Very important point to keep in mind with cast iron - not to cook acidic foods like tomatoes, lemon, tamarind, curd etc. So the choice of curries that can be cooked in cast iron is limited.
I have pure iron kadai. I cook all types of sabjis in that. Even sabjis having tomato. It really works good. Even if you use tomato in iron kadai, don't keep it for long time. Once sabji is done, immediately take it out from kadai. Rinse and wipe the kadai and then put some vegetable oil and grease the kadai from inside and outside.
