The fumes over coal is the wonderful smell of Bakhour. This is a tree bark found in Cambodia and nearby countries . Qoozi Laham, the dinner you had , is a very famous dish throughout the Gulf Arab region , including Kuwait, UAE and Saudi Arabia. The area is very peaceful and beautiful, worth a visit of course . Very sparsely populated, most people stay in villages, but look rich landlords. But the hospitality and down to earth attitude is much appreciated. Travellers are always treated like that , it's a historical truth of this region.

I am a Norwegian-Pakistani and I have had the pleasure of visiting Jeddah, Saudi Arabia only once. I was attending an energy expo and met with a company there.
After the meeting, they asked me what I would do in the evening.
I told them I would stay at the hotel and maybe see the town.
They asked me if I had done Umrah. I said no as I thought Makkah was far away.
They highly recommended me to go and even gave me a driver and car!
I was never expecting this - and this is the way I was able to do Umrah!
Wherever I meet Saudis - I can confirm that they are great people - with hospitality on a different level!
