You definitely seem passionate about what you’re saying but what you’re saying is simply your opinion. Humans are born of free will and therefore are free to choose what they want to eat. Since humans tend to be physically healthier when they consume foods from multiple sources be it meat from animals and fish or vegetables they are considered omnivores. It’s when people start restricting their diets one way or the other that they become unhealthy. I’m new to this channel but am very surprised that you would attack this gentleman in this negative way. Besides canned meat is the ultimate fast food as far as I am concerned. Fry it , BBQ , chicken salad, soups casseroles and on and on. Its already cooked when you need it. Just open heat and eat. Great time saver for mama.

Having kids manage the animals teaches them so many skills it's hard to list them all. I love that they were able to go right out and say this one is mean, this one is the egg eater, this one is this or that. The girls know it has to be done and too many chickens means so many annoyances. I raised chickens most of my childhood and into my teen years, they were annoying once we built up a large flock. We had some mean ones that went to freezer land, once they go mean they stay mean.
Once again they are built homestead tough. Doing things I don't have the heart or stomach for.🤷 if I was left to my own devices I would definitely have to become a vegetarian. My thoughts during inspection was aww they are so pretty. Big beautiful birds. Papa " Big & Tasty" 😂 I totally have the Charlotte's Web mind set. I'm way to empathetic 🤦

I’m wondering if they’re as proficient with indoor chores. Are they learning how to cook, mend clothing, take care of babies, can food? I have the feeling your answer is “ yes” they can do all that and more!!
It’s amazing how I have tried to find butchering roosters videos and this is the 4th video where the footage dies or got lost on the power I’m liking for 🫠 my kids and I watched the whole thing until we saw the footage was lost 😭
Yall's kids are awesome. Girls are yall sad? NOOOO lol. The only thing my girl knows about chickens is which one was mean lol. I try so hard to teach her but she is just not observant. She will feed them for me and lock them up when I need her to but other than that she has nothing to do with any of the animals unless it is a dog or cat. I will be culling roosters hopefully this evening. When she was little she loved picking the feathers off. Now that she is a teen I will be lucky to get her to touch one.
the feet need to be completely submurged in the hot water and skinned before you use them in bone broth. i don't trust it. i give them to the dogs; also if you are canning, you may be able to skip the scalding and plucking; just skin them and gut them. i do recommend on that old duck not scalding it; the meat may need to be ground due to being tough. let me know if this was canned and if it was tender. i am raising meat ducks right now
Just wondering it didn’t look like you put some tide soap in the hot water. It helps loosen the feathers and cleans it too. I’m not sure it things have changed it’s been 20 years since I plucked chickens.
@@PapaPepper it works a charm, powdered tide about 1/2 cup in your scalding water. Your not going to believes how easy and clean your chickens will be. They rinse off in the ice water after being prepped.

We are raising some Jersey Giant chicken's the rooster can weigh up to 11 lbs. They just take longer to grow out, and in my opinion a healthier bird. If your interested in a few let me know... I've got some hatching
We marinated some breasts and enjoyed them in the instant pot, baked some in the oven, and then cooked some others in the instant pot to enjoy with hot wing sauce
Not true the chicken won't continue to eat eggs I have dealt with this so many times all you have to do is crack an egg empty it and fill it with mustard and chickens hate mustard so after you throw it in there and they taste the mustard they will stop eating eggs

I kindly say this...I am a mother of 4, we've been homeschooling the last 3 years and this year we have expanded our homestead to include chickens, bunnies, cats, dogs, a Fancy Bearded Dragon, 5 Mastiffs and a slew of Jumping Spiders. I am watching this video/channel for the first time because we have a couple of Roos that unfortunately need culling. I can not have them attacking my family, even though we hatched them ourselves and do love them. While watching this video, in addition to seeing how the culling is done humanely, I am amazed and encouraged by these precious littles that are a part of this family. They are extremely kind, intelligent, selfless, and knowledgeable. What other young children do you know of that could do THIS succinctly and efficiently to help their Papa, Mama, and homestead? With due respect, you have no idea what these children have or haven't been exposed to, and I would wager that they have very little time to sit in front of a TV, computer, or device to see this violence that you speak of. THIS family is DOING IT RIGHT, and most imperatively, they are being taught and are learning how to be self-sufficient!! That just might help them to avoid the violent places and people in the future because they will know how to live off their own land and not rely on others to provide for their needs. The one point I agree with you on is that they are a beautiful family. And as much as I love chickens, and clearly they do also, they are for sustenance as well. Culling them humanely is not even remotely close to being "violent" lol. Let this family continue to do what they are passionate about and what works for them. Tough meat to be eating rooster usually just feed them to the hogs or pigs
They can be tender and juicy, and older ones can be cooked in a pressure cooker
