Years upon years later and the rebellion of the people is still present. History often repeats itself. This is a sad reality. God provides a clear path for His people and they see Him more as a burden than a savior. Even today, even after the glorious gift of Jesus Christ, look around. Hate, jealousy, evil and division. The curse of Adam lives on.
So I will choose to be light in a dark place. I will not take the world’s inventory, taking my own inventory daily, studying the word, and praying unceasingly keep my focus on the Lord Jesus. When my focus is him the ugliness of the world fades and I can be used by God. Amen! This was a helpful study on not being jealous, self-righteous, self-centered, and complaining.
though you are also right in saying..prayer of a righteous man surely is effective? remember that God's will is more effective. God provides what a man is praying for because He choses to. not because of man's ability. that's a safer interpretation to avoid false hopes. remember. plenty of prayers also weren't answered. even Jesus utters "Let You will be done" when He prays.
Yes, but I believe the pastor did say that God is WILLING to listen to the pleading of the righteous, not that God will just answer yes no matter what.
"not good enough" is something you know well, isn't it? Live as it is isn't good enough for you, without an afterlife. It's meaningless, you say. God given and wonderous and mysterious - sure. But not what you want. You want more. MUCH more. Eternity please. And let it be an eternity of comfort and pleasure. You want it so much, you're even prepared to pray for it. And maybe refrain from sinning. Well, not all the time, of course. We're only human, right? But really, with all the prayers and a good helping of repent 'n' all, you must be entitled to an eternal afterlife in heaven? I for one appreciate this life here on earth. I really don't see how I deserve more than the limited life span here. I don't even believe that I deserve any of what I have. But I'm grateful. And I'm enjoying the experience. And I accept that I cannot possibly know what this life is. And I sure don't need to lie about it's origin, about a possible purpose or about a fantastic sequel that - for some very strange reason - seems to match my ideal image of anything down to a T.
