The 7800 port of Moon Cresta has the Colecovision beat. The 7800 is just a much more powerful system. I wish the 7800 had the support Colecovision has though. It's been getting some love lately, but nowhere near the Colecovision and nowhere as long. Some guy found the encryption software for the 7800 on an ST some time in the 2000s. If that hadn't been found, we still wouldn't have any new games for it.
I sooooo badly want a 7800! I do have the Atari 2600+ which plays 7800 games, but I haven't really collected any of the games yet. Would love to hear some recommendations!
The coleco has many, many homebrews that are largely out of print. Frankly, I am surprised you scored that donkey kong arcade. The colecovision library has probably more than doubled in the last 25 years.
Heh, just wait 'till you see what's coming out for ColecoVision in the future. There's an image converter, a BASIC compiler, and various other tools that will turn the slow drip of game releases into a deluge!
IN DK Arcade, why is the Mario walking sound weird sounding like it under water? I saw another video of DK Arcade that had Arcade Accurate audio and even better looking graphics.
Can't help you on the audio portion. It is what it is. Nothing has been manipulated there. The graphics. though, is easily explained. As I mention at the 3:35 mark there is a sprite/color mode you can toggle at the title screen to choose either more color (more flicker) or less flicker (less color). I chose less flicker to start with, but show the more color option later.
I just learned about the super game module. Any idea why the website no longer works for Opcode? How do you become a member to order a module and the games? I only see people listing these on eBay. Thanks! Love your channel!
As far as the website not working... it's never worked as long as I've been buying from them. I believe their main correspondence is through their Facebook page.
@@TheLaymanVideoGamer cool, thanks for confirming. I tried to sign up to the Facebook page but not sure if it worked as I’m not in the group yet. I’ll keep trying.
The Adam version is good, but not as good as this one. The Super Game Module is a must have if you have an original ColecoVision system as it will let you play a number of new homebrew re-imagined games that are usually light years better than the originals. There is a link in the details section where you can buy one. As far as the atarimax ultimate sd goes, I'm not into emulation as I prefer the original hardware, but I think it's worth a look if you prefer that route.
@@TheLaymanVideoGamer .... but its not for emulation. its to continue to play games on the original hardware. most of the homebrews aren't available to purchase and it is the only way to play them on real hardware.
Can you show us where in the manuals that it states these titles were legally licensed for Opcode to produce and sell. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure these are illegal.
the games looks atually really nice, didnt expect that. I never had a ColecoVision, I never even heard about the system until a while ago, but it seems to be a really interesting system. The "original" games didnt look as good as this?
ColecoVision is, like I said, one of my fav systems of all time. Only Donkey Kong was an “original” release and while that was a very good port (best at the time by far) this new version blows it out of the water. The Super Game Module allows the extra enhanced data/graphics though, so it SHOULD be better. It’s a nearly perfect port - if not completely perfect
@@TheLaymanVideoGamer It's funny how people think the Super Game Module improves graphics. The SGM has zero graphic-enhancing ability. Programmers are using it for convenience's sake. For example, when porting MSX games, it saves from rewriting the sound code. It will help to look at games like Sydney Hunter, The Cure, and Suite Macabre that all run on the stock Coleco to see if it's not the SGM making the games better.
0:40 I did the same mod to my Colecovision. Got the switch from radio shack. It's amazing what a pain in the butt that old switch was.
such a pain. 👍

Just got my shipping notification for dk and gradius!
You're going to love it!

I agree! Tons of good homebrew games. I have at least a dozen or so homebrew games so far, and that keeps growing all the time.

The best version of Donkey Kong on the Colecovision. Now I get to go watch it on another channel so I can hear it without the rambling.
thank you?

Will these games play on the collectorvision phoenix console?
Yes!!!

You do know, of course, DK Arcade is not an authorized game, not licensed from Nintendo.
Of course not.
Dude don't upload videos about DK Arcade to TH-cam.
Why?
