Tintinhull Garden, Somerset 2024

Tintinhull war ursprünglich ein kleines Bauernhaus aus dem Jahre 1630, wurde im 18. Jahrhundert weiter ausgebaut und gehörte der Familie Napper bis 1791. Dann gab es mehrere Besitzer, bis es 1835 von Jeremiah Penny gekauft wurde. 1898 fügte Arthur Cobbett Anbauten hinzu. Bis 1933 gehörte es Dr. SJM Price, der schon die Struktur des Gartens formte. Dann kaufte Phyllis Reiss (*1886) Tintinhull mit ihrem Mann Capt. FE Reiss und entwickelte den Garten weiter. 1954 überließ sie Tintinhull dem National Trust, wohnte aber noch bis zu ihrem Tod 1961 dort. Von 1979 bis 1993 übernahm Penelope Hobhouse zusammen mit ihrem Ehemann Prof. John Malins die Pacht in Tintinhull und fügte weitere Stilelemente hinzu.
Originally a small farmhouse dating from 1630, Tintinhull was extended in the 18th century and belonged to the Napper family until 1791, when it passed through several owners until it was bought by Jeremiah Penny in 1835. In 1898 Arthur Cobbett added extensions. Until 1933 it belonged to Dr SJM Price, who had already shaped the structure of the garden. Then Phyllis Reiss (*1886) bought Tintinhull with her husband Capt FE Reiss and developed the garden further. In 1954 she left Tintinhull to the National Trust, but continued to live there until her death in 1961. From 1979 to 1993, Penelope Hobhouse took over the tenancy of Tintinhull with her husband Prof John Malins and added further stylistic elements.
