Terrace Martin would be incredible - he's constantly releasing genre-bending Neo-Soul/Jazz instrumental work - his latest album Ornamental is fantastic. Not to mention his sound-design/mixing skills which are second to none!
Probably not as commercially successful as some of the bands you have on here, but I would love to see Plastic Mermaids interviewed here. There’s so much in their music, from in your face saturated band stuff to delicate string arrangements, layering harmonies and use of vocoders, sometimes all in the same song. Worth checking out if you’re not familiar with them.
I just don’t like how honest it is lol ( my massive record collection and cd collection has thankfully slowed down its progression in size when I can now sample from TH-cam 😂) Just Stop blowing the secrets 😂 great vid though and you now have a new subscriber 👍 ps I use a combination of samplitude AND a Roland W30 ( my Roland W30 was one of many that Liam Hewlett used to own incidentally, and he’s a really humble and nice guy in that person btw 😊) I see the benefits of sample packs etc but after 40yrs of doing this I think I’m a bit snobby about them perhaps tbh ( and also a cheapskate who only sees value in spending money on something I can physically hold lol) I only sample drums from records these days mostly, usually from old jazz stuff in a bargain bin that I try to turn into ruff cut break beats after serious chopping lol😂
Let us know if you liked this episode, and which artists you want to see on Tape Notes next!

the first milliseconds of drum break #1 kinda scares me 😂
