  • Look, we'll be the first to admit when something is impressive, and the Deadbolt lock on these new knives is absolutely impressive. It is enormously strong and performed very well. Talk about a great competition! Watch the full video and don't forget to subscribe!
    Testing performed by Andrew Demko.

Fantastic demonstration. It's great to see Demko doing an honest test of the Deadbolt against his own Tri-Ad lock and not putting it down, but rather saying "We're very impressed with it's performance" and "The Deadbolt is enormously strong".

This is awesome, Cold Steel has a good additude about it and we get to see 2 great knives go head to head. The SR1 Lite is currently in my rn pocket so I am slightly biased. I would love to see the Ti-Lite 6 liner lock updated to keep the same great sleek look but with a lock that surpases its current state as that is my other favorite go to edc knife. Keep up the great work Cold Steel!

I don't think its possible to do the Ti Lite 6" or 4" because the blade set in the channel to far plus the quillions set up is a no no , so it would need a little bigger handle I would believe ,but you know Andrew lovers a challenge so I could be wrong.

Im a big fan of coldsteel but Im very impressed by the crkt deadbolt lock. Thx for the honest tests. 600 is way more then even a true hard core user will do with the knife. For me 1 thing im not the biggest fan about the tri-ad lock is that the action isnt very fun to play with for me.
Never had a CRKT deadbolt lock but if the lock is faster and easier to deploy it could be interesting. Idk. Edit: Oh well just looked it up. Seems also not very playable but they at least can make a flipper knife with the deadbolt lock. I would love to see your new shark lock on cold steel knives @Andrew Demko for the increase in knife-play-fun.

Well the cold steel tri ad lock isn't designed to be played with. It doesn't run on prissy ball bearings. Also you can make any tri ad lock from cold steel into a pocket wave knife using an aftermarket snaggletooth wave opener.

Respect to the Deadbolt lock! It didn't hold as much weight as the CS, but it is stronger than a lot of other folding knives out there. I have loved CS since my first Voyager in 2008, and of course my Recon 1. But I also own a Clever Girl and I enjoy the easy out/easy in of the Deadbolt lock without putting my fingers in path of blade, and ease of use with gloves on.

Amazing Great Job Andrew Demko and Cold Steel!!!

  • @internetuser1324
    @internetuser1324 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I had a rajah iii (the smaller one) that just felt indestructible. Once I left it on top a stack of roof trusses we were cutting the straps off of on the job site and I thought I had lost it. Turns out that I had just left it on the stack and the lift driver had put another stack on top of it! Had to be thousands of pounds. I could see it sandwiched in there from the side and when we lifted the bundle up so I could grab the knife, it had been pressed into the wood so hard that I had to kind of hammer it out with a piece of dunnage that was laying around. Opened and closed perfectly fine with no noticeable damage at all! About 3 weeks later the little thumb plate thing broke off, at which point cold steel sent me another one right away. I have abused the living piss out of this knife for close to 8 years. It lived in my truck bed with a few other tools like hammers and wrecking bars, just rolling around in the rain, snow, and mud, and she never failed me once. I have finally cleaned it up really nice and reground the edge and it lives in the glove box now. Definitely earned its place there. I’m looking to buy another cold steel knife but don’t know which one. Any recommendations? I like the voyager and recon and the lawman but I really liked how the raja didn’t raise too many eyebrows on the job. Some of the black coated blades and models look militaryish or something? I haven’t seen all their models though

Both, I'm sure, will hold up em well in everyday use. I just bought the lynchpin so I could try out the dead bolt lock design. Got a deal at 39.95. Hope to soon add a tri ad lock to my collection. Thanks for the great video and stay sharp.

Wow! The Clever Girl, "ROCKS!" I have never seen any other 3.8mm Folder handle that much weight (585 ft lbs), except for the XL Espada. Flavio Ikoma's Deabolt, "ROCKS!!!" That's a massive amount of weight for any folder to hold. Flavio's design is a real Tri Ad Contender, in my opinion.
This makes it a proven Contender in my book... Now, I have proven faith in it... I know the Tri Ad won, ounce for ounce; that's not to be disputed. But, the Deadbolt is one of the easiest folding lock designs to use, operate, and clean, on the Market, today.
It puts the Axis Lock to shame; my other favorite lock type. And, is only second to the Tri Ad Lock; my other favorite lock type... And, I'll bet the Flavio Ikoma designed Seismic is even stronger than my favorite CRKT, SDUEDC, the Clever Girl. CRKT has a real awesome folding knife lock with the Deadbolt. Cold Steel, finally, has a real Competitor, now... Peace, Stiletto :-)

    • @thechristiansamurai8459

Whaaaat!? That ending! Good tasting. Like to have seen a edge strike test, with increasing weight and edge damage result. Think that's more real life. At what level of pressure do you have damage to the working portion of the blade. No one will ever put that much force on the handle of that blade. Test increased weight impact to the blade and or increased harness of the impacting object to at what point edge damage occurs. I have some testing ideas that be really exacting, easily calculatable results, be entertaining on video and hasn't been done broadcast to the public as far as I know.

Great Scott! Every return swing of that blade on the pendulum is giving me anxiety! All I see is that fuckers fingers disappearin’. You got balls, sir.

Should have compared to a large g-10 espada with steel nested liners to be fair. Liners will always be stronger.

I wish cold steel made a locking mechanism that wasn't a lockback.. I've owned alot of cold steel knives and I still go back to button locks and compression locks for quick 1 handed convenience ..I would sacrifice that strength for ease of use.. jmo.. I still have cold steel as my prep and get home kits though..P.S.. bring back the TALWAR XL and the HOLDOUT...

But what happened to the CRKT? Why can't you show the Tri-Ad lock failing?

Because it was a test against the other knife, not ultimate failure, just a test on which was strongest.
