4:55 Gearbox and Valve were the companies that made Opposing Force. Can't believe I never noticed that!

Of course!

It's a well known fact that Japan has these types of things happen ever other week. U know with the horrible monster insects.
I like how Shephard is the only one who has been able to assimilate aliens.
I would say that it doesn't hurt as much because it is a laser and therefore is made mostly out of LIGHT.
