How is it fair to Jurors and witnesses?
In my personal opinion, it's plain and simple: what the judge said to Donald Trump only shows cowardice. The judge is _AFRAID_ of the former president. That is my take away on the matter.

He doesn’t want to deflect from the substantive content of the trial. Also would that mean Trump wouldn’t have to sit through his trial, which currently is not a good look? If you ask Trump supporters about all those things, they sincerely for the most part have never heard of them. They really DO NOT know. Donald Trump's biggest thing when he ran in 2016 was to convince as many people as he could not to watch legitimate news sources, and in large part with his base he has been successful. He "herded" them like sheep over to watch only the sources he approved. Which are all sources that will never report truthfully about him. So really even to this day, the average Trump supporter, literally has NO IDEA about 80 to 90 percent of what the rest of us know about him. And that's the truth. If you don't believe me ask one of them if you know any, what he is on trial for, how many cases etc. I promise you they won't know. Because the sources they watch do not cover it, or else spin the facts around it all to hell.

Absolutely right. Merchan said: "The last thing I want to do is to put you in jail. You are the former president of the US and possibly the next president as well."
Merchan, literally stating that he is for a two-tier justice system. He warned Trump "do it again and I'll throw you in jail." So Trump did it again... and got just another fine. TENTH gag order violation right after he was told that the next time would be jail. But nope. Yet another fine. "I don't want to put you in jail, because I am literally advocating for a biased justice system."
To anyone reading this: even if in the end Trump is found guilty -- let's even grant that he'll even do time in jail, for the sake of argument -- know that the judge had already failed when he kept treating Trump with privilege in the courtroom, and that the guilty verdict happened to come through DESPITE these pro-Trump biases in the system. You deserve better than Merchan, and better than any other representative of the justice apparatus who treats Trump or any other elite differently due to their class status. Your democracy is slowly dying, and these spineless cowards in these institutions are mumbling and wringing their hands pathetically while they watch Trump put his hands on Lady Liberty with that signature sh!t-eating grin on his face.

Brazil justice system was much quicker with Bolsonaro who tried his own January 6th insurrection event. Let’s remind everyone that his son met with the infamous Steve Bannon at Mar-a-Lago prior to the election to learn more about how to steal an election. So on the day of the failed insurrection, dozens of protesters were arrested and few months later, former president Bolsonaro was dismissed to appear on ballots for the next few years. I disagree. The judge has to follow an incremental path of punishment. That’s following the law in New York state. By following that path he is making sure 45 can’t get a mistrial of any sort. He is being cautious, yes, but for a reason.

I had hope in Judge Merchan. He has run a tight court with the defendant until now. He's no different than the other judges that won't hold 45 accountable for contempt. However, I do believe Judge Chutkan won't play around with 45 once she's able to continue her case.

I saw it pointed out by another news source that one of the reasons his former presidency does need to be considered is because of secret service protection. They are bound by federal law to protect him as former president, but there's no precedent for how they do this to someone in jail.
