- The chum is THE traditional temporary dwelling of the Nenets - the last reindeer breeders of the Great Siberian North.
In the freezing cold of Siberia, we brought our cameras and joined their family in this moment of gathering, to observe each step of this home in the making.
No comment, just sit, watch and get warm.

Absolutely love the Nenets people. If I had a different life I’d love to come back as a Nenet man. I’ve always been fascinated by the people above the Arctic Circle and think they have achieved a special kind of peace and oneness with nature there. Just look how they treat and revere their reindeer. It’s very touching
Amazing how humans adapt to their immediate environment for survival. Much respect to them!

One of the nice things of life in Arctic is you don't need any refrigerator to store your food. I like how they chopped wood and then with the same axe chopped meat for dinner. I will try it to impress my wife.

I feel bad for the poor babies and children who will never enjoy something as simple like a sunny day playing in the park. Then again when the disasters of climate change take place, maybe these people will be the only humans to survive.

I'm sorry but this isn't actually authentic, this is more of an re-enactment of how they once lived. This is all just for show for tourists. I've lived 6months with actual nomads in the tundra these people are just there for tourists

Seeing how these people live gave me a good glimpse of how some Native American groups lived in the past.
Be glad we live where we can shower daily... props to these folks god bless them

Why is your heart pained?
It's fascinating to see this but having been born and bred in sub-sahara in Africa where it's generally hot, I don't think I can ever live a normal life under Siberian conditions. This is a no-go area for me. I think am not genetically made to endure these conditions.

Actually the 'chum' is an awful spelling of a Russian word meaning any old conical tent. The Nenets live in a Mya.
