True story. I was at the table when the bad beat happened. College kid buys in for $100 at the 1/3. Plays for 20 minutes and ran his quad 3s into low straight flush. Lucky sob not knowing he won the bad beat of 38k.
In over 20 years of consistent play, I've never hit a bad beat jackpot or was even at a table that had one, on the other hand, I know several of my peers that have had it happen multiple times
Been playing for 30 years. I hit a bad beat jackpot for $50k. I got $25k. I’ve also had a couple of table shares the best being a 100k jackpot with 8 players - 2 players sat out the hand so we each got $6500. Both scores were at 3/6 limit at the Oaks in Emeryville. Gotta play limit if you want to play for jackpots.
I was at the table where there was a bad beat hand. Unfortunately, a huge primary jackpot and a secondary jackpot had been won the weekend before so the actual jackpot was very small so my share was tiny. Another time I almost won a jackpot. A player was supposed to quit and I would have got his seat, but he decided to play a couple more hands. Of course, the very next hand he won the jackpot. I'm a terrible jackpot player.
Ours was 250k with 3 jackpots in reserve . That being said that’s across 4 casinos and it’s minimum quad 7’s beat by 8’s or better . I’ve been apart of 6 table shares but never had the big share .
I've been on two interesting spots on bad beat jackpots. One, I had the winning hand on the very first hand of a new game and another where I busted and decided to call it quits for the night and they hit it on the very next hand. The thing that makes the one where I got up okay, is they wouldnt have hit it if I didnt stand up.
First live session I played poker I got a Royal playing Seven Card Stud. That was my first of 4 so far. Play enough hands you’ll get one. Been playing 24 years now. To be fair the other 3 times were online.
I recall Harrah's in Kansas City having a $250K bad beat around 15 years ago. After a 3-bet pre-floip action, I was drawing after the flop with KcJc for a Royal with AcQcQh showing and two all-ins ahead of me. The river was the10c. I was excited until both of them turned over a Q each. Ha
I know Ken from the TV in the good old WWF Days. I loved him there. He did a great job an was a great worker. Just the wrong booking cost him a greater carreer at the WWE
I’m glad ours wasn’t capped at $10k. It was $332k. Some young kid got $166k and I got $83k, $500 high hand, and won a $500 pot. That was 5 years ago so that money is long gone.
In the 1990’s, before NLH was a thing and only Limit Holdem, Omaha Hi/Lo and some 7-Stud games were played in CA card rooms…lowball had completely disappeared… While visiting Los Angeles, I wandered into the Bicycle casino looking to play 4/8 or 6/12 Limit Holdem. There were about 50 tables going and ALL of them were 2/4 Limit Holdem because the BBJ was $250k+. In those days, each limit had a separate BBJ…4/8 was only 10k or so…even the high rollers were playing 2/4…it was crazy. At that time it was only AAA88 beaten so very unusual to get so high. Even the Commerce was empty 😮
Ben please tell us that they stop the rake for it,when they reach 10,000 if that’s the case I’m good with that . Not a fan of extra rakes or any rake come to think of it,because they just keep going up.
I recall back in the day when you were very stout in your opinion about the gimmick that is the badbeat (1 in M) to get 2 players to land those qualifying hole cards and getting the community cards to cooperate and still having both hole cards play from both players. Think you said how it was comical when a new player sat and asked specifically: "Hey-What's the bad beat up to?" Really good to see some dividends paid in yellow birds back your way. CONGRATS and maybe next session (probably already happened) when you get sat belt out: "Soooo, what's the jackpot up to today?" Table: (grumble/chuckle) You: "I've started including "jackpots" into my monthly "win-rate" tabulations." Table: "Uh, Ben...think you might have a fever...let's get your head checked."
I've never even been part of a table share of a jackpot. The one time it would have happened, someone killed the action by going all in pre flop. I ended up getting a royal flush and if the hand played out normally, another player would have had quad 10s. That was at Hollywood Park (LA)
$5K for a bad beat jackpot? What a fucking ripoff!! I was in one my local Indian casinos about six weeks ago and they were at $570K and counting! The poker tables were packed 24 hours a day 7 days a week!
23:24 Bad beat money is not "removed from player pool". It is distributed from promotions money (players contributed). It is not "one person", there is minimally "table share", or "room share", where multiple players are paid. Bad beat promotions in poker rooms are indicative, the JOINT is returning promotions money to players. Tight wad joints that rip off promotions money, don't feature "bad beat jackpots".
Foxwoods BBJ goes north of 300k pretty regularly. Hard to hit though, gotta have quad 8’s + and lose and HAVE to be using both hole cards for any hand involved
Absolutely loving the Team Run It Up t-shirt, I so miss that series, on a side note I did spot one Mr. Mike Nelson in Las Vegas at The WSOP, earlier this month.
It’s in the name… bad beat. Whoever takes the bad beat aka the loser of the hand gets the biggest share. The winner of the hand, in this case the royal flush holder, already won the pot’s money. Plus the $2500 share and he won $3700 total from that hand. That’s the definition of a bad beat jackpot
near Montreal at the playground poker club the bad beat jackpot was well over 2 millions$ a few months ago... Right now it is over 1.7 million$ on the 26th of july.
I feel like one day there should be a game at the Peppermill poker room with nothing but Attitude Era legends. Hopefully none of us will be put on the receiving end of "Get the tables!" 😄
What no damn table share for the jackpot that's ridiculous imagine hitting it in a California card room definitely getting a table share. That was a brutal bad beat quad queens against the stone nuts the royal flush damn
The players fund (jackpot drop) in Peppermill Poker is NOT centered around bad beats, which is exactly why it's always (only) 10K even after it hits. The $2 jackpot drop is the revenue stream that pays the Enormous Magnitude of Bonus Hands and promotional events that occur between bad beats. The $$$ amount given back to players this way dwarfs the bad beat prize. It's literally in the 100's of thousands of $$$ between bad beat hands dealt. 👍😃
This summer I was involved in my 1st bad beat jackpot and I wasn't playing sort of. Two tables running at home game with 24K jackpot. I ask a dude at other table if he wants to do insurance where we agree to split winnings if either one of us hits it. He say yes and 2 hours later wins it. I get 6K!
The bad beat jackpot at my home casino is at like 850,000 rite now. Loser gets half, winner gets 25 percent and there is a table and room share but I’m not sure how much
i don't understand the logic of having a bad beat jackpot if it's going to be structured based on what amounts to the view that they're bad for the game. and where does all that money go??? that's like 1 day's worth of drops.
congrats.. nice jackpot 👍🏻... ive only won one myself... same as yours (10k) i had AA an older man had 66 for a A 66 xx board years ago... this is not even a jackpot anymore at commerce as now you need AA full of 10 10 or better
Crazy. The only time I've won the BB jackpot, I also lost quad queens vs Royal Flush (was hearts on mine). My jackpot equally sucked, was only 6.5k at the time, so I got 3.2k 😢. Meanwhile a casino 45 min away jackpot was at 107k at the time.....
wow the bad beat sucks there lol my small local is capped at 20k its a 3 tables room and the bad beat stays on the table 10 k 5 k and the tables splits the rest lol
@@denisbelanger1441 lol well thats why quads over qauds is very rare , my local 3 tables casino its aces fullof tens i think have to use both ur cards and its capped at 20k 10 k loser 5 k winner of the hand and table splits the rest ,even with aces full of 10s it rarely hits cause of the counterfit on the board probability
$10k is crap. It doesn’t have to be $150k to one person but more than $10k. My local casino is $50k flat paid 50/25/25. They take a $4 rake with $1 jackpot drop. You need to get them to raise that 10k for sure. At least 20-30k
I don’t like bad beat jackpots but if that hand occurred where I play at the Playground in Montreal you would win a ton of money …. Current bad beat jackpot is 1.676 million
Surely giving 50% of the BBJ to the person who takes the bad beat is giving a prize to someone who hasn't won a poker hand and therefore the interpretation of the rule is obviously wrong?
True story. I was at the table when the bad beat happened. College kid buys in for $100 at the 1/3. Plays for 20 minutes and ran his quad 3s into low straight flush. Lucky sob not knowing he won the bad beat of 38k.
Bro that bad beat jackpot rule is freakin bullshit. I would be pissed if I were part of that table
In over 20 years of consistent play, I've never hit a bad beat jackpot or was even at a table that had one, on the other hand, I know several of my peers that have had it happen multiple times
Same here.

I'm a terrible jackpot player.
capped at 10k, and splash pot for 25% of it is garbage. Aren't they collecting money every hand for the BBJ, but cap the payout, sounds scammy to me.
I was thinking the same thing. Around me it's not uncommon for the bad beat jackpot to reach north of 100k
Yeah this is kinda lame.
Ours was 250k with 3 jackpots in reserve . That being said that’s across 4 casinos and it’s minimum quad 7’s beat by 8’s or better . I’ve been apart of 6 table shares but never had the big share .
Yep Vegas BBJ are much higher in local casinos. Orleans I remember was 80k or something off top of my head. This is the lowest I've ever heard
By me a bad beat jackpot just hit for $670,000 guy got $380k and it’s always over 200k at parx even after it hits because they have a reserve
I HAD A SPADE ROYAL FLUCH IN A CAPPED GAME AT KICKAPOO LUCKY EAGLE CASINO ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO. GOOD TO SEE BEN DEACH BACK ON THE VLOG
@8:30 I think I’ve played with Mason at the silver legacy or it might’ve been Lake Tahoe at Harvey’s. Super nice guy
My home casino bbj is up to 570k any quads over quads. Consolation BB is 10k for SF over quads. Rake is 5 max +1+1
Exactly same casinos in my city are $150k min to $500k quads or better
