I know what you mean re the attic being so hot, both my boy's rooms are in our attic and in the summer its roasting. In the Netherlands its pretty common to have your attic converted but when I lived in the UK it was considered posh 🤣🤣 I'm from Manchester and I think a lot of the terrace houses like your period have the stair to the basement where your upstairs are.
