Some farmers are. What these guys do is pretty labor intensive. As is dairy farming. But row grain farmers have it really easy! Anymore, it's almost all push-button and automated. They work really hard for 4-months a year or so and the rest it basically maintenance and waiting for spring...
I love to watch your method to your process. All hands know what to do and there'e not wasted effort. You're a fast learner. It's not easy driving a big rig with gazillion gears that requires a whole to of hand - brain corridination. Growing and packing to multiple individual orders. So many moving parts to the family farming business. I love the no waste cycle of farming. Oh, and not just a typical 9 - 5 with overtime pay job. Great podcast for us city 9 - 5 folks. Thanks!

Another great, infometive video. Framing is so much more than dropping a seed in the ground and waiting for it to grow. There is so much science involved in it. This video taught me a lot. It's very fascinating. Thank you for sharing. I really appreciate these videos. Best wishes for a very beneficial harvest this year. 😊

It is great to see Shane & Molly work so well together. It looks like potatoes for fry’s for every one of the big fairs in Maine. A good accomplishment for the farm for years of business. Great to see the hard work needed to keep every thing clean.
Did good at the shifting. 4th, and 5th reversed pattern. Act like there’s a egg between your foot and throttle pedal. Match speed to shift. You did good. Me, over 2 million miles in a semi. Love your videos. Southcentral Kansas.
I just found your channel and quickly subscribed when I watched how well your team worked together and backed each other up with the various tasks. While no team is always perfect, you've clearly created an environment where the people feel valued. I can tell you guys are serious dog lovers as well, otherwise Betsy wouldn't be able to sleep in the busiest spot on the floor;-) I look forward to learning more about sweet corn and potato farming, along with the many other things that fill your day.
Molly, We run ten speed Peterbuilt trucks too. We tell our drivers only use the clutch to start out otherwise don’t use it. When up shifting drop the rpm 500 rpm and shift. When downshifting reve up the rpm 500 rpm then shift. Shane can explain it. My secretary drives truck for me during beet harvest, short handed on help, she does a good job too. Good video.
Molly and Shane, you are awesome and run a very clean operation. I picked up some potatoes the other day from the store and they sucked wish I lived closer to you guys so I could get some real potatoes. Molly you do a great job on the videos love them ❤❤❤.
Looks like a productive Sunday on the farm! Packing corn and potatoes for the fairs must keep you super busy. Thanks for sharing the behind-the-scenes look!
Hey Molly. Another great look at the workings of a farmers life. Long hors and a lot of hard work. Bessie got close up on camera today, and as always plenty of pets and attention from the crew. Y'all have a safe and productive week.
You clean up after every job … that’s new to me i never realized that .. the four letter word is work work work. My prayer is GOD watch over my family and keep them safe and healthy..
Hi from the UK. your channel is great and I have enjoyed watching all your video's that have been very informative to me. Have watched framer in the fields over here ripping , discing & ploughing but never really knew what they were doing when they were ripping the field. Your video's have answered a lot of those Questions. But one Question I have to ask you Molly all those RPC's you fill and send to the stores Are they returned to you guys for reuse or do you have to use new one's each time. Keep up the great work. Shane is a very lucky to have a wife like you who is willing to muck in with anything that needs to be done.
Have you thought about a conveyor under the polisher and sponge table to continually carry everything away to a tank of some sort. I work on a cucumber operation for 5 years and had similar issues at the sorting shed. The farm I was on grew 4000 acres. We were one of 4 farmers growing the same amount of acres. We floated the cucumbers, but the dirt and vines was the biggest issue before they got to the sorting belts. Love you video's.
Yes that’s an idea! We are getting a destoner that will float the potatoes this winter. So hopefully that will take care of a lot of the dirt. When we are u loading directly from the field there are always more dirt and vines. Sounds like you did a lot of farming!!! That’s a huge amount of acres!
Great video Molly. I wore your T-shirts the last few weeks and I’ve had comments on them if I knew somebody in Maine. I told them no and I told them to look at your TH-cam channel. I hope they will have a great day, South Carolina.
😁Hey , shift like a pro One potato Two potato GO. 🥰Its so easy when you learn the RPM notes the engine makes. When you have enough practice you can upshift without using the clutch. Just the way I did it for many years. Great video Thanks
Once again Molly and Shane , thank you for taking me along on the ride . You have in many ways captured my life on video that is only a memory today . So much work is involved , the little details that take time but are critical in providing a top grade food product . One distant 3000 mile away observation , in your corn sort line do you need a second conveyor so that when the first person culls a corn ear the second or third person never has to look at it a second time . In theory , the fill end of the conveyor would be full , the cull conveyor would be empty as the process goes along the cull conveyor is filled and at the end of the start conveyor would be mostly empty dumping into the waste bin . Just saying , I love going for the ride . Oh by the way , you are not a bonafide truck driver unless you have the Jake Brake on . If you know you know . LOL All the best to you and the crew .
I could visit and ask questions for hours but out of respect for your time , I will leave you with this thought from an ole timer I used to know in bringing a conversation to an end , I have work to do and you should have ....
@@danielhathaway6000you what I have been thinking about for the waste. To put some kind of channel/divider on the back side of the to make a lane for the cull. We talked about adding a second waste conveyor many many times for that exact reason. We just haven’t done anything about it. There was a time when we would throw the cull off the conveyor, but then it was just too much mess to clean up. I’m so glad that the videos are capturing and highlighting a lot of the things that you did your whole life. We think of you often! Thank you so much for all you support and comments🫶🫶😊👍🏻
Hey, you're driving the manual Pete!! You'll get your timing down where you only use the clutch when you start and stop. Getting the timing right to shift, and what gear to be in at what time is tough to wrap your brain around at first, but it's one of those things that when you get it, you get it. It's just an epiphany you get one day. Great job!
Thanks for another great watch Molly, what a fantastic life ( hard work it is I can see) you have there, keep them rolling out please, a really good watch even here in the uk too..
Nice driving. Not used to seeing someone use the clutch after first gear. I was trained to shift gears without the clutch. It's an art.... Well done..... :))

Who gets to drive that nice lookin red Pete? I wanna see you drive that one, Molly. Come on Shane, take her out in that! Lol. I have no doubt you’ll figure out that shifting. Definitely more challenging with a non working tach. I was a fairly long time before I wasn’t constantly looking at that. 👍
Hi Molly and Shane, I am totally amazed at all the work that you all get done in a days' time. I would like to know how the indigo tomatoes do at the sale? I really do love your videos, I learn a lot from them and I watch them over and over again! 😀😀
Molly, it seems like only a couple of weeks since the potatoes were planted, and now you’re bagging chefs. For some reason, the French fries at fairs taste extra good. We buy small potatoes for home use these days, used to be B’s at some farms. “Diet” potatoes. Love your videos.

Hi Molly, the wife finally finished our garden last week, potatoes were last out, she dug them by hand from her tractor scoot, which is a steel tractor seat on a little four wheel cart worked well saved her back and all other aching parts of her body. food supply.
