A lot of them (like the Barthelemy Brothers) also rely on a weirdly arcing bolo punch that goes back to the days of Kid Chocolate. Because amateur and Olympic boxing was the only kind allowed there for a long time, they usually don't put the emphasis on KOs and a "fan friendly" style although some of the heavyweights can be fan-friendly, and the smaller fighters are capable of putting on classics if their opponent comes out aggressive.

All of the ones in recent memory were good fighters. They still dominate your favorite fighters on the biggest state every 4 years( or Pan American and other events) and have guys like Oscar Valdez, Shakur Stevenson, Keyshawn David taking Ls.

I wasn't the greatest fighter but I tried to entertain the crowd and yes...I got dropped more than once but got back up and tried to take the fight to my opponent. Funny you mentioned Gatti, I got to see him fight in Hull Quebec 1990. I was there representing British Columbia. My first nationals. Gatti got gold. I brawled with a good fighter from P.E.I. and lost. But I took alot of chances in the amateurs. Some worked. Some didn't.
@american1great I'm not a huge fan of Flyod's style cause he runs whenever he gets tagged by a decent fighter. I like fighters who come to fight and stand in the center and go toe to toe. Look at all of Flyod's fights with cats like Dela Hoya, Mosley, and Marquez. He ran as soon as he got tagged. I'd like to see him fight Pacquiao and go toe to toe, then I'll have more respect for the man.

The Richkid I've just read your argument and it is based on triangle theories, amateur fights and no understand of the fact that styles make fights. With Lara only having 2 losses, one of which was a robbery (Williams) and another of which was seen as highly controversial (Canelo) Lara is a tough fight for anyone at 154. He wouldn't knock Floyd out no, but he is an extremely good boxer so it would be an exciting chess match. Tell me what slick boxer with speed and a good jab has Floyd ever faced with a reach like Laras? You seem to lack knowledge of the styles Floyd struggles against and who he doesn't. Canelo is a come forward brawler, so Floyd can outbox him in the middle of the ring with his superior boxing and reflexes. Lara is the complete opposite.

I wasn't the greatest fighter but I tried to entertain the crowd and yes...I got dropped more than once but got back up and tried to take the fight to my opponent. Funny you mentioned Gatti, I got to see him fight in Hull Quebec 1990. I was there representing British Columbia. My first nationals. Gatti got gold. I brawled with a good fighter from P.E.I. and lost. But I took alot of chances in the amateurs. Some worked. Some didn't.

@american1great I'm not a huge fan of Flyod's style cause he runs whenever he gets tagged by a decent fighter. I like fighters who come to fight and stand in the center and go toe to toe. Look at all of Flyod's fights with cats like Dela Hoya, Mosley, and Marquez. He ran as soon as he got tagged. I'd like to see him fight Pacquiao and go toe to toe, then I'll have more respect for the man.

The Richkid I've just read your argument and it is based on triangle theories, amateur fights and no understand of the fact that styles make fights. With Lara only having 2 losses, one of which was a robbery (Williams) and another of which was seen as highly controversial (Canelo) Lara is a tough fight for anyone at 154. He wouldn't knock Floyd out no, but he is an extremely good boxer so it would be an exciting chess match. Tell me what slick boxer with speed and a good jab has Floyd ever faced with a reach like Laras? You seem to lack knowledge of the styles Floyd struggles against and who he doesn't. Canelo is a come forward brawler, so Floyd can outbox him in the middle of the ring with his superior boxing and reflexes. Lara is the complete opposite.

Look I had 100 amatuer bouts from 1978 to 1982 when I was young. I don't like watching Mayweather fights cause he puts me to sleep better than Ambien.
