It breaks up the various angles at the B choke, and forces the defenders to either push through a viper wall facing directly forwards which is bad, or not knowing who is behind that wall. If Viper was solo controller yes it'd be bad, but pro double controller often looks like this, where viper walls are thrown to create a ton of pressure and deny info.
