I’ve worked in Home Health Care in this particular area of town. There was always this feeling in the atmosphere of poverty, depression, and violence every time I’d go in those areas. A cycle of constant act of family violence, depression, high school dropouts, teen pregnancy, and drugs. Vicious cycle.

It’s so sad to see how everyone is basically desensitized to the violence. Tour guide was very humble; my heart goes out to everyone trying to better themselves & get out of the hood. Everyone is so quick to judge. I read a lot of comments w/ ppl saying that they had it worse, please don’t compare your struggles, the mental anguish is still the same.
Growing up in the hood was tuff lowkey glad my pops took us out the hood I pray and hope all you guys make it out the hood and stay out of trouble nothing but positive vibes y’all shout out from Houston 💪🏽💪🏽
Right if your getting shot at since you been a shorty why would you want to stay in the hood. Gtfo asap no lie leave all that hood shit tough guy shit for the pendejos who want to die young. Stop the cycle
how can you relate they live deep in the hood and spend life constantly watching their backs and you live in Massachusetts you can not possibly feel them in anyway. they in California where life is hard and again you are sweet Massachusetts.
I don’t recall soccer players playing with bullet proof vest @ghoster if you associating yourself or think wearing that type of shit is some kind of fashion then you basically asking for it
Growing up I didn’t realize I was struggling, and it was mostly always a good time in the hood. Fighting, riding bikes, jumping off of roofs, just doing dumb shit. I been shot at and all that, but at the end of the day, I’m still here, still alive, and I couldn’t be any more happy mayne
One thing about Hispanics is that no matter where they are they stick together and they take care of their properties you can see a huge difference between these projects and where it’s predominantly AA
I like how he talks about not all the violence and bad stuff, and he goes in to some of the fun and happy times too. Like the thing about racing for the coffee cake or getting chased up the stairs by his mom. This guy's cool.
I lived in sun valley in 78 -80. Shootings at the local park all the time. Got bussed to an all white school in the hills. It was gangsta as hell. If you think this is cool you’re an idiot and have never been there. Chickens running around in the yard people chasing you trying to steal your bicycle. If we hadn’t of moved I would have gang banged for sure. I had friends with brothers who banged
Been to so many quinces and bautismos and weddings at Guardian Angel and Santa Rosa, then we all drive on over to someone’s spot for beer and carne asada in the backyard. Kids running around, hanging with their friends and family. Best memories ever. I got so much love for Pacoima, some of the best people I know come from there fr.
First thing I noticed when watching this was the main guy you're following says at very beginning that the goal is TO GET OUT of hood. Most of these hood vlogs it seems as though many of these cats are absolutely content with living the hood life. And yes I know it's all some know but having "goals" is legit lol

I had a bus driver on the Orange Line (a light rail service in the Valley) tell me back in the 2010s that if you have no reason to go to Pacoima then don't go there. Ever since he told me that I ain't ever been over there. Pacoima is the South Central of the Valley,
That coffee cake mention brought back memories. 👍🏽 dude spoke a lot of truth about the hood life conditions. We normalized A LOT of shit, called A LOT of “bad things” fun, and was trying to maintain, chill, and it’s too bad that feeling don’t last, and how a lot of homies didn’t get to the age we are now, to look back on it, but it is what it is. The system has failed us as a people of black and brown ethnicity.
I grew up in South Central but went to school near the San Fernando valley so in a way it’s basically like my second home got really in touch with the valley and my girl lives out in the valley but man I love the valley more than where I live

Those Project Boys were hilarious. I used to work at an auto parts store around the corner. I'm black, and those fools used to come in for parts and they all called me "Ben Davis". One day I asked one of them, "Why you guys call me Ben Davis", that fool pointed at the logo on his shirt of a Gorilla with a hat on...we all busted up laughing!! They were cool🤣🤣

Dawm I use to live with my mom in those Projects when I was young. I still remember when that young girl was found dead my jefita showed up to pay respects. It was rough growing up in Pacoima but luckily was around a gang of gang affiliated members from all gangs in the 818 Valley but was mutual and they showed me respect and likewise is why I made it out I still remember that little church ⛪️ Good to see all the raza doing positive
Keep that one of a kind shit hole filled with satanic worshippers that run that state, I like wide open space where I can own my land and not polluted by smog and noise, im from cali and I dont like it out there, great diversity of people, but them good people can do better
Hell no have therm stay there and keep the gang garbage out of other states. I don't want this in my state, keep it in Cali with the rest of the cucarachas, it's why I left.
That is my stomping grounds. Also down Fillmore Street . The hood. Also went to the same school. 1985 to 1991. Thanks for the video. Brought me back memories
I like how this one went into simply how they grew up. I'm from Jordan downs now living in surprise Arizona with a wife and kids in a wonderful home. So you can make it out, however it's harder for ppl like us growing up in the projects. This shit keeps me humble and learning to keep respecting where I'm from and not forget. I was everywhere in L.A. messing around in different projects. I loved it, but seeing a lot is what made me make the choice to leave and change. But I love this perspective, of showing us his hood.
That mom with her kid spoke real shit. Work hard, work together for real change and stay humble. Everyone always got envy and hate that other people got shit. Why bring people down when we can try to lift everyone up.
No don't be fooled the hood is incognito and you don't see it. We moved out of SF Gardens in 77 and to Granada Hills. That year they began busing kids and my little sister was jacked up constantly in the restroom at school because those kids were jealous. If they had been not bused we would of made a clean break. I had to take my lil sis out of the country to my aunts for 2 yrs to stop that cycle and then to live with me a year in another state.
@@athletics0067 Lmao! I tell people this all the time. But I must say that my cousin did ballet as well but he was a straight-up Criminal. He just got out of doing 17 years of Federal prison. So just because you went to ballet doesn't mean you ain't a Hard Rock!
Los Angeles has really calmed down as far as violence in the streets compared to the 80s and the 90s. Most of those that claim gangster now are basically middle class folks that have a nostalgia for past gangster culture. It’s smooth living in la now at least you can walk around the streets without being afraid of getting shot.
