Wow fantastic job i will be building some ultra low reliefe buildings soon so this video is going to be a big help so thanks for taking the time to put this video together.- Nicholas.
Well done! Please keep on sharing your modelling projects. I may not always comment on a particular video but rest assured I watch each and every one and always leave a much deserved thumbs up. Looking forward to the next one!
That is a beautiful model, while at the same time reminding me of the degradation to which much of the station infrastructure had fallen by the 80s. Ah, I remember those loos where a pair of wellies was a must. The elasticity of the card when you cut the arch tops was very surprising. An excellent taste in the water of life too. Stephen
Thanks Stephen. Imagine my delight when I realised that the "heavy bottles" I bought to hold things in place while the glue dried could actually be opened and the contents enjoyed! :) Michael.
Hi Steven... Bradford is definitely my muse when it comes to Chandwell... I am half-pondering trying to build a representation of the City Hall behind Chandwell's station, but I wonder if it would be too difficult to pull off in card, in N Scale...?
@@Chandwell That would be nice. I would like to see some iconic Bradford buildings like the old T&A building or The Alhambra and pubs such as The Fighting Cock. Perhaps the Museum of Photography and Film.

Many thanks Euan! Yes, I think the sub-ten-minute video is the way to go... somewhere around 6 works a treat, I find. It takes longer to make a 6-minute video than a 30-minute one though - you have to give more thought to what you want to say, and which bits of the hours of footage to cut! :)
This layout just gets better and better. Superb scratch building as usual. Genius solution on the power transfer on the canopy lighting. Great work Michael
Oh that’s brilliant Michael, Mrs Exehaven and myself have just watched it on the the big telly. Ingenious way of lighting the canopy and the detail you bring to your scratch build is excellent. Thank you for the mention and link, the poster was spot on and one day there will be a cliff much similar to that in your poster. The station looks fantastic. I’m having lot’s of trouble uploading my video this week so between me and my son who works with TH-cam with his job, we’ll work out what’s wrong! Cheers Michael and thanks again mate, John
Glad you liked it John! I had a chuckle putting in another Exehaven reference (that's two you have now!) and I am really pleased it ticked your fancy. Hope you get your TH-cam problems sorted - I am looking forward to seeing what you've been up to... See you next time! Michael.
What an excellent video. I really do appreciate the way you explain in depth how to do things, like achieving the raised sections on the architecture in the railway station. I learn so much from this video- thank you.
What a fantastic result - truly an inspiration! I love the attention to detail that you bring to your projects and always look forward to a new video from Chandwell. Thankyou.
What a great build! I had a feeling we were in for something special, and you didn't disappoint. It's those little details that really seal the deal, even with the knowledge they "probably" won't be seen. I'm looking forward to the roof and how to set out a roof hip - John Ahern's book "Minaiture Building Construction" gives one method of doing this, but it relies on having a scale drawing of the subject from which to measure the slope, angle, etc. Fabulous stuff and thank you for posting.
Thank you Paul! I’m not sure if my roof technique is 100% accurate but it seems to work for me. It’s more of a “trick” than a science. I hope it works for you. Thank you for watching and commenting as ever. All the best! Michael.
Thanks again for another great video Michael! Thanks for the mention too. I particularly liked the Exhaven bits, love that poster and the steps up to the street and toilets are really effective. The spring in the arches was very interesting, and surprising.
Another wonderful piece of work, Michael. The steps are an absolute masterstroke and the whole scene is amazing. A very enjoyable video. Thumbs up and please continue to provide us with these updates. Best wishes, Ian
Thank you Ian! Always appreciate your comments. I’ve started work on the side building today, which includes the clock tower and portico. It’s a big build but I hope it’s going to be just as good as this one! Michael.

A question regarding InkScape. I have laid some Scales Scenes brickwork onto a rectangle which you have shown in one of your previous episodes. Now I have tried bending the overlaid rectangle with the 'path/path effects' to get it curve as in the brickwork over an arch but Ink scape doesn't want to play. I can do it with a vanilla rectangle but with an overlaid one ...... nada. Any thoughts?
Hi Neil, this is where Inkscape won't help you I'm afraid. Inkscape can bend shapes but not textures. So the texture will remain the same regardless of the shape it's contained in. To get arches, it's best to start with something that already is an arch, or to bend the paper once printed. I did make a circle once, but I cut out individual bricks and rotated them. I think I showed this in my River Weir Scene video. I do have "arches" on my list of Inkscape topics to show in a future video... so watch out for that. Thanks for watching! Michael.
